ARCHIVED Airport Security
CaraLouise replied to munchkinette's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I just got back from a flight and I took ice cubes around my cottage cheese and had no problem in security. I have also traveled with those gel packs, but it varies from airport to airport. I think it may have to do with the xray machines that they use. It seems to me that the more high tech the equipment, the less picky they are about liquids and gels... -

ARCHIVED Mom's Spagettii Sauce
CaraLouise replied to SweetAmber32's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Hunts tomato sauce in a can all the time and have never had a problem. I think Hunts it is a ConAgra product, so it will list any gluten on the can. -
This is a response from corporate, but I have always ordered steamed crab legs anyway (They are my favorite). At my OKC Celiac meeting I had heard a rumor that the baked potatoes weren't gluten free so I contacted corporate to find out. I will tell you though some Red Lobsters are definitely better then others though. Luckily the one in OKC is great!

ARCHIVED Celiac And Dating/relationships
CaraLouise replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is a wonderful topic. I appreciate all your replies on this because I think it is hard to be very social when so much of our social functions revolve around food. Thanks for the uplifting thoughts! -
We appreciate your inquiry regarding the availability of gluten-free items on our menu. Because your health is so important to us, we cannot guarantee anything on our menus to be free of gluten. Red Lobster's kitchens are not allergen-free environments and neither are those of our suppliers. In addition, all of our fried food selections are prepared in...

I am a Presbyterian too and I have have worked with two churches to provide an alternative option. Out church now has gluten free wafers in a separate plate and a separate cup to dip it on, or in my previous church the plate was passed and they had a separate plate for me. I quit my job because I was effected by the food. I worked as a manager in a health club/restaurant where we served wraps, sandwiches, pasta, good for you brownies and muffins. Constantly being in that environment caused me to have reactions. It was hard to quit but I feel so much better since I did!

ARCHIVED The Celiac Belly
CaraLouise replied to Emily Elizabeth's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I don't know, but maybe you are not getting enough to eat and so your body is retaliating by the end of the week. I might try umping my food portions for a week and seeing if that might help. -
Here is an e-mail I just received from Elephant Bar. It doesn't look very celiac friendly to me! Thank you for taking the time to e-mail us at the Elephant Bar Restaurant. ARCHIVED Seems Like A Lot Of People Are Having Trouble With Sleep Lately...
CaraLouise replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
On thing that really helped me drown out the noise of my roommates in college was a high powered fan right by my bed. I would turn it on and the rhythm would be what I focused on. As with most college campuses it was pretty noisy and this helped me go to sleep a lot! -
