ARCHIVED Help -- Buffet Lunches?
CaraLouise replied to I'm a glutant's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
How about a baked potato bar or you could have a buffet table set up with the gluten free items first and then the gluten items so people did not have any gluten items on their plate. Good luck! -
Please do be careful, I had to quit my job working in a health cafe due to the fact that I was getting sick just being around the tortillas and other gluten food.

ARCHIVED Female Trouble
CaraLouise replied to henny's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am having problems too. For the past two-three months, I have been having light blood after urinating. I had a blood test and it wasn't an infection. The doctor thought it might be spotting, but I am on birth control (Seasonique) and have not had a regular period in over 5 years, which is not normal because I am 23. Last night I had terrible cramps... -
I have been thinking about this a lot lately, especially since it came up at this board. How would you go about starting a food pantry for those with extra special needs? I am really interested in this and would love to start one. I work at a church so I maybe it could be funded that way, what do you all think?

I think it would be a wonderful idea to start a non-profit for those with allergies and low income. Teaching them about good nutrition and how to eat good on a low budget.

ARCHIVED Vegan Rella Cheese
CaraLouise posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am so frustrated, I made me these wonderful looking quesidillas and had taken a few bites, I had read the label a billion times on the cheese and yet I missed the oat flour. I just happened to find out on this site from a year ago that it contained it! I had only a few bites and I am thankful that it is just oat flour (since I can eat gluten free oats... -

ARCHIVED Celiacs With Chronic C
CaraLouise replied to wschmucks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Those are wonderful suggestions. I too have this problem most of the time. My doctor recommended taking Miralax and that seemed to help. I eat a ton of fiber and so I know that is not the issue, however I can tell I am not absorbing all my food (if you know what I mean). One thing I notice is that when I am stressed it is the worst. Thanks again! I... -

ARCHIVED What Do You Do When You Receive Cookies And Cakes As Gifts?
CaraLouise replied to Amyleigh0007's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I work in a church and am given food a lot and I just thank them for the gift and pass it along to someone who will enjoy it. -
Thanks for the info, I think I may have this problem because no one can figure out why I still have digestion problems.

I get the steamed crab legs and plain uncut baked potato and un-seasoned vegetables. All their seasonings have gluten in them I think. Just make sure you are really clear. Hope this helps.

ARCHIVED Gingerbread House
CaraLouise replied to Kylie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You could also use Kinnikinnick's graham crackers for the base and just frost them to form a gingerbread house. Haven't tried it, but it should work! -

I definitely have seasonal changes. When it gets cold, I get worse. But I do like the holidays and snow, so that makes it a little better.

CaraLouise posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know if Pepcid or Zantac are gluten free? What about Claritin or Zyrtec? Thanks! -
I eat steamed crab legs, uncut baked potato, and unseasoned vegetables. The manager always comes and talks with me at my Red Lobster after I give them my card. They do make mistakes though, but then most restaurants do, but they always realize they do it and I never have had any problems.

ARCHIVED Celiac And Irregular Menstrual Cycles
CaraLouise replied to MissDigital's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My period stopped about 4-5 years ago and I am only 23 now. I started when I was around 12, never regular though. The doctors all say that it is hypothalamic dysfunction, something that my brain turned off. Gluten free has not made mine any better though and I take hormone replacement therapy. -

ARCHIVED Is There Like An Allergy Proof Card?
CaraLouise replied to B R I A N A's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have a doctor's note and that works to get into places that don't allow food. Or at least it has for me, in fact I have just said I have one and health needs and they usually just let me in. Hope this helps!
