  1. Thank you for the info. Every time I try to call them, it's too late as most companies are on the east coast and I'm in CA. I'll try harder. Kassandra
  2. Does anyone know if Kettle Chips Krinkle Cut are gluten free. Also Pillsbury "funfetti" Icing. Is that gluten free? Kassandra Thanks!
  3. LOL! I love warnings like that! Kassandra
  4. I too also use almond butter instead of peanut butter. PB hurts my stomach. All peanuts actually. Kassandra
  5. I'm so glad this thread was started. I can't seem to believe I will ever return back to "normal." It feels like I will never have the proper energy or stamina. I am only 17, so I can't keep up with the other kids my age and its so annoying! It is good to hear others share their stories. Kassandra
  6. Are you really thirsty? Have you lost weight since the frequent urination? Also, have you changed any medications? Kassandra
  7. I can understand the friends part of this. I am in high school and people aren't very supportive. It is difficult, but most of my friends have started to slowly come around. They at first thought all the food I was eating was gross, but it just wasn't bolgna on wonderbread! SO WHAT!!! Hang in there, and definitely get into a support group. It is very helpful...
  8. I am Gluten-free Casein-free also. It is really hard when you're away from home. For breakfast I don't really eat a lot of "breakfast" foods because eggs bother my tummy. If I'm in a rush, Gorilla Munch cereal is good or sometimes Van's Waffles. FOr lunch I eat leftovers from dinner the night before. It's an adjustment, but it's not THAT bad. My mom has been...
  9. I can second that! They are terrible about celiac. I am glad you are doing better though. ' Kassandra
  10. I can totally understand what you're going through! I agree with the idea of talking to a therapist. I do and it has been a lifesaver. Just make sure you have someone who knows that Celiac isn't all in your head. I had one and she thought all these symptoms were "stress related." I now have a new one who actually specializes with people who have health problems...
  11. I know! We had chicken and tortellini for dinner! Kill me now! Toretllini pushed me over the edge! UGH! Kassandra
  12. I can totally relate! It is so annoying and RUDE when people criticize this diet and what we eat. Most of the time the food is healthier than glutenous food. Hang in there! Kassandra
  13. Yes, I miss out on a lot! And right now I don't know exactly what is in anything! We are having bbq'd chicken with all kinds of sauces on it. They all say the famous "Natural Flavorings" Grrrrrr! I don't want to get sick, but I'm so sick of not being able to eat anything either! Kassandra
  14. I made some gluten-free cupcakes but like last night they all went out to a restaurant that is our tradition when we're up here. I was not able to eat anything because I always get sick even if I tell the manager, waiter, etc. So I sat there and watched everyone eat hamburgers and cheesecake (snickers). It's just so annoying! I don't mind being Gluten-free...
  15. Thanks for the support. I'm fine when I'm at home, it's when I leave my Gluten-free Casein-free bubble! And they all think that froot loops are healthy...so I'm really batting 1000 with these people! Kassandra
  16. I think to get the closure of the mom thing, he may want to write a letter telling her EVERYTHING. Mean, nice, whatever he needs to get it out. I was in therapy and that's what the therapist had me do for my dad and it was amazing. It was such a great release. I thought this may help. Kassandra
  17. To make a long story short, I am out of town in a house with 17 other people. I brought my own food, and we also went to the health food store for food last night. After dinner, everyone had cheesecake and of course I couldn't have any. I used to LOVE cheesecake! Then there wasn't anything dessert-wise for me to eat. Then a few nights ago we went to a pizza...
  18. The only thing that is strange is that you don't have the genes. From my understanding, you have to have the genes in order to rule it in. If you don't have the genes, you can rule it out. You may have a gluten intolerance, but not Celiac disease. Kassandra Again, all my opinion!
  19. I just wanted to say my gyno called me to tell me that thirst is a normal side effect of Yaz. She said she called the company and it should subside within a month or two and it has. Kassandra
  20. Almost 3 weeks to the day. It was a practice in patience. Kassandra
  21. That is really funny you posted this topic. I am out of town and we had a BBQ and I swear I got sick from the CC on the grill. The reason I know is because everything else was gluten-free! I think it is the same concept as a toaster. Kassandra
  22. I think if they're willing to get tested, it's a good idea. They may be asymptomatic. I am trying to get family member's tested, and they aren't really open to it, even the one's with terrible GI symptoms. But, I can only make suggestions. So, if they're willing, I would suggest it. Kassandra
  23. I made the ghiradelli ones and they were really runny. They were good when baked, but they were really thin and they all ran together. They looked like chocolate lacey cookies! Lol. They were good though! Kassandra
  24. The way my doctor explained it to me was that Celiac causes other problems that go away with gluten free diet. For example I was really anemic and after many attempts to get rid of it, the only thing that actually worked was going gluten free. If I had a gluten intolerance, he said I wouldn't have had such severe anemia that went away with gluten free. ...
  25. Its amazing how similar our stories are. I would try to get another Dr. also but if you can't do that for some reason I would bring a pamphlet on celiac disease from celiac.org I totally understand wanting to get tested and I would recomend doing that because its nice to know for sure. I hope this helps. Kassandra
