Great Sandwich Bread

I don't often sign up to post about a product, but this is an exception. Yesterday we stopped by the Krogers in Willis Texas. We picked up a loaf of Gluten Free Houston's sandwich bread in an orange colored wrapper. I could not believe how good this bread was. The bread is in the frozen section but after thawing a piece in the microwave it was soft and the crust was even good. It was as close to regular gluten white sandwich bread as any breads we had tried so for and believe me we have tried a bunch (and thrown away a bunch). The slices are bigger then Udi's so it can make a full size sandwich and it is better tasting then Udi's which is now our second favorite bread. Udi's is good but mainly as a toast but Gluten Free Houston's bread is good just plain. I hope this company expands into buns like Udi's has because they are doing bread great!

Thanks Hootie,

I googled it and you can order it online. I don't know if they ship frozen or not. I don't see that listed. International shipping is almost $30 so it's a no go for me but anyone in the states interested in trying it you can order it here...

Along with some of their other products. Enjoy

Good to know! I also agree about Udi's and toast. Yum!

Update on my above post.

I made my post before checking to see if Gluten Free Houston had a web site. After making my post I looked for their site and they did indeed have a site.

They had everything a celiac person could ask for. So we decided to drive over today. We met the founders of the company and they are really nice people. We proceeded to load up on the goodies.

We bought more sandwich bread, dinner rolls, hot dog buns, hamburger buns, chicken pot pies, mini carrot cake muffins, vanilla pound cake, blue berry muffins, and cookies. We are full from taste testing, but have found everything to be excellent and worth the trip. The carrot cake minis are to die for. I was so impressed with everything I ordered my wife an Italian cream cake for her upcoming birthday which is one of her favorites.

I picked up her cake Thursday and it was a big hit for everyone. No one could tell that it was Gluten Free. It quickly disappeared and was enjoyed by everyone.

Wow!! Thank you for the info Hootie!!

Good to know, as I have only tried one rice bread and hated it!

I will definitely look for this bread from Gluten Free Houston or order on their website.

Also, the "Against the Grain" company makes a FANTASTIC Baguette.

Best "hero" bread I've had AND it's great as a side with Italian..

Find it. Order it. Love it.

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

That sounds so very likely in my case! I will absolutely ask my doctor on my next bone check coming up in March... Thanks a lot!

Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
