ARCHIVED Adrenal Fatigue & Pancreas Mri
Gemini replied to SleepyBunny's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi SleepyBunny! Sorry for the delay but life has been busy and thank you for reminding me! The results of my adrenal tests were that I am low, low, low in the morning but my noon and afternoon levels are optimal. I do a good job of making up from the low cortisol in the morning. The late night numbers are slightly elevated but not that much at... -
ARCHIVED 15 Months Gluten Free And Still Testing Positive For The Disease
Gemini replied to Newbee's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Newbee......I need to tell you that your doctor is running the incorrect test for dietary compliance. This happens ALL THE TIME and it infuriates me to no end. Here's what you need to do....the correct testing to see if you are still ingesting gluten is the AGA IgA and AGA IgG or the newer test that is run in place of these, the DGP. The tTg test is... -
ARCHIVED Vick's Vaporub
Gemini replied to 123glldd's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That might have something to do with acupuncture pressure points and the meridian in your body. You know, if you are trying to quit smoking, they use acu-points in the ear lobe. That's my guess! -
ARCHIVED Vick's Vaporub
Gemini replied to 123glldd's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
As Lisa stated, Vick's Vapor Rub is safe to use. There is no gluten in the ingredients and most importantly of all......would you really want to get that into your mouth? -

ARCHIVED More Questions After Blood Work...
Gemini replied to luvrdeo's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You know, sometimes not eating carbs can make one very fatigued. Carbs are a major energy source and some people do not do well without them. There are good quality carbs out there....not all are crappy processed foods. Just something to think about..... -
ARCHIVED More Questions After Blood Work...
Gemini replied to luvrdeo's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I do know that they SSA and SSB tests are for Sjogren's Syndrome. I have Sjogren's. Fatigue can be caused by just having AI diseases so it could be from that. You may have other ones as they come in clusters sometimes. I have 4 AI diseases total but have been gluten-free for a long time and all of them have gotten immensely better. I do get tired though... -
ARCHIVED More Questions After Blood Work...
Gemini replied to luvrdeo's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
That was me who told you that Celiac can raise ANA. It is very accurate but you will not find that information easily. It falls into the category of "most doctors know jack squat about Celiac". Celiac can also raise blood protein levels, which will freak a doctor out as that can be indicative of Multiple Myeloma. I had this information confirmed by a... -
ARCHIVED Questions Re Shared Toaster Oven, Initialisms
Gemini replied to KikiB's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for clarifying that, GottaSki! I KNOW you know your stuff with regards to Celiac and I didn't want to annoy anyone but if you don't clarify that, you know what will happen! -
ARCHIVED Gluten Challenge
Gemini replied to Blevois's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sorry, Peter, but I needed to answer this question of Tom's! Yes, Tom, all the up to date blood screening tests available today were there in 2005....except the DGP. That is the newest one of the AGA IgA variety. I was diagnosed in 2005 so that is why I know this. I had the full panel done and was diagnosed via blood work. 2005 was not the Dark Ages... -
ARCHIVED Questions Re Shared Toaster Oven, Initialisms
Gemini replied to KikiB's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I really feel the need to clarify this......you cannot be glutened by merely touching something that may be gluten containing. It has to find it's way into your GI tract. If you had licked the toaster handle, OK, that would be a problem but you don't do that! No one does that. Gluten can be handled by even the most sensitive of Celiacs (of which I am... -
ARCHIVED Been Called In By Doc Re Bloods
Gemini replied to nickymacd's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Nicky....the last 3 things to avoid on that list are not mandatory. Everyone is different and you have to go by how you are feeling. I needed to gain weight badly at time of diagnosis so I did eat sugar and starches and amazingly enough, as long they where gluten free, I did not have a problem. You will never know until you try things yourself. The emphasis... -
ARCHIVED Should I Bother With Getting A Bioposy
Gemini replied to Demelza's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What studies have shown that most of the healthy, non-Celiac population would improve on a gluten-free diet? Anyone without Celiac Disease would not show any improvement on a gluten-free diet, unless they do indeed have Celiac. I'd be interested in seeing these studies. While I was diagnosed through blood work and declined the biopsy, many people here... -
Geez.....slow growth and slowed reflexes are signs of thyroid disease and the growth thing can also be Celiac, as you probably know. It's criminal that doctors ignore signs until there is a crisis. It's infuriating and they wonder why people doctor shop. I went years without going to any doctors because of this type of BS. I honestly did better off without...

