  1. Good Luck, I hope you find it soon. I'm sure you have already done this at least 15 times, but take a deep breath, clear your mind & then look in the first place that you thought it might be, but didn't find it when you looked the first time - pockets? maybe you took it off sub-consciously to keep it safe? I lost mine while gardening. I looked through...
  2. Oh, one more thing. If you're into organic gardening, you must check out the "Manic Organic". This guy is the biggest nutcase, you've got to love it. He'll tell you all about the critters, soil conditions, and cheffing up some good stuff! It's on one of the discovery channels. Open Original Shared Link
  3. Oh, gardening has saved my life this year (talk about coping!). Your veggies look so fun. Last year, we started 2 compost areas for our flower gardens because we were eating so may veggies. We decided to plop our starter tomatoes right into the compost pits about a month ago instead of using them for garden compost. They're growing like weeds - beautiful...
  4. Pizza, Pizza, Pizza (Papa John's), garlic bread - mmmmm, pizza, fried chicken, pizza, pizza, cinnabon, pizza
  5. I think most of us go through this. I did. It's a lifestyle change that isn't something that the "general public" goes through. The label thing, the eating thing, the people that don't understand, and for me, my head got so cluttered up with a world that I didn't even know existed. I understand when you say it would be easier to just feel bad. I've wondered...
  6. Hi, Depending on the type of Lily, it will most likely go into dormancy for the winter. If it's a Stargazer bulb, for instance, it will most likely begin to yellow and then will look like it's dying. Don't cut it ! Let the leaves die off. This is important for photosynthesis and a nice plant next year. This is a good time for fertilizer. Then, let...
  7. I usually make 'em fresh. It's always some variation on the same thing. Fresh onions, garlic, red bell peppers, spices: cumin, paprika, oregano, chili powder & stuff like that. fajitas
  8. I like the way you put that because it's true. I really enjoy getting together with the family. I also have come to realize (now that I'm more 'in control' ) that people do show more respect. And, I don't want to explain it anymore. Make the company of them more important than the issue - that should work. I've been better about prepping food and...
  9. Right, I'm getting to the point where I really don't care what others say or think about it or anything else. I've always tried to justify everything for fear of being misunderstood or disapproved of. Lately, I don't think I should have to justify anything in my life. It is what it is. If someone doesn't approve or validate my decisions, it's just going...
  10. You know what? This is rediculous. I'm a big girl, & I'll make my own choices. I don't need to justify it to anyone. I'm simply not willing to risk it yet & they're going to have to accept it. I can't afford to care right now if it's okay with them. It's my turn to be happy ! Thank You.
  11. 7 months in: Venting on my first family frustration. My sister saw the People article. Of course, now, she thinks she's a celiac expert & wants me to take a 4 day trip up the coast with her because she thinks I can eat any grilled protein or veggies from a restaurant. I don't even know if I'm "Celiac" or just gluten intolerant. Does it matter? Of...
  12. True that. I don't think blood is a common additive. edited: I'm a little slow. Missed the technically part - I'm guilty of this much of the time. I must learn to listen better.
  13. Just wanted to mention that Albumin is a blood protein also. It is what my diagnosis is based on - I have a deficiency of this blood protein due to 'spillage' and it makes up a large portion of the blood plasma in humans. My diagnosis is a kidney disease.
  14. What a wonderful description of a really neat experience ! I was telling my mother that maybe in the next couple years, we'd (the hubby and I) forego the annual Hawaii trip and sneak away to South America. Captures a zest for life and folks that few people appreciate. I'd love to go there someday and have some rich experiences of our own with people who...
  15. Redbridge, for sure. New Grist has that strange aftertaste, and it's a bit too frothy for me. My guess would be that they don't label it gluten free because they don't want to discourage the general public from trying it. I would guess they are aware that people who are gluten free either already know about it, or will soon (by advertising). I've noticed...
  16. Wow - what a cool gift. And, kinda trippy too!
  17. Hmmmmm ... thanks Nikki. I had no idea it was so anti-oxidanty. I'm definitely going to try it - after my lab tests this week. It's not nearly as bazaar as I thought it might be. I'm game.
  18. I really don't expect that anyone will know what this is, but I'm gonna hope for the best. Okay - here it is - My mother brought me a gift from Argentina. It's really bazaar. I'm wondering what's in it. It's called Mate Tea Elaborado. I've searched the internet, but can't find any info in English (duh). It's kind of funny. She said that people there...
  19. fajitas are good. I like 'em. I like to make 'em - I like to eat 'em. Mmmmmm ... fajitas. I don't see myself as a fajita - it has nothing to do with my job - nothing to do with anything, really. Maybe I was eating fajitas when I signed up? I really don't know. Maybe I had a dream about fajitas. It's easy to type the word fajitas ... maybe that's why...
  20. I just found a list on "about". Check it out - Rye extract & wheat extract and flour were listed. Open Original Shared Link I've smoked for about 18 years - can't seem to make the decision to kick it for good. A funny thing happened when I read this thread. I realized that I'm more afraid of gluten than the hundreds of carcinogens in cigarettes...
  21. Wanted to mention - this is a tough game - photography. I just checked into his gig again - looks like the pricing structure has changed - he's more reasonable as far as pricing goes than he was before. We did a lot of starving back in the day. There's so much more to making your photos work for you than just taking a picture - but you know that already...
  22. Edited - oops I have to say ... these are some of the best amateur photos I've seen. I used to work as an admin. asst. for a professional photographer. I saw him go from $100 portraits to $18,000 weddings - oops-typo - $8,000. He's now one of the best in San Diego. We used to sort through hundreds of photos to get just a few that had the Wow Factor like...
  23. Apologies - I didn't intend to hiijack - was just answering another post within this thread. My intention was to say that there are many sides to it. My perspective was just one. We all continue to do all the things that bring us to exactly where we are.
  24. JerryK, Do I remember you saying you have anxiety/depression issues when you eat gluten? I'm pretty sure that you don't want to have anxiety, given the choice. Don't you kind of feel like maybe you spent enough of your life with these types of issues? Why invite even one more day of that into your life? One day is precious to me - I'd think that every...
  25. My 2 cents on MSG: MSG is just another thing that some people choose to exclude from their diets for various reasons. MSG isn't typically a gluten problem. That is not to say that it isn't a problem. It very well may be. It's a whole different bag of tricks. Some people have reactions, some don't. I'll post a couple links, but I'd like to say a couple...
