  1. I am just curious how other moms figured out their dc had diabetes? My 6 yr old dd seems to have alot of symptoms. She seems to be always going to the bathroom. She has lost about 3 lbs (and she is already super skinny; We can see her ribs), she is always hungry and seems to really want sweets. I don't know if that is cuz she has a major sweet tooth or...
  2. Thanks for all the help everyone! I took her to the dr yesterday, and the dr put her back on Alimentum and said to keep her off of all milk protein. I have another ??; Does goats milk have milk protein? It seems like the allergist told me it did, but the pedi said I could use it. I am trying to find something to cook with, and it looks like the only options...
  3. I have this tiny kitchen which was fine before going gluten-free, but now it is WAY too small. So I have been thinking about what features would work best in a kitchen. Hopefully we will move in the next 2 yrs, so I have to figure out what I want. Here is what I have so far: Double oven Island Walk-in Pantry Half the special cabinets from Kitchen...
  4. Hey everyone! My youngest dd was recently taken off the bottle. She is 13 months old. When she was about 1 month old, she developed bloody diarrhea and was put on Alimentum formula and diagnosed with a milk protein allergy. Then she was having a reaction (though not as severe) to the formula because it had corn in it (we are pretty sure of this at least...
  5. Sorry you don't have a real answer yet. When you take dd in, they will probably put an IV in and sedate her. She will go to sleep. The procedure should only take about 5-10 minutes. Then she will wake up. She will probably be a little groggy and grumpy. Make sure you bring something for her to drink in a sippy or whatever she uses. They won't let you go...
  6. Ok, here is what the box says: Total Fat: 0.2 g Sat. Fat 0g Trans fat 0g Total Carbs 13 g Sugars 1.6g Calories 57 Calories from fat 0.1 8 crackers equal 1 serving. Hope that helps! ptkds
  7. The name is "Baby Mum Mum". Weird name, but great product!
  8. I found this product in my Wal-Mart yesterday!! Tha box has gluten free on it! tried them this morning and they taste pretty good! Makes a great cracker! Just thought I would share! Open Original Shared Link .com/Hot-Kid-Baby-Mum-Mum...3991&sr=8-2 I found them in the baby-toddler food section on the top shelf. ptkds Edit: I redid the link...
  9. All it is is cooked, pureed veggies and fruits. It is easy on the system because it is only one ingredient. You can buy applesauce that is just as simple. hope that helps! ptkds
  10. My almost-2 yr old dd was diagnosed w/ celiac disease in November. Yesterday, I noticed she has white moon-shaped lines across all of her fingernails. They are closer to the tip, so it isn't the cuticle. Is this from her celiac disease? Or should I bring it up with her pedi? Thanks, ptkds
  11. They make French Bread pans without holes. The one I have doesn't have the holes. But I haven't tried making french bread yet. It is on my "to do" list! ptkds
  12. The Gluten Free Pantry Muffin mix is amazing. I add some strudel on top and mix in blueberrys or chocolate chips in it. They are the best and my dd's and dh LOVE them. ptkds

    ARCHIVED Scared

I know how you feel. My was also worried about my dh and his family. But he has been great. He gets a little frustrated, but he is supportive. One night we had to go out to eat w/ his family. His mom is pretty cheap and wanted to go to some fast food place. We wanted to go somewhere so that me and dd's could safely eat, but it was kinda pricey. He told his...
  14. Thanks for all the great recipes! Some of them look really yummy! I found these little dishes the other day and I was wondering if they would work for hot dog buns. Open Original Shared Link . I have used a muffin top pan for hamburger buns, but I was thinking about getting some little round dishes like these for hamburger buns. ptkds
  15. So my dd has been getting a bunch of spots on her legs. Me and my hubby thought it was flea bites because we have seen fleas in our house, but no one else is as bad as her. Last week we took her to an allergist because she occasionally breaks out after eating. He suggested that the spots on her legs could actually be DH and not flea bites. So, should I get...
  16. I recently went to see a dr in a dermatologists office (he wasn't a derm) about all the itchy spots I have been getting since going gluten-free. He said it wasn't DH, but it was related to gluten. Then I took my 22m old dd to an allergist and we were discussing various symptoms, and i mentioned my itchy spots. He said it was most likely DH and I should get...
  17. I am just so sick of this disease. I have been gluten-free since December, but I do get glutened often. And since starting the diet, new symptoms have popped up. The one that is bothering me the most right now is a huge canker sore on my tongue. And now whenever I get glutened, I get spots on my skin (unconfirmed DH) that itch like crazy. And I don't even...
  18. My dd was the biggest out of all my kids, and she was the first one diagnosed w/ celiac disease. I am overweight and I was recently diagnosed w/ celiac disease. So yes, it is VERY possible to be big and still have celiac disease. You should request the test. It won't do any harm to check. ptkds
  19. Yep, you need to find a new dr. My dd's pedi GI told us she had "toddler diarrhea," even after the blood work was positive for celiac disease. So I ignored him and put her on the gluten-free diet, and she has done great! I can definetly tell when she has had some gluten, because she gets cranky, a bloated tummy, and diarrhea. She never really acted sick before...
  20. I'm sorry you and your dd are going through all of this. My dd#2 (who has celiac) has more behavioral problems than anything else when she eats gluten. She is SO picky about clothes and she always cries about the simplest things. It drives me nuts. I don't know what cereals your dd can have because of the diabetes, but here are a few gluten-free ones: General...

    ARCHIVED On A Baby?

Well, my toddler had a "diaper" rash that wouldn't go away with ANY meds. When we discovered she had celiac disease and she started the gluten-free diet, the "diaper" rash disapeared. I saw a dermatologist today because I seem to get itchy spots alot, esp when I get glutened. He said it didn't look like DH, but it did look like it was related to my celiac...
  22. 1. I hate shopping at the grocery store. It reminds me of what I can't have. And someone please tell me why they have to put the cookies and crackers on the same aisle as the baby stuff!!! I need blinders at the store! 2. I hate that I no longer feel comfortable leaving my toddler with a babysitter unless they are at my house. I usually take my kids...
  23. First of all, take a deep breath! I know exactly how you feel. 2 of my dd's and I were all diagnosed with celiac disease a few months ago. First thing you should do is go to a local book store, library, or amazon .com and get you some cook books. I LOVE the Bette Hagman books. I havn't had a recipe fail yet. Bookmark all your favorite gluten-free websites...
  24. Unfortuantly, I am not lucky enough to actually lose weight when I get glutened. I was diagnosed a few months ago, and I have been overweight most of my life. My dh is also overweight and he is considering a gastric banding procedure. I was just wondering of a dr would actually do this procedure on someone with celiac disease?? My brother had a gastric bypass...
  25. I once watched a Mystery Diagnosis on the Discovery Health Channel about a little boy who had seizures. They weren't the grand mal kind, but he would gaze off into nothing and make a clicking noise w/ his tongue. Turns out he had Celiac disease and once he was on the gluten-free diet, he became seizure-free. I have it copied on a celiac disease. If you would...
