ARCHIVED Out Of Body Sensation
TrillumHunter replied to OptimisticMom42's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had that before gluten-free until I started getting b12 shots. I still get it as a precursor to a migraine. -
ARCHIVED Why Am I So Cold?
TrillumHunter replied to Chell's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Make sure they do a full iron panel--serum iron and ferritin. A H&H isn't enough information for people with celiac. How about your thyroid? -
ARCHIVED Could I Return To Having Wheat After Having A Baby?
TrillumHunter replied to Liveenjoylife's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Have you ever heard of the book Celiac Disease: The Hidden Epidemic by Peter Green, M.D.? It's very informative and might help you to understand why gluten-free is essential for life. Also, unless every single aunt, uncle and cousin has been tested, I'll bet someone else has it. -
ARCHIVED Should I Or Shouldn't I?
TrillumHunter replied to kthies2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, you need to be eating gluten to have an accurate test. If you've been reading then you understand that the test measures the level of antibodies produced in response to consuming gluten. I would consider your results skewed at best if you haven't been consuming gluten. If an official diagnosis is important to you, you've possibly wasted your time... -
ARCHIVED Catholic Receiving Communion
TrillumHunter replied to Coleslawcat's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Not for Catholics. I don't want to debate this with you, and I understand that other denominations approach communion this way. Catholics do not. The gluten-free host has never caused me to react. Also, read up on spiritual communion. Understanding that has helped me tremendously. -
ARCHIVED Need Suggestion For Good Celiac Book
TrillumHunter replied to Diva1's topic in Publications & Publicity
The one by Dr. Peter Green. Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic is the title, I believe. -
ARCHIVED Good News - Thank You For Your Help
TrillumHunter replied to Benshell's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That is wonderful news for your family! You are a great mom for protecting her health and her future. -
ARCHIVED Chocolate Sugar Cookies
TrillumHunter replied to purple's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
How about a sandwich cookie with mint filling in the middle? I WILL be making these! -
ARCHIVED Date Nut Crunch Cookies
TrillumHunter replied to purple's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
They will work with those. My MIL has done that in the past when I ran short on Rice Krispies. I don't know if others have cooked with dates before, but they really break up in the mixture. You have to keep the mixture moving or it will scorch very easily. She has done just coconut or just nuts, too. She'll be tickled when I tell her this old... -
ARCHIVED Date Nut Crunch Cookies
TrillumHunter replied to purple's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My MIL has made these for years. They are really delicious and improve with age. Be sure and let the date mixture come to a full boil and cook for a few minutes. If you don't, they don't set up well. They are my DH's favorites. -
ARCHIVED Pet Peeve Regarding The Slaying Of The English Language.
TrillumHunter replied to Imanistj's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Um, whew. You called it right. I do have my knickers in a knot today and it has NOTHING to do with the word yummy. I'll lighten up now, thank you. Don't get me started on RR. I wish I could post the video I made with my son playing Rachel and me playing Martha. Funny stuff. Have a great day! -
ARCHIVED Pet Peeve Regarding The Slaying Of The English Language.
TrillumHunter replied to Imanistj's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Was that your original intent for posting this? That word will never go away on this board or anywhere else. If you don't overcome your aversion to it, you'll never be able to read a recipe, food or restaurant review on this board. People say it. It's a word. Good luck. I had no idea this was so serious for you. I thought it was just a fun... -
ARCHIVED Will I Hurt My Baby If I Cheat?
TrillumHunter replied to darkhorse's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This will be the first of many sacrifices you'll make for your child. I believe cravings have a root cause. Are you short on calcium or fat on your diet? Look for a substitute that can fill those. Absolutely agree with tarnalberry about the gluten-free/intolerant theory. And, I know you've thought about this, what if you did cheat and the unthinkable... -
ARCHIVED 5yo Daughter Getting Egd In The Am.
TrillumHunter replied to Brooklyn528's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I agree with Fiddle Faddle. And, two biopsies is just pathetic. -
ARCHIVED Wheat, Tennessee
TrillumHunter replied to AndrewNYC's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
The Wheat I know hasn't existed since 1942 when the government took it to build the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the plants associated with it. Wheat is part of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. There are three things in what used to be Wheat: the now-defunct K-25, an overlook of the plant, and an African burial ground. The African Burial ground is interesting... -
ARCHIVED Wheat, Tennessee
TrillumHunter replied to AndrewNYC's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
You could eat at the Atomic Cafe. They have nuclear chicken wings..... -
ARCHIVED Need Family Foods To Go!
TrillumHunter replied to Frances03's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Unless Ezekiel bread says GLUTEN FREE on it, it isn't! Be careful! If your talking about the bread I'm thinking of, it most surely isn't gluten-free. How about a thermos? With a widemouth, you could take anything you wanted. Not just soups, but bits of roast and potatoes or maybe taco meat with cheese that you could eat with chips. I like to eat... -
Every Saturday? So what's going on on Friday night? Are you having drinks or staying out late? Don't worry, I'm not going to tell your folks! These things could make you a bit unwell on Saturday. Your heart rate could be so many things. Simple things like Red Bull, smoking, and stress of this new situation could be at fault. Could you be pregnant...

ARCHIVED Why Is This Such A Popular Condition For People To Self Diagnose With?
TrillumHunter replied to silvertail's topic in Publications & Publicity
Just to add-you can't tell who's real and who's just trying out the latest thing they heard on Ellen by looking. We come in both sexes and every height/weight/skin color known. There is no typical celiac. We don't necessarily look sick. We'd like to stay that way, and the way to do that is to ask you about the meal we are trusting you to bring. If someone... -
Take a deep breath. How do you know you have a fever once a week? Are you taking your temperature every day? What are you calling a fever? 98.6 is a baseline. Some people are hotter or colder normally. It's also normal for your temperature to vary through the day. Are you sick EVERY day or does it just seem that way? If you are...

ARCHIVED Why Is This Such A Popular Condition For People To Self Diagnose With?
TrillumHunter replied to silvertail's topic in Publications & Publicity
I've been sick since my early twenties. First, it was because of college. I graduated. Next, it was because of my stressful job. I quit. Then, it was because I had kids. I put them out for adoption---just kidding! Times passes. I'm still sick with more of my body systems failing me. Finally, in my late thirties, they decided that... -
ARCHIVED 5yo Daughter Getting Egd In The Am.
TrillumHunter replied to Brooklyn528's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
No experience with kids, but I'm bumping this up for you. I'm sure things will go smoothly. Kids bounce back much quicker that adults. You're doing a great job for your daughter! -
ARCHIVED Cookie Exchange Parties
TrillumHunter replied to Shess0816's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
At the one I attend each year, we don't eat the cookies. People bring appetizers and desserts to share. I would think a savory dish would be very welcome! Even something as simple as a vegetable tray with dip would be good. I don't bring any cookies because I don't take any! I go to enjoy the company of the women from my parish and catch up. There... -
ARCHIVED Healthy Bread In Five Minutes A Day
TrillumHunter replied to halfrunner's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
How many gluten-free recipes are in the chapter? I looked on Amazon and it doesn't give much of a break down. Thanks for this. It's always good to hear a review! -
ARCHIVED Invisible Fencing For Dogs
TrillumHunter replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
We ordered the wireless fencing today. I didn't even know that existed until a couple of days ago. There isn't any installing to it. I'm excited to train her with it. I think she'll get it pretty quickly. She stays close by, even off the leash. I do think she'll be an inside pup. She hates the cold and does her business QUICK!
