One Ovary Short Of A Pair

I realize this has nothing to do with Celiac Disease, but I am very curious if anyone has any info about chances of pregnancy for someone with only one ovary. Aug 2, I had my right ovary removed and although I am happy that the problem is gone- I am scared that my chances are very slim now. If anyone has any reassuring thoughts to share- I'd be greatful for any info.

Thank you so much,

Gabby

Hi Gabby

I don't have any statistics, but wanted to share that my sister had only one ovary and it was even in a very bad shape. The tube partially blocked with some misplaced tissue. However, she has two beautiful children conceived naturally :D

At age 19 (1961) I had my right ovary removed. I had a daughter, naturally. I also had a period every month. Your remaining ovary does the work of two. Friends said it was great that I would only have a period every other month, but that is not the case. You only need one to get pregnant. :) Armetta

Gabby-

Glad to see your back! Did your surgery go okay?

gabrielle Contributor

Thanks guys, that's pretty reassuring!!

jenvan- Hello! Yes my surgery was not as bad as I had thought it would be-except for the fact that the doctors could not salvage my poor ovary. Besides that I am doing well, already walking about and can't wait for my recovery to be over!!!

You all are wonderful, I really appreciate the support!!

:) Gabby

@StuartJ, what brand of gluten-free flour did she use?

Congrats! Can you share the recipe? We just picked up a bread maker from an estate sale and are experimenting.
