  1. The Ttg tests were negative (and i think they ought to have given tha ranges) and the antigliadin were positive. Actually, they are not considered very very specific for celiac, but Dr. Ford in Nz has a whole website about the antigliadin tests as he and many others have found out that they do mean something. Open Original Shared Link My daugher...
  2. About the TSH, normal TSH is quite close to 1. Yours is actually quite normal, even it is a tiny bit below 1. About the biopsy, maybe you should ask for someone else to review the slides, as they usually comment on the height of the villi and neutrophils in the villi. Maybe teh comment about inflammation meant there were none. But the sandard is to count...
  3. Yes, celiac is more common in those 10% who have low IGA. One would then expect them to run the antigliadin and tissue transglutaminase tests in the IgG version. They only checked for DQ2 and 8. They found the DQ8 which is 0302. DQ7,8 and 9 are all DQ3. 0202 and 0201 are both DQ1. 05* and 06* are DQ5 and 6, which are subtypes of DQ1. Tehy probably...
  4. All my tests were negative, but i do have nevrological symptoms from gluten, or from being glutened. You do not have to show positive blood results. The antibodies are probably more local. But I had this DH -like rash since 03, which burnt and went away after trying gluten-free and came back on a gluten challenge. Noone wants to look into that...and my...
  5. About the white matter things and gluten, there are several entries about that in www.pubmed.com YOu probably have read on all the autistic webpages where they report gluten and casein sensitivity, haven't you? And Dr. Karl Ludwig Reichelt's work? The urine test is now done at neurozym. (peptide test for casein and gliadin) Open Original Shared Link Open...
  6. Mommida, I think you should ask the lab to re-do the test. Obviously either they screwd up, or you are a medical sensation (chimera) BTW, someone posted about chimeras the other day, they called it non-identical twins or semi-identical twins. (they were hermaphrodites)
  7. Via www.pubmed.com I have seen 2 articles by Dr. Hadjivassiliou where he specifically mentions DQ1 and gluten and nevrological symptoms and Ttg antibodies. I have even seen more articles online, but the links are via the braitalk or neurotalk forum. Several people that are DQ1 do post there. DQ1 are: DQ1, DQ5 DQ6, or the other nomenclature: DQ1 subtype...
  8. mommida, you simply must have either DQ2 or 8 if your daughter is DQ2-DQ8. She got one allele from you, and one from her father. If not, you must be a chimera, and still have DQ2 or 8 in the intestines, but non- DQ2 or 8 in the sample you gave. nora
  9. My daughter never had any postitive blood test of biopsy, but she did get a diagnosis, based on her very distinct symptoms. She only has a posotive casein test (antibodies against cow's milk) , which many celiacs have. Some people never have positive tests, and with some it takes years and some reported needing three biopsies. There is something in the...
  10. Sheryl, double DQ7 I remember is one of the gluten sensitive genes. Just do a search on it. I am not DQ2 or 8 either and some with DQ1 post that they are even more gluten sensitive than proper celiacs.... I react to even tiny amounts of the wehat starch that the celiacs here tolerate. I might be DQ1 but cannot find out. They only give DQ2 or 8 results...
  11. Georgiagirl, I think you shoud keep eating gluten and get a proper biopsy. That is because you were eating gluten up to now, and if you waant to go back on gluten later you need to be on gluten for at least three months they say now. Get it done now. I think the blood test results mean you are almost quite positive, and my daughter and I never even had...
  12. Hi Sorry for the loss of mother-in-law. What test did you order? They have some interesting tests in Germany, even one with 300 foodstuffs. And there is one where they use a drop of the food and a drop of the blood and they watch and see if something happens. I saw Ritter chocolate at the airport last week, I live close by. They even have american hershey...
  13. I just had the yorktest IgG tests done, they tested for 116 foods and I had a lsightly storng reaction to yeast and weak reactions to beans, various beans, soy and molluscs. I have read several other postigs about those tests at this and other forums, and some say they were surprised at the findings as they never eat this or that. Someone tried a no-no...
  14. I am in europe too. I have not tested MSG here, actually....I am very sensitive. i react to citric acid! There was a discussion about citric acid and such things at the delphi celiac forum, and one person there who is very sensitive had been to europe and reacte to citric acid here. She tried to find out what it was made of, and here in europe it often...
  15. Interesting, as most of the abstrats say that it is almost always related to total vilious atrophy. I guess she is one of the wxceptions and we have to be reminded of them. My daughter was very ill for many years and yet all tests and biopsies were negative, but she had been off gluten and then back on for the tests. she did get a diagnosis because of...
  16. Hi Sharon, I have similar issues, daughter diagnosed celiac and I do not tolerate gluten either. I started baking gluten-free for her and also at the same time went low-carb. (oneandanhalf year ago). I then noticed I got severe reactions at cristmas and other times when there is gluten and cakes with cream. I had avoded all milk for years, bu I did tolerate...
  17. Which IgA test was 12? Which IgG test was 89? Loks like the antigliadin tests. There are two versions of the Ttg-test as well, the IgA version and the IgG version. The endomysial antibody tests only will be positive if there is total villious atrophy. most people have patchy atrophy. And the antigliadin tests are not so specific, but many people and...
  18. Sonja, SCD = The Specific carbohydrate Diet, there are several websites about it, heard about it on the crohns-colitis newsgroup. As you are officially diagnosed with irritable bowel disease now, it might be worth checking... Some celiacs react very much to bananas. I had some reactions to bananas last summer, but now after some months gluten-free they...
  19. The mold thing is interesting. When I type in mold and coeliac into pubmed I get Open Original Shared Link nora
  20. Lonewolf, from what I have read on other forums and here, those with DQ1 (which include subtypes 5 and 6, both are DQ1) can be even more sensitive to gluten than those with the classic genes. I am not DQ2 or 8 either, and very sensitive. I am in Europe, and we have this codex whet starch here, and I cannot tolerate even a speck of it, and not even...
  21. Damage in the small intestine is often patchy, and easily missed. I read posting the other day on another forum where the endoscopy was negative, but she got a capsule endoscopy with camera and the pictures showed partially villous atrophy with typical changes , and the next biopsies showed celiac, probably because they happened to take samples from the right...
  22. Hi I think it is a good idea to try things like you started now, could be fruit and carbs intolerance due to gluten intolerance like the SCD people say (enzyme stuff)..... (you mean probiotics, don't you?) Hope it all works out for you! Greetings nora
  23. Also, there is an iteresting post about a speech Dr. Fine made at a meeting: Open Original Shared Link ."......Dr. Fine's diet: Eliminate gluten, dairy, added yeast, soy, corn, eggs, nuts(if a problem), all grains, legumes and nightshades. He soaks nuts in water in a glass container to make them more digestable. He eats non-acid fruits, soaked nuts, a colorful...
  24. Hi Sonja! Well, I got glutened by some chocolate whci had some starch but was lited as not containing gluten on the website...Smash was the name. I think I will complain to the company. I had only been eating the organic gluten--and milkfree chocolate before, and will stick to that I think, as the others are not good about cc or the ingredients themselves...
  25. DQB1*06 is DQ1 (B mens beta allele, and there si an alpha allele too but not mentioned here but sometimes they will spell them out in articles.) and DQB1*0301 is DQ7. Now DQ7 is a celiac gene, and if someone has two of them one is super-celiac. You have one of each. DQ1 is the type where you have nevrological presentations. there are a lot of postings...
