  1. Sheltons's chicken with wild rice and also their chili are gluten-free. There is a tomao soup in a container that is gluten-free but I can't remember the brand now. It's either Imagine or Pacific. Actually both might be but one contains dairy and we don't eat that.
  2. This cheese is good: Open Original Shared Link Be sure to get only the vegan as the other contains casein, a dairy derivative. Also this stuff is really good: Open Original Shared Link Their gravies are good too!
  3. My daughter has to avoid products with gluten and soy. Both cause a rash on her.
  4. I wound up making it on the stove. Daughter was feeling sick and now I think I am coming down with whatever it is. I cooked the noodles in boiling water, drained them and added them to the soup. The leftovers are in the fridge and the pasta held up well. Didn't suck up all the broth. I used Tinkyada Little Dreams and slightly undercooked them.
  5. I have not used the Bob's mixes and have not noticed a tinny taste.
  6. I don't know about gluten-free au jus mixes. There are gluten-free gravies but most of them contain soy. I got some that didn't and I bought it here: Open Original Shared Link
  7. We ate there last night and tonight. Limited menu to begin with, but they do have a gluten free menu and their food is good and cheap. I recommend them.
  8. Where do you stay? These days most all hotels and motels have refrigerators, but sometimes you need to ask. If you are driving, then perhaps you could buy one of those portable mini fridges that plugs into your car cigarette lighter. They're better than nothing.
  9. I LOVE minimus. We can't get their salad dressings because they all seem to have soy and daughter has a soy allergy. But we do get bowls of Trix cereal, single serve hummus, and several kinds of little meats. They also have cheeses, but we're allergic. A couple of things we always travel with are single serve size cans of green beans and kidney beans...
  10. I have made several cross country moves. I didn't know of the food allergies at the time, but I was diabetic so limited as to what I could eat. I always try to take food with me. And when I get to my destination for the night, I look for places where I can buy simple foods like fruit, vegetables and cheese and nuts. If you don't have to eat in a restaurant...
  11. Cross contamination.
  12. Let me know how it comes out.
  13. Can't use butter. Allergic.
  14. If you eat food from a restaurant, there is a big chance of cross contamination. If you get French Fries, there is a big chance of having them fried with something like onion rings and then you will get gluten on your fries. If you really want fries, it's best to make them at home. We buy the Alexa frozen brand. They are gluten free and organic.
  15. The soup I made last night had potatoes in it but she specifically wants noodles.
  16. I am very wary of buying things in bulk for fear of cross contamination. I don't think I would buy flour that way.
  17. Nope. He would never do that. He won't do anything that requires the slightest amount of bother. And he won't read notes. I don't think she likes chicken and rice soup too well. I get the Shelton's from time to time and she isn't so thrilled with it.
  18. I am on disablity but for other medical reasons. Gluten is not a problem for me. Except that daughter can't have it! I can tell you a bit about the process though. You will have to fill out a LOT of paperwork. You can print the papers off online and I think perhaps some of the process can be done online, but you will still need to do some stuff...
  19. I have to make use of my crockpot a couple of times a week at least because daughter is taking so many dance classes this year. I made vegetable beef soup in it tonight and it's really good. But daughter has requested chicken and noodle soup. I believe I made it in the days of old with the standard egg and gluten noodles and it worked. But would it...
  20. One thought. If you used an old bread pan/maker that was used prior for making a gluten containing bread, you could have gotten gluten that way. You need to buy a new one or give the one you have a thorough cleaning. Some here would say to toss it and just buy a new one. I take no chances any more. Either I line the pan with foil (depending on what I...
  21. The real things are so vile I can't see why someone would bother with a raw imitation of them!
  22. I've not heard of baking soda/powder with gluten in it, but have seen reference to making sure yours is gluten-free, so I assume there might be some out there that isn't. Someone posted here a while back that they saw some powdered sugar at Walmart that had wheat in it. I don't know what brand.
  23. The pinenuts they sell at Costco have a CC warning. I can't remember exactly what they could have been CC with, but it was something I couldn't eat so I didn't buy them.
  24. Daughter has come home almost every day this year and reported that the rest of the class got some kind of candy or other treat that she didn't because she is allergic. Of course that is partly her fault because I did send in Smarties which she lost and has since found. And then I sent in another bag which she failed to give to the teacher. Had the teacher...
  25. You really shouldn't. It's different for my daughter because she has an actual allergy and not celiac. Why don't you bake him something gluten free?
