  1. You are most welcome! By the way, you do know to take magnesium citrate to bowel tolerance for C, yes? Bea
  2. Good deal with what you have tried so far! Next I would take some baking soda in water. If that isn't enough, an hour later try taking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in water. You can repeat this regime as long as needed. Don't take both vinegar and baking soda at once since otherwise you will fizz! Do you have any idea why you are feeling this way...
  3. They help with most any type of intestinal inflammation which is often the source of either C or D. You can take the caps or just get the powder. Follow the directions on the bottle. You could probably use a little extra if you want. The usual ones from Natures Way are good. As a powder I take 2 to three teaspoons of marshmallow root a day, depending on...
  4. I think Ravenwood made a good suggestion, see a doc if you have the cash! But just remember make sure its a doc. that knows his or her stuff about digestion and diet since many doctors are not so up on that subject to put it mildly. No matter what you want to make sure you don't have some dread disease at the bottom of all this. However I think its also...
  5. I suggest taking marshmallow caps and/or slipper elm to help soothe and heal the intestines and get rid of the inflammation you may be feeling. Bea

    ARCHIVED Caveman?

How nice you can eat tomatoes again! Shows you can get better after a while... Wish I could have cheddar cheese! but it seems to still not be got for me. However yogurt I could almost eat all day... Bea
  7. Wow! I hope you get better soon! Do try some of the herbs I suggested. They really might help. Stay away from anything however that is an immune stimulant. Bea
  8. Whether one has true testable candida overgrowth or not, you may still have a problem with it or some other fungal situation. One way to check is to look at your tongue. Is it white and gucky in the morning? If you do decide to go off sugar(s), there are some slow to digest starches out there. Oddly enough yams and sweet potatoes are a couple. Other root...

    ARCHIVED Caveman?

I have found the paleo diet to be very helpful over the years especially when I don't feel well, although I would also add root vegetables to it... Bea
  10. I was originally diagnosed as an infant at age 4 or 5 months after I got pneumonia and was failing to thrive--which meant I stopped growing. I was unfortunately put back onto gluten at age four and kept on it since it no longer stopped me from growing. The fact it made me weird and ill didn't seem to phase or get noticed by anyone. I finally figured out...
  11. I don't know about any articles about this subject, however I have had problems with this too given my work helping renovate old houses. However I have been told there is gluten in the attachment of the paper that holds it together. There is a new kind of drywall that doesn't have paper that probably has gluten in it. Also the premixed plaster has gluten...

There is a new kind of drywall that doesn't have paper that probably has gluten in it. Also the premixed plaster has gluten in it usually. YOu can mix your own plaster instead however.

    ARCHIVED Now What?

I have found yams and sweet potatoes safe starches. Same with (washed!) cooked quinoa. Teff is also easy to digest. Potatoes can be iffy for some. They are for me... Bea
  14. Glad to be of help. I know how confusing it can be, especially at first. I actually started to get pre cancerous warts as a young adult before I figured out I was "allergic" to wheat, rye and oats. I rarely had barley. It wasn't til much later that I found out I had celiac and even later than that realized that I needed to go off all trace glutens. But...

    ARCHIVED Now What?

I agree--its either something you are still eating that you are allergic to or its bacterial/microbial or candida overgrowth. Besides the pro-biotics (of which you can get some that are not milk based) I suggest you also try taking slippery elm and/or marshmallow root to sooth your intestines and heal your villi. For me, I would be allergic or react to the...
  16. If you really think it might be cancer you should go to your local county hospital to get it checked out. My belief is that they would help you and it wouldn't cost you very much if you don't make or have much money. Meanwhile, slippery elm and marshmallow root soothe and help heal the villi and take down inflammation in the intestines. Dandelion root...
  17. I agree--it is wonderful on that level. I have had fingernails all along but now they no longer peel, plus my teeth have finally hardened, hair wavy and no longer always falling out etc. etc. Plus much healthier overall. It is a drag sometimes socially, however it shows who is really there for you and who is not, so in a way it saves time. Bea
  18. I really doubt that McDonald's could accomodate you at this time. To be certain there will be cross contamination since they don't have a separate area for food prep for celiac. In addition its likely their hamburger has some kind of gluten in it to help "stretch" it. Further its possible the vinegar and pickles etc. could be a problem for you. I can't handle...
  19. I resonate with what you are saying. It really is like walking around landmines. That's why for the few times I do go out to eat that I always ask before I order what their pans they use for this are like, if they wash their hands for my food specifically both in prep and bringing the order, if they have a separate cutting board etc. Plus so far I have only...
  20. Very big Light bulb indeed! Ignorance isn't such big bliss, eh? Don't know about balsamic vinegar. I would think though whether or not it had an apple cider base would be the bottom line...?? Though some wine vinegars mights be OK?? Someone help us here... Bea
  21. "rant over/ anyone else have to deal with this crap? " All the time, what do you think? I find its best to bring my own, including my own herbal tea in a thermos....or create my own event and serve myself and others like me first. Though there have been times I haven't had symptoms after eating out. However I have to be very careful! Plus remind them...
  22. Hi Rinne, I hadn't thought of that ("I've felt for years that calling such knowledge "old wives' tales" served the double purpose of creating distrust and insulting women. " ). But its true. After the year 1000 in Europe, educated women were targeted plus women herbalists for several centuries. This problem of discounting old remedies may be a carry...
  23. I like lentil/chicken/vegetable soup served with a long handle so its less likely to get CC. You'd have to make sure everyone washed their hands first or you might inadvertently get CC. Bea
  24. This discussion is so right on. I have often thought that there must be something here in the US that makes Docs so uninterested in learning about celiac. Its as if they are brain dead on this particular subject, although there are the good exceptions occasionally. One woman told me its because there is no money in it for them or for the drug companies. She...
  25. Thanks Jenny! That helped me plus showed me I got the basic gist of it right. Bea
