Many, many mothers have been told that. Take very good care of yourself until the time comes for you. I was told I would have difficulty becoming pregnant because of my "tilted" uterus but my three kids (in 3 1/2 years) proved otherwise. I was also very sick and not yet diagnosed with celiac.

ARCHIVED How Clean Did/do You Make Your Kids Keep Their Room?
TrillumHunter replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thanks for all the responses! She is really just a messy, messy person. I guess some folks are born "neat-freaks" and some are born "messy-freaks!" If I left her to her own designs, she would never brush her hair or her teeth. We try to give her positive reinforcements--nice shampoo, her own pretty bag to keep her things in. We did the same with her... -
ARCHIVED Traficet-en Phase Ii Trial In Celiac Disease
TrillumHunter replied to ENF's topic in Publications & Publicity
Someone out there, of course, wants to make a drug so we can all eat gluten again. If it becomes availible, I'm sure may folks will choose to use it. What bugs me about this is they have gotten government grants to fund this research. We have so many illness with no good treatment options and we're spending money on something that already has a cure. ... -

It doesn't help that we're in the middle of major kitchen remodel! I have one kid that would NEVER pick up anything--including dirty dishes. She isn't allowed to have food/drinks in there so there is an issue with her overall. My expectation is that once a week the floor is clear enough to be vacuumed. GRR!!!! -
ARCHIVED Different Levels Of Intolerance?
TrillumHunter replied to Alz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You mentioned cookware and I wanted to tell you to consider having your own of some particular items. I got rid of all the wooden utensils and cutting boards I had as those seem to be really hard to clean. If you have a nice cutting board you could sand it down and seal again. Scratched nonstick and plastic storage ware I got rid of as well. I do... -
ARCHIVED Different Levels Of Intolerance?
TrillumHunter replied to Alz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The problem is that gluten damages whether someone feels it or not. I would say intolerance is a black or white thing but how it presents itself is different for all of us. So, someone may be able to cheat and feel no symptoms while it is silently destroying villi. My friend's husband had no symptoms he could identify but had scalloping on his biopsy.... -
ARCHIVED Scared Of Endoscopy
TrillumHunter replied to leadmeastray88's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Same experience here. The dr asked if I was okay, I gave the thumbs up and then I woke up in recovery. I went to daughter's softball game that night. -
ARCHIVED Anemia And Other Deficiencies
TrillumHunter replied to ShayFL's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This has been an interesting thread for me. I just had an endo/colonoscopy to look for causes of my anemia. My ferritin was down to four two years ago but with 400mg of iron a day I was able to get it up into the 60's I think. But that is still pretty low, right? Now, I'm having stomach issue (new for me) and it's back down into the teens and I FEEL it... -
ARCHIVED Back From Endo/colonoscopy
TrillumHunter posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello all, I just got back and it went easily. They found some irritation in my duodenum on the endo. On the colonoscopy he found ulcers and irritation in my ileum. He mentioned Crohn's. I'm hoping there might be some other possible reasons for them. At least this might be a reason for the anemia. I'm having a barium swallow on Friday. I would... -
ARCHIVED If I Am Gluten Free- Why Would My Ferritin Be Low?
TrillumHunter replied to ItchyMeredith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have this issue as well. I'm getting scoped (both ends ) on Wednesday to look for bleeding. I don't think they will find any but I don't know what else to do. If I take 400mg of iron and eat no dairy, I can get my serum iron up to a low normal. But all that iron is taking a toll on my stomach I think. Two years ago I had a gyno work up and that wasn... -
ARCHIVED Iron Anemia, Having Endo And Colonoscopy
TrillumHunter replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ravenwoodglass you are just AWESOME! People need to hire you to take on appointments and give the drs the what for! The gi I'm seeing is very celiac friendly. He talked about damaged villi at a microscopic level versus visible scalloping and that we may see neither at this point. I am doing an occult kit but I honestly will be shocked if it is positive... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Rice Chex

