ARCHIVED New Treatment For Celiac In The Works
YoloGx replied to Vanquish's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
That's good to hear. We need more such experiments. I like to use acidophilus, bromelain/papain, and pancreatin in double dose if CC'd. Glutenzyme also seems to help. This combo seemed to greatly reduce CC symptoms for me. I was told by my anthropologist mother that a diet rich in yogurt-like food was de rigeur in Scandinavia where celiac/sprue is very... -
ARCHIVED Do Celiacs Have A Weaker Immune System?
YoloGx replied to ptkds's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My thinking is that this too will pass. Maybe you have been getting CC'd without knowing it? Like I said too, you might need stronger, better B vitamins like the co-enzyme ones, or fermented foods and maybe more vitamin D and liquid trace minerals etc. -
ARCHIVED Could It Be Kidney Problems?
YoloGx replied to LuvMoosic4life's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ouch! Have you informed your doctor? It really could be the antibiotics. If you think its really the kidneys also getting into the act (which they could since they are organs of elimination) consider getting some dandelion root, marshmallow root and uva ursi and start taking them pronto. Hopefully its just an inflammation rather than an infection... -
ARCHIVED Do Celiacs Have A Weaker Immune System?
YoloGx replied to ptkds's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree we usually have a weakened immune systems, mainly because of the ravages of having this for so long in an inhospitable environment plus all those courses of antibiotics etc. etc.!! However its my understanding that once one has really healed for long enough one's immune system gets stronger than the average person. I know for myself that at... -
It sure has for me! So, is no one interested in taking those other more natural remedies I mentioned above? Honestly that is what worked the best for me though I have also taken some Pepto Bismol it wouldn't be (hasn't been) enough by itself. The heavy duty (esp enterically coated if you can find it) acidophilus (which is part of what they are expermenting...

Let me know if these remedies actually helps you. They really have for me. I was getting shooting D really bad from CC plus getting ill after etc. The more people that try these remedies the more certain we can be if they work or not for people who have celiac in general. I hate it when the powers that be say there is nothing we can do but wait it out...

I have found that by taking acidophilus and bromelain/papain with pancreatic enzymes really helps against CC. The sooner the better. For me it has made a huge difference. I take it if I even think it might be a problem. Later, if and once the damage is done, continue with the above and also add extra fibronyltic enzymes such as a double dose of nattokinase...

Words of wisdom--though for me I don't do "bars" since I can't tolerate the yeast from the dried fruit--so instead I just bring my own makings (often a teff/quinoa pancake) and frequently a small thermos. However spring water is a good alternative.

I similarly got glutened from a food handler that gave me a cup of hot herbal tea after she made someone else a sandwich. I got shooting D after! And very ill. There are things you can do though, besides be more careful. I have found that taking pro-biotics right away helps cut down on the aftermath. Also bromelain/papain caps or the fresh fruit. There...

I agree you could have a big problem with beans and rice. Certainly best not to have together in my experience. I usually limit my beans. Depends of course on how healed your gut is. Apart from all that, I found that I was low in B-1 which creates a kind of Beri Beri situation. Including the visions, spaciness, heart palpitations, aches and burning of...

Consider getting some product like Gluten-zyme right away after getting CC'd. It really makes a huge difference for me. Bromelain/papain caps taken immediately also helps. Later taking dandelion or milk thistle helps with the aftermath of residual effects like swelling etc. I find too carrying around pepto bismol tabs helps in cases of true emergency....

