  1. It's possible they could do you harm. I don't buy the wheat based cat litter because daughter is allergic to wheat. I am not allergic to wheat but I am allergic to dairy and seeing and smelling giant wheels of cheese or smelling cheese being grated in a restaurant makes me feel nauseaus. I am also allergic to eggs and dislike having to buy them for my...
  2. Once upon a time they did say that any shared treats had to be store bought and individually packaged. But the teachers just look the other way. We shall see. Have a meeting with the teacher on Tues.
  3. We had a turtle and it ate worms.
  4. That's a good idea! Thanks!
  5. I know. In past years they were not allowed to share lunches at all. As for pre-packaged things, that would be really tough to do given all of her allergies. There isn't a lot she can eat.
  6. Daughter is in 5th grade now and they have little buddies who are in Kindergarten. They read them stories. And today she just learned that tradition is, some day in the future, they will swap lunches with the buddy. She was very upset about this because of course it is highly unlikely she will be able to eat the other kid's lunch. The saving grace here...
  7. My daughter loves hummus with baby carrots, gluten-free crackers or breadsticks. Popcorn. I usually make it in a pan with coconut oil, but there are a couple of microveable ones with no oil that are dairy free. Bearitos is one and so is Garden of Eatin. Enjoy Life cookies and bars. Fruiit Rollups. Hard boiled eggs. She used to eat those before we learned...
  8. I like some of the stuff from Flying Apron. And shame on Central Market for no longer carrying their stuff! Daughter liked the triangular scones and the round berry pastries. Also the cupcakes. More recently we went to PCC in Edmonds. I got her some kind of apricot pastry and she liked it all but the apricots on the top. Got 3 other things that were...
  9. Hi neighbor! Central Market has a lot of gluten-free stuff. Also Tru Health in Bothell. The owner has celiac. They are very good to special order things if they don't have them in stock.
  10. Yes. I am a diabetic and I need some carbs, but not too many. I don't personally have an issue with gluten, but most bread is make with dairy or eggs which I do have an issue with. So in a restaurant, I can't have bread because I don't know if it is safe. And since my daughter can't have gluten, I feel it would be rude of me to eat something she can't...
  11. My daughter had it done at about age 3 and again recently at age 10. At age 3 they did her arm. At age 10 they did her back. The hardest part was keeping her still for the 20 minutes or so it took to wait for a reaction. It wasn't fun but it didn't hurt.
  12. Baby carrots, gluten-free cookies, breadsticks, fruit snacks, dried fruit, no nuts trail mix, beef jerky, pepperoni, salami.
  13. How about this? Open Original Shared Link You would have to sub in a gluten-free pasta and perhaps use bacon that you cooked as opposed to the bits.
  14. I too feel like I have seen such a recipe, but I can't think where I saw it. I recently made some potatoes in the crockpot. I thinly sliced potatoes and onions and layered them in the crockpot adding a bit of olive oil between the layers. I filled the crock and then poured 8 oz. of vegetable broth over it and cooked on low for about 8 hours. Very yummy...
  15. I didn't know that. Interesting.
  16. Thanks, but we can't have milk.
  17. What kind are they?
  18. The rolls I was referring to are served on individual plates and put right in front of us. I have no problem with other people getting rolls. But I request that they not be brought to daughter and I. For someone else to step in and demand that we get our rolls because we paid for them is just wrong, IMO. It's our food and I think we should be able to...
  19. I know how you feel. When my daughter and I go out to a place that serves rolls we always ask for "no rolls". Not a problem. However, my husband feels that we are paying for the rolls so we should get them. Now I would be fine with it if he had all the rolls placed in front of him and he ate them all. But no! He insists that the rolls be placed...
  20. The manager may have been confused or didn't really know what gluten was. I've found sometimes in the case of food allergies, they just don't want to serve you, lest you get sick or die or something and the blame can be pinned on them.
  21. I believe soy pushed my thyroid over the edge. I used to consume a lot of it. I brought Tiger's Milk bars to work for snacks. I ate Edamame, roasted soy nuts, Bocca Burgers and paid no mind to any soy that was in the other foods I ate. Then when I was pregnant, I developed a thyroid problem. I figured it was only a matter of time since thyroid problems...
  22. I can relate to the donut thing. Daughter and I were just at the store and they're in the middle of a remodel. Because of this, the donut case was sort of standing alone and glowing because of the way the light was shining on it. We both just stood there taking it all in. I can't remember the last time I had a donut! I did have some donut holes when...
  23. My daughter had very fine, almost clear hair until she was 2. Had her first haircut at about age 3. Her hair was still very fine, thin, and straight. She went gluten-free at 6. Soon new hair was growing in like crazy. Now at age 10, the new hair is still coming in like mad and it is curly! Which is kind of weird. She does dance and I have to...
  24. Wow! That's really bad. My daughter's school has portables with no facilities, but no stairs.
