  1. So good for you that the doctor knew something about celiac. I hope the doctor will pursue this.
  2. Hi Interesitn to hear how they treat youwith celiac in France. Here in Norway, those with a diagnosis get 1600NOK (200 euro) a month from NAV, the health and work ans social security office. They pay the regular doctor fees, about 15 euros with a roof of about 200 euros a year for both doctor fees and treatments and chronic disease medicines combined. nora
  3. The esophagus, here is a blog entry about eosiphilic esophagus. Open Original Shared Link There are sometimes postings about symptoms like that on the celiac forums. I have something like that too and I am trying to get it looked at. nora
  4. Brain fog is also a very common symptom of hypothyroidism, and even those taking thyroxine can have brain fog due to low t3 because they are taking only t4. Be sure to get thyroid tests done too. nora
  5. Maybe you should post this in the pre-diagnosis folder here. It is much busier and they are very good at tests and genes. Nora
  6. My daughter sleeps for a day if she gets food with milk or traces of milk. There waws also an article on celiac.com that in many celiacs, casein does things to the villi too. I reverse letters etc after glutening but not with milk.
  7. Interesting discussion. I just want to mention that I react to yeasts and citric acid. I also have a positive blood test for IgG antibodies to yeasts. .... Guess how they make citiric acid.....that is why I would not try calcium citrate... nora
  8. Hi Regular blood tests require eating lots of gluten for at least 6 weeks to 3 months beforehand they say... My daughter got a diagnosis of celiac with negative blood tests and biopsies, but had to fight for it. But she had been gluten-free for some months beforehand and experienced dramatic improvements. nora
  9. Okay, I red the labs and of interest are on nr 4 the low ferritin of 9, and on nr 5 the gliadin IgG of 78, reference range 0-19. Gliadin IgA was 2, same range. Was total IgA done? I can see no other celiac tests, like teh tissue transglutaminase IgA or IgG of same, or hte endomysial antibodies, both of which are very specific. On nr 6 there are...
  10. I tried to put the link into a txt document and to shorten the link, and this one works better: Open Original Shared Link so if the others want to comment the labs are there.
  11. I have read a lot of postings about people having problems with fruit, the fruit sugar. You might want to look it up on the internet. Bloating is one of the symptoms. Also, many celiacs have problems with fiber (roughage) in the beginning of a gluten-free diet. This is because the villi are damaged.
  12. Yes, this is the same test as here, and it says on teh pdf that M
  13. If you had the same home test as we have in Norway, it was a Ttg-2 test invented by Matti M
  14. Hi, I am in europe and here we need an official diagnosis. This os only done by biopsies of the small intestine, looking for damage to the villi and some more signs in the biopsy slides. Now, the home test may be weak or strong, but any kind of positive test result is definitely positive. You need to talk to a doctor as soon as possible. Do get in...
  15. Here is an old posting about amongst other things double dq3: Open Original Shared Link nora
  16. Paleo diet should be low oxalate and certainly potato-free I think. There should be some websites around for paleo recipes. Walnuts should be okay i think. Maybe blood type diet type 0 should be very close. There are type 0 recipes around too. I am type 0 and react to gluten and milk so the similarity has struck me. Type 0 should not have potatoes either...
  17. ere in thiscountry we have this quick home test for ttg2-antibodies.. I guess you do not have it yet in the US? Might be thyroid too as well. Have you heard about muscle testing, it is free and one can do it at home, you hold a food and someone else presses down your other arm....it is not completely reliable, though. but worth a try. You can have candida...
  18. Chris, if you are aboe to access the bmj online at all, there are some really good articles about celiac there, and one in particular is about seronegative celiac disease. Sometimes the antibodies take many years to turn positive, even after total villous atrophy. The only valid test here in europe is a biopsy. even a negative biopsy does not exclude...
  19. Yes, I agree, you ought to go low-carb for several reasons, one of them is that thyroid meds do not work well unless one is low-carb because a slight insulin resistance clogs up the thyroid hormone receptors it looks like, and you already feel the gluten-free carbs you eat sit like a brick in the stomach.... I read the webpages and the books on atkins...
  20. I am totally gluten-free and I do not eat gluten-free bread and gluten-free mixes and gluten-free pizzas etc either. And, they are made with codex wheat starch here and I do not tolerate even traces of that. So I just give up the idea of bread. And the benefit is being low-carb. I have baked bread without wheat starch but with gluten-free oats for daughter...
  21. You might get more meaningful hits with a search if you type in DQ7 and DQ8 because that is what that means. DQ8 is an official celiac gene and DQ7 has also been described as a gluten-sensitive gene because it is so similar to DQ8. But the DQ8 should be enough anyway. Both DQ7, DQ8 and D9 are subsets of DQ3 and quite similar. Here something about...
  22. She probably meant endomysial antibodies and the test for dq2 or dq8.
  23. I was overweight while eating gluten, and lost 19-20 kg since. I weigh now 52-53 kg. When back on gluten for a biopsy and testslast year I was hungry all the time(but I have no diagnosis) nora
  24. Hi I am in Norway and hypothyroid too. Daughter has autoimmune thyroid problems too, both hypo and hyper. Her antibodies went down after trying gluten-free! She has a diagnoisis now in spite of both negative biopsies and blood tests, but she did test positive to lactalbulmin antibodies (=milk) and she does not toerate even traces of milk or gluten...
