  2. is wheatgrass safe or no? i am looking at it in a shampoo. i am having a terrible rash in my head and around my hairline which i think is caused by my current shampoo and conditioner with wheat in both...the product so far looks safe other than the wheatgrass? just think like buckwheat isn't wheat, and wheat is a grain not a grass right? --I am thoroughly...

  4. i see below- in another post- that some recommend 6 months or until blood work returns to normal. so that gives me a time frame to look at. we are rechecking my bloodwork monthly as far as I know. My primary said we can monitor that way or every three months. i rather do monthly since i am anxious to get going. thanks! Breann

  6. i have migraines as well, and also before was having daily headaches. after about 2-3 weeks gluten lite the headaches were still the same, but when i went gluten free- they tapered down after about the first week. i am only two weeks gluten free so this week has been my first without headaches (the daily there just enough to put you in pain, but you can still...
  7. i had a few really good days maybe 4-5 then got a few bad days and then went back to good. but I eliminated the processed food after my setback and that kept it brief i believe. Way to go on feeling better, its the best knowing that your diet is 'fixing' you and not some pill congrats on the progress! -Breann

  9. my vote is for pamela's amazing bread mix- (bread machine). that stuff is AWESOME- beats store bought regular gluten bread, and for sure that yucky gluten-free shelf bread. its super easy to make and takes less effort than driving to the store to buy bread i agree that it taste like that yummy bread your served at a restaraunt whilst wating on your food...
  10. I am not sure you are supposed to let the yeast touch liquid for some reason. hmm...I know, my bread machine says don't let the yeast touch liquid but rather place the yeast on top of the flour (dry ingrediants) and then its kneeded into the moist dough rather than the liquid... Hope your next loaf turns out fabulous!
  11. can i really, really, eat oatmeal ?? i LOVE oatmeal, and was SO sad to give it up, but according to the special and the DR on there, Oats aren't an enemy. what gives on that? -breann

I have been gluten-free for nearly two weeks and now my head is breaking out and my face in this raised itchy rash- my scalp has several scabs in it now. i am thinking maybe its the shampoo= it has wheat in it. i am gonna go grab some new products...
  14. i read the label and didn't notice any obvious gluten, but being a newbie didn't know if it was hiding behind a weird word. thanks! Breann
  15. Well thats good. Would you mind sharing your recipe. i am using mixes now because i am not really that good at baking. I am really happy with the pamelas mix, just not the price. I am happy that your bread turned out so well. i am looking at making some buns this week to freeze. gonna check williams sonoma for pans, or order off the internet. ...
  16. how much yeast did you use? did you use one packet or 1 tbs? how big was the pan you used? maybe your pan was too small? just some ideas? i am new at all this so i could be off base, but those were my guesses. my bobs red mill was okay in taste- but the pamelas is AWESOME- it really is amazing that its gluten free i made it the sweet bread style and...
  17. how did your bread turn out? I have made only three loafs of gluten-free bread in the machine so far and all three were different mixes/flours and they were all sticky, one loaf was bobs red mill gluten-free bread mix, quinoa flour loaf, and the other was Pamela's amazing bread mix which BY FAR was my FAV! i made the sweet loaf and its YUMMY! next time...

  20. i am making a loaf of pamelas amazing bread right now. and my bag came with -two- yeast packs. i only included ONE pack in the machine because the directions said place yeast pack (singular) on top of flour. is this right or was i supposed to put them both in there, and now have ruined my long awaiting bread thanks in advance. breann, who...
  21. I am hosting a luncheon at a restaurant in a couple weeks, and need help selecting something to eat thats safe (i know it won't be safe, but somewhat) . I am including a link to the menu. The -only- thing i am picking out as gluten free is the salad- i can sneak my own dressing in my purse to use. What else stands out as possibly safe? I will confirm...

  23. thats awesome! I read you liked the van's waffles, i thought those were okay, but LOVED the pamelas baking and pancake mix -waffles- i just made three batches of the recipe one night-(took maybe an hour to complete, with cleanup) baked them in the waffle iron- then froze them in ziplocs. they are YUM!!! with real maple syrup- you can not tell they are not...
  24. i was browsing the boards for good cookbook recommendations- I can't wait to get this book. i have the -The Gluten Free Gourmet Cooks Comfort Foods- on loan from the library, i haven't made anything from it yet but have enjoyed reading through it so far. -Breann-
  25. i have a veggie steamer that i use to steam rise at times. its fairly easy and straightforward to use. you could also buy one of those plug in hot burner things to carry- along with your own pot to work with. this is a inexpensive (cheaper) Zojirushi model of rice cooker- which has an incredible reputation!
