  13. I'll try to find the names but there are two great gluten-free restaurants in Venice, I can remember how to walk there from anywhere but cant recall the names! There is also a Italian restaurant site which lists it and others. Maybe someone has the link or if you search our forum you can find the names from a year or two ago. If you go to Ancona, there...
  14. I keep hearing about this but have not seen it in Hawaii yet. I do like their pother products though. If you try it, please let us know what you think thanks ken
  15. I like Tom Sawyers cut with a few different things too. usually we use about 75% TS and the rest whatever is left over from something else, Sorghum, Quinoa, buckwheat -- even tef.
  16. Me too, I much prefer it to other gluten-free flours. It's great for crepes, tortilla type roll-ups and gyoza pot stickers, Ravioli and much more.
  17. Wish we had one in Kona -- 1000 times better than outback I think. I do go to bonefish in Chicago a few times a year and your right it's really good and you would never know its a chain!
  18. At times it is very scary and at other times I don't even know it. Had a monitor on for a month that transmits and EKG and the doc would call in the early am to see if I was ok -- Id go into afib while sleeping and didnt know it. The hard part is that it saps all the energy.
  19. Kaiser makes us do the work and the internal pharmacy generally has no idea ( read that as Whats gluten?) Just this morning I did reach a company rep who had to contact France where the drug is made. Its corn starch and considered gluten free in a number of countries. They do do a lot to check for me. As its fairly recently approved in the US the 8...
  20. Does anyone have any experience with this drug for atrial fibrillation? All the ingredients lists show starch but none tell what type of starch. Thanks Ken
  21. I;ve been extremely ill from flour in the air -- so much so that I cant go into many restaurants where they make bread or pizza dough. I teach at our culinary school a few times a month and have to be scheduled at least 3 days after a bread class. We are all different so there is no telling what would happen to you but I hope you dont have to find out...

  23. We have many of them here but have a few bad experiences I most likely wont go back -- the good ones have very little English staff.. I used to bring them jackfruit and durian to trade for dinner before I got celiac 5 years ago...
  24. I have a problem with most thai places here in Kona as the language barrier makes me uneasy. ASked them to make sure they used no flour to thicken the curry and repeated it to make sure the waiter got it -- so he removed the flower on the table -- true story -- Some rice noodles sold here are 80% rice and 20% wheat -- Just have to be careful...
  25. I've never had any problems with "pure" spices but stay away from strange mixes or other combinations that might only say starch on the ingredients. If you get a jar of oregano or basil etc., it should be fine. I guess for me its hard to assume anything when it comes to gluten in food. Have to get used to checking everything each time you buy it -- formulas...
