  1. I get them at the local herb and supplement store as well as Whole Foods. However I am certain you can order them online. I get the Nature's Life bromelain & papain. I read they work together synergistically and thus make each other more effective. I get the Now nattokinase. Its cheaper than another variety I was purchasing and seems just as effective...
  2. Am so glad we are helping you. This stuff can be pretty darn scary. If its doing that to your hair and teeth, just think what its doing to your bones! Am hoping you have gone off all gluten meanwhile. Just wanted to add that taking the fibronylitic enzyme combo of bromelain/papain plus nattokinase or serrapeptidase on an empty stomach with the co-enzyme...
  3. Both my teeth have gotten stronger as well as my hair and nails having gone gluten free and adding the more absorbable co-enzyme B vitamins and vitamin D plus digestive and fibronylitic enzymes. I no longer have tooth decay whereas I used to get a filling nearly every year. My gums are now healed too. My formerly thin straight hair now has body and waves...
  4. I agree with the rest. Bring your own food to social events. Somehow bite the bullet and decide if you want to be part of the social thing maybe its worth doing a little baking etc. (or get someone else to do it for you?). Baking really isn't that hard. Be part of the committee that orders the food and maybe bring the (gluten free) cake? There's lots of gluten...
  5. Just wanted to add that when I went to Kaiser and told them I figured out I had celiac given my sympotms and the fact I was so much better off wheat, rye, barley and oats. They said not one word about it. The deal was that I tried but didn't know enough about it from reading the Merck Manual. I was way better but still had all kinds of problems since I wasn...
  6. Glad to be of help! I struggle with the beasties too. They can sneak up on you and give you a high like being drunk. A good clue is a ravenous appetite for guess what--starch and/or lots of fruit or sugar! Its addictive since they actually release alcohol in your blood stream. My ex used to drink bear just to catch up with me on my natural candida (or whatever...
  7. Unfortunately docs with head in the sand these days is all too true. Its so great you got a good doctor Bunnie. This last bit about the world is flat made me laugh!
  8. Maybe some trace glutening from the sausage? Or maybe a yeast/candida overgrowth? I personally can't have rice and beans together--too much starch. It feeds the yeast. Though yeah we all just went through a pretty tough astrological transit I hear.
  9. It does seem we all have this reactive response to some degree or other, some more or less disastrous than others. I was thinking on this again last night and was wondering if the homeopathic Rescue Remedy might help after such an accidental glutening to restore one's balance after such a shock to the system. Any thoughts or experience with this? Maybe...
  10. I think that in time celiac will be more known and accepted in our society. Its just that right now almost no one has heard of it. Given that, its natural people think you are crazy especially since it requires going to such extremes of gluten avoidance. It does looks crazy to the uninformed. They think you are being neurotic. Unfortunately it is the opposite...
  11. Well, not to be negative, I have to add that for me getting inadvertently glutened these days now that I have been avoiding trace glutens some of my short term reactive symptoms are spectacularly worse than in the past. I now get shooting D which I didn't have in the past. I also get the headaches and neck and shoulder pain etc. which I did have. I then...
  12. Hi Ali, Thank you for your concern. I have been a little concerned too especially waking up today and feeling this ache in my low back and generally being out of it again and freaking out that maybe my UTI is going to not go away and take over my kidneys. This is the big Freak Out for me, believe it, given my history and having half of my right kidney...
  13. I've read that sorbitol can be made from gluten. It certainly doesn't agree with me. I doubt its good for sensitive kids. Here here about multiple allergies or sensitivities. Mine go beyond just gluten to include all nuts and peanuts, many seeds (esp. sesame), goat milk and meat, all milk or anything fermented except now for nonfat org. yogurt, vinegar...
  14. That is so great. My mother was on a low carb diet as a child and it really helped her. Unfortunately later on as a young adult away from home she went back on carbs including wheat etc. and I believe its why she had migraines and difficulty concentrating, some low thyroid and joint issues and eventually glaucoma and some dementia. Hard to convince her though...
  15. Thanks Gwen on the encouragement for the book! It seems like its time for me to do it finally after all these years of using herbs and diet. Celiac.com has really helped me put together some of the missing pieces. I just have to be more careful than ever not to get cc'd. And this idea of strengthening the immune system through energetics is interesting. ...
  16. I don't really blame people for not understanding. Hell, it took me years to figure out. However I do think this kind of false concern and lack of understanding could be kind of sucky. I suggest not getting drawn in down a poor me road. Just say how its worth it to you. Offer some general advice but be non committal. If they insist on getting into it...
  17. I have had similar things--my lungs are very sensitive I think too to both stress and celiac. I first got pneumonia after all as an infant after first being introduced to grains. Thus it really could be part of the celiac. I have read somewhere or other that it is one way celiac can manifest. Sometimes it causes areas of sensitivity in the lungs which...
  18. Just wanted to add my bit. I had schizophrenic like visions as a child and young adult caused no doubt by my gluten intolerances plus a need to have B vitamins that my body just couldn't make or absorb very well on its own. After I went off the gluten and started taking B vitamins (due to starting to progressively lose my kidneys--I decided to try my grandmother...
  19. Thanks Gwen! It sounds like good advice. Its interesting your mother went through almost the same thing. Fortunately today I woke up feeling so much better! The antibiotics are kicking in and my continued use of Western herbs for UTI are helping the antibiotics along at last. Its so strange to get a bacterial infection since normally I just don't but here...
  20. Have other people here gotten the flu and then a bladder infection and sensitivity in the kidneys after multiple inadvertent cross contaminations? Or some other serious infection or illness as a result of CC? It seems my body is so very much more reactive now that I have been avoiding all trace glutens that I can since I discovered I needed to in December...
  21. Here here! By the way I was diagnosed as an infant but reintroduced to grains when I was 4. It was downhill all the way. Doctors just didn't get it back then and are only starting to now. I am glad your doc and you figured this out. I had to do it on my own like so many others. Yolo
  22. Well definitely with the kiln you can bring the pan to over 600 degrees. I just have to figure out the safety factors so as to not melt it!
  23. I think what Ken meant was the paleo diet--after the ancient Paleolithic Hunter Gatherers (i.e. who ate a non-grain diet like everyone did before 15,000 years ago). It means mostly vegetables including roots and squash, some meat, nuts and seeds (soaked and sprouted best), some fruit and if you can handle it sometimes some honey. To branch out you can add...
  24. Wow that is great advice! I was thinking of putting mine in my kiln for firing ceramics...but maybe this would be easier. Yolo
  25. I think you just have to check out the ingredients of each item individually. However with cosmetics thats often more difficult. Most I think have gluten of some sort or another. Its best to just throw out your old stuff. I just got some cosmetics advertised here. A little expensive but nice quality. Yolo
