  1. I was dx'ed with only blood work. Now I'm a little over a month gluten-free and feeling GREAT! I have very few symptoms left and they are mild. I came on here thinking I needed a positive biopsy as well but the great people here helped me understand why I didn't. Go gluten free and never look back!
  2. Yeah, this is the first special product I bought myself. Blech! I thought to myself, okay, so I never get to eat cereal again....Crapapple works for me!
  3. I'm new to this but already lots of changes. Here are the most obvious. 1. Getting up at 5:45 and working out for an hour makes me feel BETTER 2. If I have to correct the kids I correct them without the little voice in my head saying they are bad and I am a bad mom and if I would just get my act together.....bla, bla, bla 3. I can go to the grocery...
  4. I do think women get treated differently---even when we have abnormal blood chemistry and scans! It's always our kids, our jobs, our periods blah blah blah. I think you shouldn't tell a dr anything about your personal life. Don't tell him anything and let him figure out what is wrong with you based on all these "tests" they order. All the drs I saw, male...
  5. No advice--haven't eaten at Bonefish BUT big hugs to you! Take extra care of yourself the next few days!
  6. Did you eat a LUNA bar? There is a blueberry yougurt flavor made with whole grains! It has yellow packaging. Lara bars are small, less than 2 oz, and very dense and chewy. I've eaten every flavor without trouble.
  7. I'm curious about the bread machine with a gluten-free setting. I won't use my bread machine anymore because I'm afraid of cc. The breadman machine is only $90 which isn't too bad. I made corn tortillas before I was diagnosed. You can buy the masa here in all the stores and it is gluten free. There is NOTHING like a fresh made tortilla. A press makes...
  8. Strawberries are in season here! How a strawberry pavlova? It's a meringue crust spread with real whipped cream and piled high with lush, beautiful berries. It's delicious and naturally gluten-free.
  9. It's funny, I was a big baker...but I don't feel like I'm missing anything. Man, that stuff was making me SO sick! I think of eating it and think of how it made me feel and NO WAY>especially since I think I got glutened two days ago. It's like a rerun of the last 13 years for me. I'm not saying I won't ever whip up a batch of gluten-free brownies...
  10. So I'm wondering if any of you who have had this for a while just don't eat bread replacements? I've made some and while they are okay and even good it's alot of trouble. And it seems there is still the issue of cc with mixes. (I think I may have had an issue with a Bob's Red mill mix--not sure) I thinking eating could still be very enjoyable. I can...

    ARCHIVED Duh!

Have a wonderful summer of fun! Looking back it is clear to see what a problem gluten was, isn't it? Such a bugger! But now you know so you can play at will!
  12. Yesterday I woke up feeling awful--achy, stiff and bloated. I was back in the bathroom all am. Kind of just how it used to be everyday. I swear I didn't knowingly ingest gluten. When I said that to my husband this morning he told me, "Yeah, but your face doesn't lie." I am so swollen and puffy! I am wondering about two things. I made some Bob's...
  13. Yea! Hannah! So glad you shared this here. This is my 23rd day gluten free and I am noticing changes already. I went to the gym at 6:15 this morning! And, I enjoyed working out to boot! It is nice to know I wasn't lazy/slovenly/hypochonidriac! May you continue to grow healthier each day!
  14. Yikes! I am sorry you have to deal with that. It's hard to tell if people or clueless or cruel. I think that saying just come watch is pretty harsh as well. A little education seems in order....
  15. I'm new to this as well. This is my 21st day gluten free. This is a enormous adjustment. All our lives we've eaten whatever without thought. Even if it was technically "bad" -like Twinkies-it wouldn't really hurt us. I need some time to grieve, be angry whatever. It is consuming my life and thoughts right now--and that's okay. It will settle into it...
  16. Fun! I've been planning mine for years I want a separate counter with marble inset for baking, especially now. I'll trade my side by side for a french door fridge. Pull out pantry shelves would be very nice. A convection oven with a power gas top--they actually make these. LG solid surface counter top with undercounter sink is a must have. The only...
  17. What a blessing to have her for so long! It sounds as though she made the most of her life. I'll add you to my prayers today that you receive all you need to deal with her passing. My husband's 96 yo grandmother recently passed and I have to say the memorial service was something else. After such a long and busy life many people came to tell their stories...
  18. Here's my limited understanding of it but keep in mind I'n not a doctor I was diagnosed with extremely low b12 around four years ago. It had been longstanding because I'd had significant symptoms for seven years prior. They told me that the nerve pain and unsteadiness might not resolve completely because of demyelination it caused over such a long...
  19. This is totally a vent so read at your own will! I am recently diagnosed after 13 years of symptoms and OODLES of tests. For years they had me thinking I had MS. The last MRI I had four years ago showed lesions. I was terrified! But they said they were in the wrong place for MS and that they were nothing. BUT THEY WERE SOMETHING!! I am so p***ed...
  20. Can you have sesame? If so, try tahini. It's a paste of sesame seeds used in Middle Eastern foods. You can make creamy salad dressing to desserts with it. I can buy it in the regular grocery store in the ethnic aisle. It keeps forever at room temp and is high calorie. If you've ever had hummus it's used in that. Monica
  21. POPPYCOCK! Pernicious anemia was the first thing I presented with at 25. If he has never treated anyone with pernicious anemia and celiac----well, maybe it's time to move on. It doesn't matter if you have the enzymes to covert the b12 or not if your intestines are too damaged to absorb it. I still take the shots but I am hopeful my intestines will heal...
  22. Thanks, you guys. I've thought about it alot today. I think, despite having different problems for 13 years, she would have never have thought of me as having anything serious, genetic or chronic. I was a high functioning celiac. I went to college, had three kids, homeschool, church yadayayada... When I told another friend she was really surprised that...
  23. We dip corn tortilla chips into artichoke dip--yummy! You could serve some salsa fresca to eat with them as well. Congratulations! Monica
  24. I have a good friend who lives across the state. She called me from work because we are going to see her soon. So I told her about the celiac like this-- it's a genetic disorder that causes an intolerance to the gluten in wheat, rye, barley. I told her all the problems I've had with anemia are caused by it and the fatigue and so on. So at the end of our...