Hi Nicole......Gemini here. Methinks you need another doctor because this one clearly is not going to treat by symptoms and treating by labs never works with Hashi's. Plus, you need to have the Free T3 done, not the total. I go by Free T4 and T3 to dose....never the TSH. As we have said before, the TSH is not a thyroid test, it's a pituitary test. They...

ARCHIVED Questions About 16 Year Old
Gemini replied to michelepta's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
All of the advice given here is spot on and I am a Celiac with Hashi's also. You may want to have your daughter gene tested because that might convince her she needs to be gluten free, although give her enough reactions and poor health and she may come around quicker than you think. What I would like is the name of her ex-doc....I would like to smack... -
There will always be a certain segment of the population who, unfortunately, are offended by everything. You can choose whether to come here or not but your feelings are in the VAST minority. I am the one who you posted about because my comment of it possibly being a psychosomatic reaction was taken entirely out of context by the overly sensitive (and I'm...

This post made me laugh out loud! I felt the same way when I got my blood work back....could have danced for joy! I wasn't crazy, like so many doctors suggested. Good for you, Mr. Happy....things only get better from now on!

ARCHIVED Gluten Challenge Before Endoscopy
Gemini replied to KikiB's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Boy, what a train wreck this thread has become! Ya know, Tom, Irish and GottaSki have offered up phenomenal advice to the OP and yet, you keep on making attacks and challenging everything they say. I mean, really, what the hell is your problem? Who pee'd on your Cheerios this week? -
ARCHIVED Been Called In By Doc Re Bloods
Gemini replied to nickymacd's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I stayed in Edinburgh for a week, then drove up to the Highlands by way of Pitlochery (gorgeous) and on up north. Stayed another week in Drumnadrochit near to Loch Ness and drove all over the place up there. It was fabulous. Then we drove back south by way of Loch Lomond and stayed outside of Glasgow for a few nights before flying home. I really must go back... -
ARCHIVED Surprised This Morning With Celiac Diagnosis, Not Sure What To Do
Gemini replied to rorenchan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you have positive blood work, especially tTg and EMA, then that is a formal diagnosis and the only reason you need an endo is if you want to see exactly how bad the damage is. Some people need to see pictures of damage to convince themselves to remain gluten-free for life. You also do not need new pots and pans unless the ones you have are porous.... -
ARCHIVED Stressing Over Pillcam Results
Gemini replied to maggiesimpson's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No.....anything with gluten cannot even touch your food or you can't eat it. You must be wary of cross contamination. Does dairy bother you now? If it doesn't, then why give it up? Some people have to give it up for awhile, others do not. It is not mandatory to ditch dairy when starting the gluten-free diet.....only if you have symptoms after ingesting... -
ARCHIVED Stressing Over Pillcam Results
Gemini replied to maggiesimpson's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I may be wrong but Crohn's does not affect the small intestine...it is a disease of the large intestine. They would biopsy the large intestine for Crohn's and the small intestine for Celiac. If you have ulcers and inflammation in your small intestine, that may be the precursor to Celiac so if you keep eating gluten, eventually there will be enough damage... -
ARCHIVED Been Called In By Doc Re Bloods
Gemini replied to nickymacd's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Nicky! Yes, the blood work can give you a yes or no on Celiac Disease but many doctors still consider the biopsy "The Gold Standard". The problem with this is that you may test positive for Celiac with your blood work but you may not have enough damage yet in your small intestine for them to find. Then they will tell you that you don't have Celiac...
