  1. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone!! My oldest 2 dd's fight constantly! They are 3 yrs apar, ages 9 and 6 (both have bdays in less than a month). I ignore tattling, general pestering (like copying, staring, etc), but namecalling is not allowed. I tell them if they have nothing to say, then don't talk. I will cut them off if they start talking...
  2. I talked to a pharmacist today, and he said that I was having some sort of allergic reaction and I should not take it again. He said i need to avoid naproxin, aleve, all ibuprofens, etc. When I told him what the nurse told me, he kinda laughed and said that she was really wrong to tell me that. The enteric coating will only help me if my stomach got upset...
  3. Thanks for all your help guys! I have decided that I will NEVER take ibuprofen again. Now I just don't know if I should also avoid aspirin and aleve, too. I haven't had a chance to do much research yet since I felt so bad yesterday. Today I am feeling better. My fingers aren't as stiff or swollen, and my neck is better, though it still hurts. I have a...
  4. A few weeks ago, I was taking some ibuprofen for some pain. I would wake up the next day with really stiff, achy and swollen fingers. I took more ibuprofen to help with my fingers swelling, and it got worse. I finally stopped taking ALL of my meds for a few days and it cleared up. Well, yesterday, I took some ibuprofen for a sore elbow, and this morning I...
  5. If you can't find one you like, you can always just buy an empty bottle (like in the travel section) and put your lotion in it. I don't know anything about BBW brands. ptkds
  6. OH yeah, a good finger food for her age is some crackers called "Baby Mum Mums." They do have milk in them though. You can find them in Walmart with the toddler foods. I have never tried tofu, so I am no help there! The dried gerber fruits are safe, too. And Dora stars cereal is gluten-free. Those were our "Cheerios" for our toddlers! Trix, Fruity pebbles...
  7. It took about 2 weeks for our blood tests to come back. I think they came back a little faster from the gastro, though. I think it just depends on you dr's office and the lab they use. Two of my celiac dd's had to have soy milk, and the 3rd had to have Alimentum. I could only nurse for a very short time because I dont' make enough milk to feed a baby. So...
  8. I went around and looked at all my kids and dh. All 4 of my kids and I have pinkies that are below the last joint on the ring finger. My dh's was longer. So my oldest dd went to school yesterday and looked at all of her friends and her teachers hands. Most of them had the "gluten intolerant" pinky! When she told them what it was supposed to mean, they told...
  9. What kind of reaction does she have when you give her wheat? Food allergies can mimic the symtoms of Celiac (at least on the outside!). T1 diabetes and celiac are closeley related. They are both autoimmune disorders and if you have 1, you have a much higher chance of having the other. Do a google search for "diabetes and celiac" and see what pops up...
  10. I have to say that I will ALWAYS hate Celiac disease. I hate it because it makes my kids feel like social rejects. I hate it because it makes my 6 yr old cry, and my toddlers don't understand why I have to tell them no when they want some food that another child is eating. I am grateful that I know how to treat all of mine and my kids problems, but I will...
  11. I know exactly how you feel. At our church, we have pot lucks all the time. The one thing I looked forward to the most was some home-made rolls that someone always makes. I nearly cried the first time I saw them after I was diagnosed. I don't know how long you have been gluten-free. But if it hasn't been long, it will get a little easier. I am at the point...
  12. These sound great!! I am gonna have to try them out really soon!
  13. That is so wrong what they did to you! I would complain to the BBB if they don't fix it! I recently bought some med bracelets for myself and my dd's. When they arrived, my older dd didn't like her bracelets at all and suddenly wanted a necklace. So I called them, and they agreed to make the exchange for me without a problem! Also, they offer an online medical...
  14. My 3 dd's and I all have one. I have it listed as "Allergic to Wheat, Barley, Rye, and Oats." I did it more so that if I were injured and can't talk, then ppl will know how to take care of my kids. I do travel alot alone w/ my kids. I know it isn't life-threatening, but it does make them very uncomfortable for a few days, and if I am very sick and in the...
  15. I think pedro meant diarrhea, but normally, dd means dear daughter. ptkds
  16. It all depends on how sensitive you are, how long you have been gluten-free, and what your normal reaction is. It varies from person to person. My dd's have totally different reactions, and my reaction is worse than theirs. Sorry I can't help you more! ptkds
  17. You just have to let it go. It happens, especially if you are new to the diet. Gluten is in so many foods, and you have to eat. So accidents are gonna happen. Just comfort your child, or apologize alot to an adult! And just try not to do it again!! ptkds
  18. I use the recipe from Bette Hagman called Seasoned Pizza Crust. My family LOVES it, too. We also really like the Kinnickick crust, but we can't really afford it, especially w/ 6 ppl in this family! ptkds
  19. My dd had a rash in her diaper area before going gluten-free. But now that she is gluten-free, it is gone. If she gets glutened, she sometimes gets the rash again, but it goes away in a day or 2. ptkds
  20. I contacted this company in January of this year. The company is called Pinnacle foods. Their response is below. Basically, the Log Cabin Country Kitchen is safe, but the others may not be. We use this kind, and we really like it. Thank you for taking the time to inquire about Pinnacle Foods Corporation and the products we produce which might be...
  21. If you plan on testing them, you need to keep them on gluten until the tests are done. But if you are just wanting to try the diet, then take them off of all gluten. My dd had a diaper rash that I couldn't get rid of, and that is one of the things that led us to Celiac disease. I tried antifungals, Rx's, and different diaper rash meds, and nothing worked...
  22. Congrats! My dd's teacher seems to be great this year, too. But last year I tried to let my dd eat the school lunches. They really tried to do it right. They would change their gloves before touching her food, etc. But I believe she was getting glutened every day. She was still moody and was having tummy aches. And she got really bored pretty quick with...
  23. That sounds like my dd. She is also 6. She is pretty small for her age, she was always pale, and she was VERY moody. School mornings were torture for both of us. And at 6 yrs old, she would still take naps if she sat still long enough. She tested positive last November for Celiac. I have seen a nice improvement since she has been completely gluten-free. All...
  24. I understand how you feel. I can't pinpoint anyone in my family that may have died from Celiac disease (though I can think of those that had it). But I do get upset with 2 of my grandparents that died from smoking-related diseases. They both smoked for most of their lives. They never got to meet my kids, and that hurts. But I don't think anger will ever...
  25. Below is what I gave my dd's teacher. She is in the first grade. Her teacher seems to have really learned alot from what I gave her and she seems like she will be wonderful with my dd this year. I also gave her a copy of a letter for the other parents, which she then copied and sent out to all the parents. You can always adjust it to thngs that your dd's...
