  1. I just got back from a flight and I took ice cubes around my cottage cheese and had no problem in security. I have also traveled with those gel packs, but it varies from airport to airport. I think it may have to do with the xray machines that they use. It seems to me that the more high tech the equipment, the less picky they are about liquids and gels...
  2. What brands of Cocoa powder do you use? Are there any that are unsafe? Thanks!
  3. The Daily Oklahoman published a great feature article on Celiac Disease today. Check it out at Open Original Shared Link. Enjoy!
  4. I cannot find the gluten free menu, where did you see it?
  5. I agree with you, they say they have the gluten free certification, but I have not seen it on all the products on this list. I don't think they have updated their website in a long time, but regardless here is what the website says: Do you have a listing of JENNIE-O TURKEY STORE
  6. I love to make toasted Peanut Butter Sandwiches on them! They are my favorite kind of bread!
  7. This was posted by the leader of the CSA group in OKC on their message board. Hope this helps! Here's the gluten-free menu as of July 1, 2008: Abuelos Mexican Food Embasy Gluten Free Menu Items listed are gluten free or can be modified as noted to be gluten free! Appetizers Guacamole Nacho Bowl
  8. I use Hunts tomato sauce in a can all the time and have never had a problem. I think Hunts it is a ConAgra product, so it will list any gluten on the can.
  9. This is a response from corporate, but I have always ordered steamed crab legs anyway (They are my favorite). At my OKC Celiac meeting I had heard a rumor that the baked potatoes weren't gluten free so I contacted corporate to find out. I will tell you though some Red Lobsters are definitely better then others though. Luckily the one in OKC is great!
  10. This is a wonderful topic. I appreciate all your replies on this because I think it is hard to be very social when so much of our social functions revolve around food. Thanks for the uplifting thoughts!
  11. We appreciate your inquiry regarding the availability of gluten-free items on our menu. Because your health is so important to us, we cannot guarantee anything on our menus to be free of gluten. Red Lobster's kitchens are not allergen-free environments and neither are those of our suppliers. In addition, all of our fried food selections are prepared in...
  12. Anybody have any suggestions?
  13. I will be traveling to the Savannah, GA area in August? Does anyone have any advice on what restaurants and health food stores are there?
  14. I will be going to the Savannah-Hilton Head area in August. Any ideas on where to eat, what to do, where to stay? I would appreciate it.

  16. I am a Presbyterian too and I have have worked with two churches to provide an alternative option. Out church now has gluten free wafers in a separate plate and a separate cup to dip it on, or in my previous church the plate was passed and they had a separate plate for me. Just talk to your pastor and let them know the problem. Feel free to pm me if you...
  17. I quit my job because I was effected by the food. I worked as a manager in a health club/restaurant where we served wraps, sandwiches, pasta, good for you brownies and muffins. Constantly being in that environment caused me to have reactions. It was hard to quit but I feel so much better since I did!
  18. I read this on about.com (Open Original Shared Link): Your Old Cell Phones Can Help The Gluten Intolerance Group If you have any inactive cell phones lying around, you might consider donating them to the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America. The phones will be recycled, and the Gluten Intolerance Group will receive a payment for each phone. If...
  19. Just planted 4 tomato plants and 12 pepper plants, plus I'm trying something new! Wildflowers! Anybody ever had any experience growing them from seeds! I am excited.
  20. I don't know, but maybe you are not getting enough to eat and so your body is retaliating by the end of the week. I might try umping my food portions for a week and seeing if that might help.
  21. Here is an e-mail I just received from Elephant Bar. It doesn't look very celiac friendly to me! Thank you for taking the time to e-mail us at the Elephant Bar Restaurant. We understand the need for information on gluten free items, but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that any of our menu items are gluten free or do not contain traces...
  22. I check the website and it has a minute amount of corn gluten, so if he has problems with corn then that could be the problem.
  23. On thing that really helped me drown out the noise of my roommates in college was a high powered fan right by my bed. I would turn it on and the rhythm would be what I focused on. As with most college campuses it was pretty noisy and this helped me go to sleep a lot!
  24. I haven't had any problems with the package I got.
