  1. Try making some broth from chicken or beef or just have the liquid from homemade soup. I had to fast once for almost 72 hours and I just had jello and water. I didn't really mind it actually, after awhile I didn't really feel hungrey anymore. I did feel like a lost a lot of weight, but I recuperated.
  2. That's a really good point. Anyone could read what we say here if they wanted and most of us have pictures so it's easy to tell who it is!
  3. I've never noticed a problem with the blueberry waffles.
  4. Some wines contain casein, the milk protein. I have reacted to red wine before because of casein.
  5. Just an update... I got an appoitment with the allergist Yay! My appoitment is September 23! That was quick... and I'm hoping to find out for sure what caused that reaction.
  6. Sorry that you kept getting sick Thanks for the reminder. Sometimes it is very easy to assume something is safe and not look at the ingredients. I do this all the time and I have to start being more careful.
  7. Basmati rice and orange juice are good.
  8. Scottish, Irish, English, and Norwegian.
  9. I haven't personally noticed a problem with mushrooms. I'm interested to know why they would say that though.
  10. I'm not sure about that. I do know that people with celiac disease who are not eating gluten free or who just started a gluten-free diet are more prone to lactose intolerance. I also think that people with celiac disease are more prone to casein intolerance as well.
  11. Those cookies look good! I have a few recipes that I made up: Quick and Easy Stove Top Meatloaf Extra lean hamburger 1/2 - 1 cup Heniz ketchup 1 onion, diced 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced pepper 1 egg Mix everything together in a wok, deep frying pan, or a large pot except ketchup. Add ketchup later on to allow moisture. Cook until done. Yummy...
  12. I was ok today Yea! I am more tired than usual and sore for some reason, but other than that I am fine. Hopefully tomorrow will be the same or better. I guess everyone reacts differently to prednisone. Some people I guess react badly to the drug, I'm assuming after long time use though. I really do have to find out for sure what caused the reaction...
  13. Oh no... I have none left and I have to work tommorrow at like 7:00 am! Maybe I'll call a pharmasist or a doctor and see what they say if I notice any problems tommorrow.
  14. I just got this e-mail from the company: Hello Carrie, The Tropical Source Chocolate Bars and baking chips are 100% gluten free and 100% dairy/casein free with no cross contamination issues. I believe this information is on the package.
  15. Thanks everyone for your input and telling me your experiences. Everything is all helping me through this right now. Going through something like that is very scary. I'm reasuured to know that food allergies can get worse overtime. I thought so, but I'm glad to hear that from others. I am assuming that a regular doctor can give a prescription for an epipen...
  16. The longer your son is gluten-free the more likely he will get a false negative result on a celiac disease test. If you want him tested for celiac disease, I would ask for tests ASAP. Also, if you are suspecting allergies, maybe ask for an allergy test? About the food in the house issue, I don't know what I'd do because I don't have kids. I would probably...
  17. I had Alexia fries once and didn't notice any problems. I see Alexia fries in health food stores. I have also had McCains fries once and didn't notice any problems either. Here are some statements on their website: "I see that you have a clear allergen statement on your products. I have Celiac Disease and have seen some of your products read ...
  18. I used to buy Cavendish fries at Sobey's on PEI. In Alberta, I have been looking for them and I think that the only place I saw them was Cosco. I have found Valleyfield at Zellers here in Alberta.
  19. Just a few questions for anyone that can help. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am nervous and I want to be well for my wedding on August 19th! I am still not sure what caused my allergic reaction(s?) (I'm not sure if I had one major one or several small ones), but I was just wondering if anyone knew if an allergic reaction to a food can intensify...
  20. Cavendish plain straight cut, shoestring, country, and crinkle cuts are gluten-free. I have never noticed a problem with them. I have also had Valleyfield (sp?) and I haven't noticed any problems with their fries either.