ARCHIVED I Really Need Some Advice
YoloGx replied to feelingbetter's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I do hope your energy starts to grow. It took me quite a while too. Just have faith and keep a food etc. journal to help make sense of it all. Taking your pulse helps too. If its rapid sometimes and slow others its often a sign of additional allergies--assuming you haven't just exercised or gotten upset I too have low normal blood pressure and poor circulation... -
ARCHIVED I Really Need Some Advice
YoloGx replied to feelingbetter's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well if it were me I would avoid anything with rhubarb root. It tends to give one D big time. However if you have constipation it might be OK though it can be addicting if taken too often. I also had trouble with complicated formulas given my sensitive system. I found less and gentle is better as long as what I do does the job. Also, as a note, in general... -
ARCHIVED I Really Need Some Advice
YoloGx replied to feelingbetter's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I certainly have. Your symptoms sound like mine a while ago. Taking co-enzyme B vitamins made a huge difference for me. I like the ones from Country Life best since they have no sorbitol. Best taken away from food on an empty stomach like late at night or first thing in the morning. Helped me with my heart and nerves as well as the low blood pressure. It... -
ARCHIVED Return Of The Monster Child
YoloGx replied to Aleshia's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I so relate. When I got sick my parents would stick me in my room by myself--so really there was no reward. I was so often out of it. I even sometimes saw or heard people when they weren't actually there. I told myself stories and basically hypnotized myself so I could get some sleep. If I was afraid of something I "saw" my mother would calm me down by having... -
Hi CRB--the pancreatin I get is from NOW--it doesn't have any soy in it. Its gluten etc. free. The important active ingredient is Pancreatin. Gluten-Zyme is different although there are a few of the same things in it--namely amylase and protease. However I think the extra important ingredients are strong acid protease, glucoamylase and peptidase activity...

ARCHIVED Relationship Between Celiac, gluten-free Diet, And Acne?
YoloGx replied to KTNY's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
As far as the gluten free diet, I have noticed a lot of pre-prepared food has an awful lot of sugar in it that could be exascerbating your acne. Its better to eat a more cave man like diet with fewer grains--especially fewer bleached ground up grains like bleached white rice flour. Thus emphasize root vegetables and squashes instead for carbohydrates and... -
I just found a strategy that helped me. I have reacted very badly to getting CC'd earlier this year and got quite ill from the stress of it not to speak of shooting D etc.. I just got glutened seriously the other night when the restaurant put in soy sauce in a dish when I had asked them not to. It was at a restaraunt that is used to dealing with folks...

ARCHIVED Additional Issues With Celiac Disease
YoloGx replied to lhceliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Tell me about it! I am allergic to nearly all antibiotics except cephalexin, including sulpha drugs. I am very sensitive to drugs in general, always have been. Apparently as it turns out I have had celiac almost my entire life. With me it has always been that a little goes a long ways. I am allergic to aspirin--it gives me bruises. I can't handle most anti... -
ARCHIVED Joint Pain Due To Celiac?
YoloGx replied to TardyTurtle's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes the ravages of gluten intolerance definitely can cause such joint problems. It certainly has for me. I am very sensitive to any gluten at all--even as it turns out in soaps and lotions etc. that have (wheat germ) vitamin E in them! This of course includes cosmetics. I also can't have any grain made anything including alcohol and white (or wine or malted... -
I threw out my Kiss My Face products due to the vitamin E. Was I wrong here? Seems to have helped me in any case to get rid of it. Sad but true since otherwise they are quite nice creams and soaps.
-
I relate with your frustration. I recently got rid of my creams and soaps that have vitamin E in them and once again notice an improvement. I am discovering that the headaches that have plagued me for many years seem to be almost entirely gluten related even though chiropractic and yoga has also helped counteract them. The inflammation seems to be gluten...

Hi Bellaby, All I can say is hang in there. It sounds like you have been very ill and are still really going through it. However as heartbreaking as that is there are things you can do to make life more possible. First off for now I suggest you avoid fresh fruit if its causing you a problem. For some of us our systems get so raw that you have to have...

By the way--wild yam natural progesterone cream (if gluten free) helps make the midlife change less rocky. Seriously! I had the worst time without it. For a short while I also took pregnenalone to counteract the crying jags. I also found taking gluten-free co-enzyme B complex helped quite a lot too. I liked Country Life tabs the best since they have no sorbitol...

Just wanted to add some herbal etc. remedies for inflammation. As I have often said, marshmallow root caps or powder--and/or slippery elm caps or boil it up. I have listed how elsewhere on the board. They both are very soothing and healing of inflammation in the gut. Taking some enzymes with food (bromelain/papain and pancreatin) makes a huge difference...
