ARCHIVED Would You Call This Celiac?
YoloGx replied to delicatefade's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sorry this is celiac pure and simple with leaky gut syndrome as a byproduct--thus the increase in "allergies". You need to not use old cutting boards and wooden bowls etc. as well as iron skillets etc. that absorb and give off gluten in use. You also need to wash your kitchen, pot holders etc. Also vitamins, shampoos and lotions etc. etc. Caramel coloring... -
ARCHIVED I Need Itch Info. Fast!
YoloGx replied to dakota girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi, I didn't see much that was very extensive or that helpful on this subject on the boards so I think its of value to discuss it here now. I have this problem too along with vulvar swelling and itching and flaking. Recently I developed a crack a couple of inches up away from my anus--so its not hemerroids. Not only is it uncomfortable and embarrassing... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Get Sick A Lot Even After Going gluten-free?
YoloGx replied to gfgirl88's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It reminds me of when I had lymes disease and later Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. It also could be some other kind of parasite or microbe or a bacterial infection... You should get it checked out. Unfortunately if its either lymes or spotted fever you need to take massive doses of antibiotics, or go to Europe and get a Pap Imi Machine treatments (which is... -
ARCHIVED Chronic Dehydration - Worse After Glutened.
YoloGx replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't know about the IV fluids. However since it appears you have celiac, it really might help for you to try taking slippery elm and/or marshmallow root to help reduce inflammation in your intestines plus increase fluid absorption as well as act as healing agents for the intestines and be emollient for the rest of your system. You might want to experiment... -
Hi Collette, Thanks for asking. Bromelain is just fine for me despite my sensitivity to pineapple. I take it all the time actually. Its quite helpful as a digestive aid and anti-inflammatory and fibronylitic agent (helps break down scar tissue). I also can have lemon juice on my salads despite not being able to handle sweet citrus fruits. I just...

ARCHIVED Could My Physician Have Been Mistaken?
YoloGx replied to Woolygimp's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I have gotten acne even though I have celiac--and have had celiac since I was an infant. The acne for me comes from eating sugar, of which I am also very sensitive especially since I have to control the fungal/candida overgrowth pretty carefully since I have had too many antibiotics along the way since I wasn't told I had celiac until recently. If I am CC... -
ARCHIVED Another Question From A New Celiac!
YoloGx replied to jewlesD's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Could be the high sugar content, yeast or the white rice or other cereal in the bread is bothering you. You might want to experiment with making your own. -
Thanks Collette! By the way, I still can't tolerate citrus; it messes up my kidneys. And yes I have noticed cooked pineapple is easier on me than fresh--though fresh pineapple does seem to help when I need something to counteract the CC reaction and nothing else is available. However it still adds to my candida/fungal problem. Its all a balancing act...

I certainly have. I love pineapple but it doesn't love me. Its OK I suppose in small doses? With yogurt. Or to counteract CC poisoning. However even there I often get candida overgrowth plus swelling and flaking skin down under afterwards. I think it is partly because it is so very sweet while also being very sour. I have difficulty with oranges and grapefruit...

I have tried the Now Powerdophilus with some success. However I tried a friend of mine's Now Gr-8 and found it works much better. The caps are enterically coated. His doctor recommended it. They are a little more spendy than some types of acidophilus but not that spendy. Enterically coated garlic seems to help too. Garlinase is gluten-free and very effective...

ARCHIVED Tired Of Playing Games - Finally Gone Gluten Free
YoloGx replied to leadmeastray88's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Good luck! Even if you don't clinically have celiac you could be gluten intolerant. So going without for a month is a good plan. I'd keep your doc informed since he seems to care about you. Bea -
Glad to be of help. I have been through the mill too and know all too intimately how it can get. It does get better however as time goes on. The CC reaction becomes less awful over time usually. Still important to avoid it however. Just taking live unsweetened yogurt and fresh pineapple and papaya in a pinch has really helped me when I couldn't get to any...

I hear you. I have had to drop getting back with my ex boyfriend for the same reason. He thinks its all in my head. He drinks whiskey and says he brushes his teeth but doesn't always. I just am getting over being ill from CC due to having kissed him. Its now two days downtime as a result. Basically ruined my 4th of July weekend. Migraine, gum boils, achey...

Sounds like either cross contamination or other issues--likely other things you are sensitive to. Might be worth checking into. Milk, corn are also common allergens. Leaky gut from celiac tends to create more food and chemical sensitivities. If so, it is good to take dandelion root, cleavers, yellow dock to help get rid of the brain fog and tiredness and...

[quote name='GlutenGalAZ' date='Jul 7 2008, cheat? I can say "no I do not cheat now" but if you were to ask me did I cheat in the beginning I would say "yes". Did you cheat in the beginning while you were trying to be gluten free and learning about it etc (I am not meaning by accident but on purpose)??

Pepto Bismol is good in a pinch, I agree. The tabs are good to carry around in your purse just in case. Studies have shown that both pro-biotics (from yogurt etc. or best eneterically coated pills with several strains in them) and bromelain (from pineapple) and papain (from papaya) help considerably. These last two take down the inflammation. The pro-biotics...

Some people do cheat. However most suffer as a result. For me certainly its not worth the ill health that inevitably ensues not to mention D, achey eyes, migraines, body aches, depression, mental confusion etc. For others they get a skin condition like my mother (DH). If you cheat a lot (whether you react in an obvious way or not) it sets you up for getting...

There are some people who are gluten sensitive without having true celiac. You are right it could still cause degenerative disease(s). I think that if you feel better without it and the other grains etc. you seem to not tolerate well, avoid them. After a while you could challenge yourself again. It may be its OK for you to have these grains once in a while...

Hi Ali and all, I have read that there are studies at Stanford that indicate taking pro-biotics is helpful against inflammation for those suffering from celiac after ingesting something glutenous that usually creates an immune reaction. I have also read scientific reference to the fact that bromelain is good against inflammation. Certainly these two items...

I have used Gluten-zyme by country life which I think has similar properties to good effect after being exposed to gluten. It really helped a lot. I took a double dose as well as more bromelain/papain and pancreatic enzymes too. Hitting it right away really made a difference in my response. No D! and really nothing dramatic unlike previously. Just a little...

My ex used something similar--he borrowed it however. It did help. However using food grade bentonite and making a paste with water and a little lemon juice or pure apple juice is as good or better and infinitely cheaper. You use it on your feet and hands first, elsewhere too if you want but the extremities should be done the first few times. 20 minutes...

Am sorry to hear its been so rough Ken! I think sometimes when its been so long it may be harder. My sister Peggy is visiting from Southern California and she too got sick for the first time in 2 years. Sicker than a dog!! I am having her stay with me now rather than upstairs with our aged mother who hasn't completely cleaned up her act. Hope you...

I know what you mean. It really is a big adjustment, not only for us but also for those who know us. Some families are compassionate and really understand but I think most do not. Your idea of having your own party is a good one. I also suggest you bring your own food that could be shared at other gatherings, just make sure you have your own bit that...
