ARCHIVED Why Is This So Unknown?
rez replied to Curious121's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I totally agree w/ you. My husband has been in the pharmaceutical industry for the last 10 years and they are responsible for setting up continuing ed programs, lunches, talks, etc. They also bring in the latest and greatest studies. Unfortunately, there's no study on Celiac because there's no drug to treat it. Sadly, will there ever be a drug if everyone... -
Why even bother with gluten containing flours. I bake the most delicious treats that are gluten free. No one even knows the difference. I'm in the process of making monster cookies right now. They are naturally gluten free when you use gluten free oats. YUM! I opened all the bags of M&M's and poured them in the cookies. I also love gluten free pantry...

ARCHIVED Rrrrrggg....this Is So Darn Hard Sometimes :(
rez replied to Mamato2boys's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I love our school and parents. Our school has just implemented a wellness policy. The kids can't have any snack that's over 40%fat. This means no cookies, cupcakes, cakes, etc. It's awesome. There's always fresh fruits and veggies and healthy treat for Thomas to choose from. It's great not having to try to bake all the time to try to duplicate gooey... -
Does anyone know anything or have any experience with bed wetting. We know my son is gluten intolerant and don't know if this could have anything to do with my 10 year old daughter wetting the bed. Any ideas? I don't want to jump to any conclusions and rush to put on the diet. She doesn't want anything to do with this diet. Please let me know if anyone...

ARCHIVED Pamela's (amazing) Wheat Free Bread Mix
rez replied to Nantzie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm going to have to try this bread. I made the Pamela's brownies and they were DISGUSTING and inedible. The gluten free pantry brownies are awesome!!! I have not found a decent bread yet. My poor little boy used to live on PB&J's and hasn't had one now in two months. I don't have a breadmaker. Do you think it's a necessity or could I do it in the... -
ARCHIVED Confused And Disouraged!
rez replied to hannahsue01's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hang in there! Go to Stashu's tonight and have a delicious gluten free pizza. YUM!! Go for the diet. It's delicious and nutritious! I have been following the diet with Thomas and my 14 years of GERD is gone. I feel better and our family is feeling healthy. Stashu's is off of John Deere Road. It's back behind where the furniture store Cohen's used... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Valid?
rez replied to brizzo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree, I doubt Enterolab sometimes too, but you can't dispute the gene test. One thing to remember is that they're not claiming to diagnose Celiac. They look for gluten sensitivity. I hope he publishes his journals for peer review as well. We need to keep that pressure on him. My friend did the test last year and they told her the medical journals... -
ARCHIVED Confused And Disouraged!
rez replied to hannahsue01's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Does this doc not recognize gluten intolerance? Was he not supportive of you trying the diet anyway? I hope he was helpful to you in some way because we have an appointment with him tomorrow. I thought Celiac had to be pretty progressed for it to show up in the blood. Did you ask Dr. Vernon about Enterolab. It will be an interesting appointment tomorrow... -
I so feel for you and understand. I am the care taker for my son. No one really understands how much time and effort go into researching, shopping, cooking and cleaning up the kitchen! This has been taking over my life and it puts stress on everyone. You can't just call the pizza guy anymore! All the conveniences are gone, but it does get better. Why...

Can someone please give me info on the ELISA test? Is it beneficial or a waste of time and money. How does it differ from Enterolab? Thanks so much.

ARCHIVED Help! Elisa Test Beneficial
rez posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Help. My son tested positive for gluten and casein sensitivity through enterolab. No malabsorbtion and was a 9 for ttg. He also has two DQ2 genes. the ttg number was one mark below postive. First doctor ran the wrong test while he was eating gluten and second doc wanted to run the right test when he had been off it for a month. I have a meeting w/ his... -

I live in Bettendorf and teach aerobics at Gold's Gym. I'm really want to start a new support group here. gigQC(gluten intolerance group of the quad cities) I have a friend who has a 3 year old little girl and a 2 year old little boy who are both gluten intolerant. We also want to raise awareness in the area. My boss' husband and daughter are both gluten... -

ARCHIVED So How Does "the World" Look Upon Enterolab?
rez replied to Yenni's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks Carla. You always seem to be there for me to offer sound advice. This is a boy that couldn't eat or sleep through the night. Would he have that response if it were Crohn's? I just need to have faith and believe in myself. Sometimes it just seems so serile. I'll be anxious to see what our doc says on Monday. I don't want to put him through any... -
ARCHIVED So How Does "the World" Look Upon Enterolab?
rez replied to Yenni's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Wow. I'm keeping myself awake at night stressing over this topic. I am taking info to my FP doc on Monday. I don't want to adjust my son's whole life if I'm not doing the right thing. It's such a huge adjustment, especially for an eight year old. What about ELISA testing? My doctor is willing to order that. Would that confirm the Enterolab results... -
ARCHIVED Chocolate?

ARCHIVED Help! Confused By Results
rez replied to rez's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Wow! This thread has really taken off. This has been my home away from home the past few weeks. Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions. The enterolab will show an intolerance even if you have been off gluten for up to a year. I highly reccommend it. Also, I bought the yummiest bars today. They are nana's indulgence bars. They have chocolate and... -

ARCHIVED Help! Confused By Results
rez posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I just got my son's results. He had and IgA for gluten of 17, and the cow's milk IgA was 14. I'm confused though because the ttg number was only 9. That indicated there was no autoimmune damage. He also has two copies of the gene DQ2/DQ8. The ttg number throws me off. It is 9, which is very close to 10, but I don't understand what the other elevated...
