I started my gluten-free way of life 28 hours ago. Its Wednesday and my son is already back in school, and Ive been getting up early, so there was no denying myself a nap. I woke up with a terrible horrible headache. If Im already having withdrawals, this is gonna be tougher than I had imagined! Ive been totally immersed in reading on the forum and I know what my fellow posters and doctors liken the withdrawal symptoms to but wow if they are hitting this soon.

Withdrawl hit me fast too, within a couple of days and it lasted two weeks, but it varies widely from what I've heard. The headache and crankiness ended up being the worst for me. I felt pretty run down too. Good luck with it all. It's only for a short while and then you'll be healing! :)

So far today Im great. Knock on wood! The rest of yesterday was not fun at all. All my joints were killing me, and I just felt like I had been hit by a bus. But, Ive not had any stomach issues and Ive been eating things I know would have given me an upset stomach had they not been gluten-free. I got me some rice milk (Ive tried the soy in the past and hated it) and some chex for breakfast and tolerate it wonderfully. And normally when I eat anything cereal oriented, I don't have long. Ive been eating things with oils, butter with no issues at all. Whereas before, I steered clear of things with that in them, thinking it was the oils.

Ive gotten 2 new appliances just for me. A bread machine and a toaster oven. Ive always wanted a toaster oven but never had a reason to buy one. Well, since I can't use our toaster anymore, I had a reason. Now Im having to rearrange my kitchen to have room for my new stuff. Its nice not to have to rest in between chores in rearranging the kitchen. With my Fibro, when I have good days like this, I ALWAYS over do it. Its so hard not to since there are many days when I can't do anything.

Its several days in and this morning I ate something that made me sick. Im not sure what it was, because everything was new. gluten-free bread/toast with jelly, Almond milk, and cantaloupe. Im thinking it was the cantaloupe. Ive had trouble in the past with it, but will start the rule out process. Other than having a headache this afternoon, Im doing good. The past 2 nights Ive gone to bed, slept until hubby woke me up for him to leave for work, and slept till my 100lb alarm (My great pyrenees) woke me up. And even with medication, I have not slept all night like that in years and years. My joints are bothering me a bit today, but its very humid outside and rainy. I do have noticeably more energy which makes me feel better all around. Im still disgusted with my biopsy bust, but Ill get over that. Thankfully I can diagnose myself and treat myself for this. And having this forum as a support group is awesome! Ive learned so much already and know I have SO much more to learn.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
