Inflated Guts..

First off, I missed posting here. Been a little lazy here lately. Admittedly not 100% gluten free, especially last week.

Does anyone get this weird feeling in your gut like the whole thing feels inflated. Not hard to breath but u think it is. Just gut bloating.

I had been eating low carb which I like but got off track last week. I did feel much better on that as well.

Man is it an icky feeling. A little burpy, a little gassy. Can tell it is GI based on well..output...lol.

I had some dairy recently like a moron and definitely been bad with the gluten. Getting back on track since Sunday, but just curious who else feels this ballooning..Is this what it feels like to be a woman and feel bloated?

What you are descrbing was my only sypmtom when I persisted for 3 years about it- I got my celiac diagnosis. Bloating (for me, up high), fullness and pressure, gas, cramping and looking and feeling like I am 9 months pregnant- just overall feeling icky as you describe!

That did go away since being gluten-free, however I do not feel as well yet as I expected- but, it has only been two months so I am hoping for great things to come yet!

By the way, I don't eat gluten-free grains either, I am strictly whole foods- meats, veggies, some cheese, almond milk, fruits, every once in awhile rice or potatoes, but primarily what I mentioned.

Mine mostly sits at the gallbladder region. I have no GB. It is a weird feeling for sure and annoying and distressing until you figure out what it is.

I used to be really bloated. Since going gluten free none of my pants fit anymore, which is really exciting. I totally get the breathing thing, it isn't diffucult to breathe but I always felt like it should be, like I'm too full up inside to have room to inhale. I was far from a little burpy and gassy, I was like a full on biowarfare manufacturing facility. So glad that has cleared up gluten free!

I am wondering about that too - despite me loosing weight, hips very loose in pants, waist is not budging much, especially afternoons, and when I eat out, I want to wear maternity pants with soft waist, because I never know, if I won't get glutened, and my belly won't blow up like a baloon in matter of minutes... :(

Oh yes... I used to carry Gas Rx with me everywhere I went. I was often mistaken for being pregnant; it was all out in front. I used to push back on my stomach for relief... just waiting for my skin to split. LOL After strictly eating gluten-free for a month, I lost 10 lbs and I'm sure it was all the bloat. Yuck.

You're glutenning yourself. You should stop... but you know that.... and you don't want to look preggo! ;)

I suspect that my bloating caused shortness of breath. My chiro would measure my breathes per minute. My breath was shallow. I was able to hold my breath for 9 seconds at the first measurement. Now I am up to 35.

Oddly enough I didn't feel the bloating, I didn't realize the bloating I saw, caused the perceived tightness in my belly?

My bloating just now seems to be responding to gluten free. I can't relate to people gloating (after dieting 2 weeks) that it is gone. I have been grain free 6 months and gluten free 8. I am sure everyone heals differently. I have 30 years of celiac symptoms (undiagnosed) behind me. My belly does seem way big compared to the rest of my body size. I usually only look 5 months pregnant when it is really bad.

Lately, I have been noticing that my belly is really big right before it deflates. Just when it seems hopeless it suddenly disappears. Well, not really completely, but a lot smaller. I have been urinating and b-m-ming alot the last couple of weeks. I can tell my body is working very hard to recover.

I get tight feelings in the area sometimes. The muscles/skin are tight sometimes, but baggy other times. I guess I have spare tires like dieters.

I don't think my gas weighs anything. I am small enough almost everywhere, but for 3 years I have lost no weight. However, I have kept buying a little smaller clothes.

It sucks, definitely... Being bloated is just plain yucky. In fact, bloating cause me to give up bread three years ago, way before my gluten intolerant diagnosis. I consider it a very bad omen.

Thanks Merlin I never went farther than 3 months of pregnancy

I have only been gluten-free for about 6 weeks now and for the last 5.5 I felt wonderful, better than in years. Sunday my wife and I were talking and I mentioned I was starting to not feel well. By Monday I was in pain and many of my previous symptoms returned, including bloat, intestinal pain, headache, sinus running. Tuesday was more of the same and a bit more intense. Tuesday night we spoke again about it and I had no shirt on at the time. I told her I felt like something was inside me inflating my intestines. I had no other way to describe it other than feeling like I was having air pumped into me. She immediately said she couldn't believe I felt bloated because I looked like I had shrunk some from weight loss (I've lost 10 lbs since being gluten-free).

I still feel bloated and it seems to span beyond just my intestines. I feel it even in my throat, but not in a scary or sick way. It just feels like I'm a bit swollen, but I'm not. I totally understand your sense of bloating and mine is the result of being glutened. The pain is subsiding now, I'm back to "regular" again and the bloat is starting to go away. I never looked bloated at all, but it felt as if I were more bloated than ever.

Since this is my first "glutening" all I can go on is what others have said, which is that it will soon subside. Mine is heading that way and I feel so much better than a couple days ago. Best of luck!

For 3 days now I have been C and bloating and my belly is hard as a rock, I get up in the morning and go a little bit but that doesn't help. I have tried everything to go but nothing is working.

May 16 I went gluten free did have some messed up and got gluten a couple of time got throuth that but now this I have never had it this bad. I just don't know what to do...

I am new to all this and still learning, and I have learn alot off of this site keep up the good work.

Have you tried a stool softener? It may just take loosening things up in order for the gas inside the instestines to find a way out. It's not an immediate answer because they take time to work, but a suggestion nonetheless. Hope you pain subsides soon!

Yes I have been taking stool softener but only one a nite maybe I should take two. But then again I am taking wal-mart, is there a better one?

Thanks

I know zilch about stool softeners, but you could try some prune juice. :)

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
