This topic has come up before here (see- you're not the only one!). My moons disappeared before I went gluten-free and was sick. As I stayed gluten-free, they gradually came back, thumbs first, then pointer, then middle (still missing ring and pinky). I had read that there was a correlation between this and autoimmune disorders. Here are some past threads...

ARCHIVED Food Avoidance And What To Do About My Situation
Mtndog replied to Christina98's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think you know what most of us are going to say- you're not going to know if it makes you feel better until you give it a fair chance. You know that you don't feel good. You know you're depressed. You said that you would give anything to feel better- you've been diagnosed with food intolerances and that COULD be your answer right there. I know it's hard... -

Oh oh oh- you would have a field day in Boston!!!!!!!!!! Everything is wicked cool, wicked long, and I am wicked tired But the worst is "Hey Bev, look at those hosses?" Those what? HORSES. ARCHIVED Ate Gluten Free Chex, Now Throwing Up Blood?
Mtndog replied to Becci's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would go to the ER. Throwing up blood is NOT normal and you need to get it checked out. Hope you're OK and even if it turns out to be just a gluten reaction, I hope you feel better soon. -

I'm glad that they're truthful in their labeling. That way people can make an INFORMED choice. Back when I was first healing, I reacted to a level of 33 ppm (Amy's pizza- I called and they sent a sample to University of Nebraska for testing). I' happy to say that after being gluten-free for awhile, I no longer react to much at all. Occasionally CC... -

ARCHIVED Predisone - Refractory Sprue - Lupus
Mtndog replied to Karrin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks karrin- I know that there are several board members here (or their spouses) that have had to go on a steroid when first diagnosed with celiac because the damage was so bad. Nikki-UK's husband was one of them. If the damage was that severe this may be why the prednisone is helping. But, if I were you, I'd go back to the doctor and make sure that... -
Ang1e0251 said it best. Don't engage him- he wants trouble. If you ignore it, he'll have to find someone else to take out his anger on. That said, I am sorry you have to deal with this after so much health trouble. I hope you are healthy and well soon!

ARCHIVED Predisone - Refractory Sprue - Lupus
Mtndog replied to Karrin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I want to make sure I understand you correctly. You have celiac and you DID test positive for RA? If you did test positive for RA it would explain why the prednisone is making you feel so much better. If you have celiac but not RA too, I wonder if you have been tested for Lyme. Its symptoms can mimic a lot of other diseases including RA, lupus and cause... -

I agree with Jerseyangel- if she isn't willing to let you do your thing, the I would say no, it's not worth it. That's sad- some people really don't think it's that serious when in reality, it could mess up the rest of your semester. I'd try talking to your friend and explaining this and see how it goes. If you don't trust it, then I would stay and have...

My opinion is DO NOT LET CELIAC RULE YOUR LIFE! If you would enjoy getting away and not be too overwhelmed with work when you get back, I say go! Explain your needs to your friend and her family. That doesn't mean you have to trust them- you could go food shopping and prepare foods for yourself while you are there. If you can deal with it at school...

Then he has to choose between me, Nikki and Em. I'm thinking he'll go for Em as she's farther north then me and then begin his long winter swim across the pond to get... -