The boxes I've bought say gluten free on the box in bold print with a red check next to it. It also talks about being gluten free on the back. -
ARCHIVED Iron Anemia, Having Endo And Colonoscopy
TrillumHunter posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm a year into my diagnosis. I never had an endoscopy initially and was diagnosed by bloodwork alone. But, I continue to have serious problems with anemia. The only way I can get my serum iron to low normal is by taking 400mg of iron a day--kind of hard on the tummy! So now they want to scope for bleeding. I don't have any other glaring symptoms of... -
Not everyone plays mandolin but EVERYONE eats! How can you get to adulthood without a basic knowledge about what you put in your mouth everyday? None of these folks ever read the back of the cereal box in the morning? "I would just die!" That one always makes me laugh.....

I'm 39 (and a half lol) You CAN have a low normal H/H and a low serum iron and ferritin. If your levels fall in the low normal range and you have symptoms, you should have your serum levels tested. Low normal just isn't tolerable for everyone. And, if your body becomes stressed in any way, you can easily fall below normal quickly. "Normal" is relative...

Might be a stretch for a young boy....That's the last symptom that showed up before I was diagnosed with severe iron anemia. My serum iron was four. The way you describe it rings a bell for me. It wasn't like a spot was sore, it was the whole tongue. It didn't look red or raw, but it felt swollen. Also, I was having a heard time talking because it really...

ARCHIVED She's Still Saying I Need A Colonoscopy!
TrillumHunter replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Doctors
Maybe it wasn't clear in my post. She never recommended an endoscopy, only a colonoscopy. She never recommended the celiac panel either. I did. This was a six month follow up after positive blood work. I've been gluten free for almost a year now---and it resolved every medical issue I had. Strange as it may sound, I'm thrilled to have celiac because... -
ARCHIVED Are Chronic Headaches A Symptom Of Celiac?
TrillumHunter replied to Shwem's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I got ocular migraines before before going gluten-free. I was very low in b12 and iron as well. These are gone now. My husband went gluten-free with me and is no longer having migraines. He'd had them since he was 12 or so. He was tested for celiac and it was negative but he says he'll never eat gluten again. -
ARCHIVED Should You Thank The Catholic Church?
TrillumHunter replied to Alexolua's topic in Publications & Publicity
You, and others, can continue to say this but it is not true. Once again, Holy Communion can be received fully with only the Precious Blood. There is no need to receive under both species. To tell a child anything but that is an error. Comparing circus peanuts and pretzels to Jesus? But you're not out to offend, right? You're trying to understand... -

I don't know about freezing the batter but if you throw some chopped onion and green pepper in there I bet it would make a mean hushpuppy!

ARCHIVED Should You Thank The Catholic Church?
TrillumHunter replied to Alexolua's topic in Publications & Publicity
I'm sorry you left. The Church has never, nor will it ever, teach that the Eucharist is a symbol. This a fundamental teaching of the Catholic Church. If you were ever lead to believe otherwise, I apologize as a cathecist for the poor teaching. There is far more to the celebrating the Mass than receiving Communion. Although attending Mass weekly... -
ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
TrillumHunter replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Okay, I've tried to keep up to no avail..... Has anyone tried the blotting papers? I had a large box of them already so I didn't order them. Those really help mineral makeup look fresh. Just a little blot and you're good to go! I thought the last give away shadows, the green and copper, would look awful on me. But, with just a little blending, they... -

I've been reading this thread for a bit but haven't posted. I'm going to jump in now! I LOVE this stuff! I used BM for a while, decided it was too expensive, went back to drugstore stuff. Oh man, big mistake! I was so broken out and aggravated when finally.....I can across this thread! Yeah! I love the Weekend getaway blush. So soft and natural... -
ARCHIVED Itchy Ears And White Bumps On Back Of Itchy Throat
TrillumHunter replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I must respectfully disagree with this broad statement. Enlarged glands can be a sign of an autoimmune response. This "harmless" condition should always be put into context with the presenting patient's general health and other concerns. Perhaps if it had been in my case, I wouldn't have suffered unnecessarily for over a decade. Just some food for...
