  1. I almost wonder if some of their stuff is contaminated... If no one knows for sure, I think I may contact the company and ask, since some of us are getring sick from it. I would sure like to know! But in the meantime, I am avoiding all of their products. Has anyone else had problems with Bob's Red Mill?
  2. My worst gluten reaction ever (over two weeks and the worst stomach pain) was after eating a bagged salad with Bob's Red Mill flaxseed. It was the first time that I had the flaxseed. I have been terrified of both products ever since... I think that it is interesting that you had a reaction after eating a Bob's Red Mill product too, which makes me wonder if...
  3. Sometimes buckwheat flour is mixed in with wheat flour, which may have been the cause of your reaction. 100% buckwheat flour is gluten-free.
  4. I use Centrum and Jamieson gluten free vitamins.
  5. I've been told that not a lot is known about some of these other flours and to use them with caution. I eat buckwheat with no problems.
  6. olive oil (1-2 tablespoons) veggies: 1 red + green pepper, 2 green onions, 1/2 yellow onion, cut up small 5 mushrooms cut up small eggs - as many as you want lighty beaton with a fork spices to taste I just throw the veggies and mushrooms into a wok (a large frying pan would do) for like 5 minutes and then throw in the eggs and cook until the eggs...
  7. There definitely seems to be something going on... I would request a biopsy, if it hasn't already been done.
  8. Do you have roommates? or share a kitchen with others?
  9. When I got my worst gluten reaction, I got bad stomach pain almost everytime I ate for a few days. The thing with celiac is that everyones gluten reaction seems to be different. That's a good sign that the symptoms are slowly getting better. This shows that the diet is working You should notice more improvement with time.
  10. A lot of celiacs are temporarily lactose intolerant until their villi heal. Gluten damages the villi and the enzyme that breaks down lactose is located at the tips of the villi, so when lactose is injested it cannot be fully digested. Other celiacs can develop a permanant lactose intolerance or a casein intolerance (milk protein). I personally avoid both...
  11. That may have not been enough wheat to result in a positive blood test; therefore, the test result may have been a false negative. If you feel a lot better on the diet, then I think that your doctors are right, you could have celiac. If you don't, then you would most likely have an intolerance or a sensitivity to wheat/gluten based on the positive dietary...
  12. I would request the tissue transglutaminase (tTG) to be done. I'm assuming from the above statement, that it was not done. This test is highly specific for celiac disease and should most definatly be used to test for celiac. If your doctor and lab won't do it, then maybe find someone who will?
  13. I believe that you can have acid reflux and celiac disease. I'm guessing that your new doctor may have taken you off the medication because it has gluten in it. Were you given the medication right after you first started the gluten-free diet? If so, then you may have been still getting sick before the medication because your intestines were not healed...
  14. Like Kaiti said, they will clearly indicate gluten on their ingredient list. I eat Old El Paso taco seasoning, corn taco's and salsa without any problems. Just make sure you always read the ingredient list, as products can change.
  15. Many years of undiagnosed celiac disease can result in severe intestinal damage to the villi (villi line the intestinall wall). Were your villi flat or partially flat? Did you have blood tests done?
  16. I would definatley request the tissue transglutamase test (tTg) and make sure that you are eating a lot of gluten before the test.
  17. I am so sorry you are going through this... you are not alone though and many of us on this board have experienced what you are going through. Please don't feel alone in this and many people here on this board including myself would love to help you out. The fact that you had a positive tissue transgluamase test, means that you would most likely have...
  18. I've become more sensitive and understanding of other's health problems; I've become more interested and aware of foods that provide health benefits; I eat healthier; I've met some really nice people on this board! I feel better
  19. There are a lot of foods that make me feel better Kinnickinick bread toasted with peanut butter plain rice with soy sauce baked french fries mountain dew banana's soup
  20. The decision is ultimatley up to him, but you can present him with all the facts and send him to this site for help and let him make up his mind. Here are some links: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link scroll down Open Original Shared Link If he decides to go on the diet, he will need lots of help. The diet is hard and challenging...
  21. Welcome to the board! It definately sounds like you could have celiac disease or a wheat/gluten intolerance or sensitivity. You have had a positive dietary response, which means that your body cannot tolerate it. Pregnacy is a trigger for celiac disease, which makes me think that you might be celiac. I'm not sure about this, I have also read that...
  22. Amanda, good luck with the new diet. I don't know if someone's mentioned this yet, but make sure that you have your own toaster/deep fryer, peanut butter, butter, jam, ect. If you're living with people who eat gluten be careful! Double check everything before it touches your food (plates, utensils, cutting boards, ect), and make sure the microwave is clean...
  23. If the diet is making her feel better, than that in itself can be a positive test for gluten intolerance. I would assume that she would have a gluten intolerance based on that alone and the enterolab tests should back that up. I think that you are doing the right thing. If the diet makes her better, than stick with it!
  24. False positives can occur - a gluten free diet can cause a false positive, and individuals deficient in IGA antibodies and cause a false positive.
  25. oh that's sounds soooo good mmmmmm
