  1. Kathryn sounds like you may be through the worst of it and hopefully will now steadily improve. Hope the travel goes okay. I think you could cook some carrots and meat and without liquid take them on the plane. Baked apples if not mushy should work. Sherry
  2. Dawn I also just read a patient on lyme net explain that borrelia (lyme) causes his multiple food sensitivities. When the lyme flares, he's allergic to everything. When it is in remission he can eat almost anything. Sherry
  3. Kathryn, The book recommends 1 year after the resolution of symptoms. Then a gradual trial of starches to see if you tolerate them. Hopefully you will. Sherry
  4. Dawn, sorry for the misery and hoped you'd have some relief. There are a couple of things that you could consider. One is that this general allergy response may not clear up until the leaky gut resolves more--just may take awhile. Two, you could try posting over on the OMG thread to Rachel--24. She has found out she has genetic defects in the methylation...
  5. Maybe you have already gone gluten-free again, but if you have been eating gluten regularly for months, why not redo the celiac panel? It might be positive and you'll have further support for continuing on a diet.
  6. Chocolate is not legal on SCD but the why is one of those more nebulous areas. So glad you made through to day 5-6 and are noticing a lot of improvement. Way to go! Remember to try as much as possible to add one thing at a time so you know what is causing you problems. Hope you can figure out the travel thing. Sherry
  7. Ali, Oh well. At least we should be able to find it if we are looking for it, and if we are adding regularly it will be visible on the daily posts list. Sherry
  8. Hi Brenda, Thanks for posting, it is great you are doing so well. I think lots of raw is good once there is some good healing. I don't think raw fruits/veggies and fiber are the whole answer to constipation, until your intestine is working more normally again. When my intestine "shuts down" the fiber and raw causes a lot of bloating and discomfort. ...
  9. Thanks everyone for the BD wishes, I am reading them the morning after, LOL! My day didn't go as expected but there were a couple of nice things. My plans to go out were nixed due to water leakage in the apartment (I had to wait for a repairman all day) and my friend (whose llittle son has the same birthday and we were planning to have dessert together...
  10. Donna so sorry to hear this. The pancreas inflammation is not a good thing at all. Please take care and do call him if there is any further trouble. My good friend recently had a sudden attack, enzymes went up sky high. He was traveling, ended up in the hospital for a week in Florida. They never did find the cause. He's had to make long term dietary...
  11. Kathryn, (if my memory is correct, LOL) Hang in there, I think you should turn a corner at about Day 5. With food intolerances, you can go through a period of symptoms as well. I love the cooked fruit added to my chicken/carrot soup (which I puree). Meanwhile some detox things might help. Lots of water for sure. Magnesium might help with...
  12. Ali, I hope it does. I can understand wanting it in the recipe section, but somehow it would be great if the SCD related threads could be together.
  13. I think it is totally worth it to see if the gluten-free diet makes a difference for you. Whether it is the celiac disease itself or deficiencies due to malabsorption, or additional autoimmune disease like arthritis. If it doesn't clear there may be another issue. For me, the joint pain is caused by lyme disease/infection and associated conditions.
  14. What I would do is crumble the ground beef, brown with the seasonings until just changes color and drain if needed. Then add the carrots, chopped up pretty fine. Stir fry a couple of minutes. Then add a little water and cover, adding more if needed until the carrots are done enough. Check the seasoning. I have had the same thing. I think...
  15. Yes, I am with you. I miss that too. I realize though as I moniter my response to the diet that my healing process is slow and that I am better off staying on the easy to digest foods for awhile longer. I have had some nuts now a bit more. I seem to handle almonds much better than cashews which goes along with what BTVC says. Sherry
  16. Good idea Ali. I have been wondering about whether we should split to more than one thread because as it gets longer it is daunting for new folk to read. Some ideas on appropriate threads we could start? I wondered about a thread topic on advice for making scd yogurt.
  17. Ditto for me on both!
  18. I wouldn't go off the magnesium or find another form you can handle. You really need to have regular BMs in order to detox properly.
  19. Carrots absorb meat flavor very well. Cook your hamburger and carrots together, with some ginger and other spices. Our latest wonderful combo is beef and carrots cooked together with some salt, ginger, and anise, and onion when you get that far along. Zucchini is also wonderful cooked with meat. I stir fry mine in a little olive oil. Zucchini stir...
  20. I am in total agreement here. You just have to hang in there at first. I also did quite a lot of honey at first when I had cravings, just a tad here and there. I didn't limit myself too much the first few days and then was able to easily cut back when I had more foods to eat. With the allergies you could be experiencing "retracing" and it could be that...
  21. Be sure you are taking supports for detoxing...
  22. Some are doing coconut milk yogurt. I do very well on goat milk yogurt. Muffins made without eggs. I just love cooked fruit with spices added and honey to taste. Try cinnamon, whole anise, or whatever. Also I love the carrot/chicken soup as I "doctor" it up. Sherry
  23. Dawn, I am not sure what the cause of the mucous problem is, but I recall a doctor once telling me that the membranes can get very hypersensitive (which is what asthma is, irritation in the membranes.) If it is food intolerance, as soon as you notice the symptoms after eating, take a 1/4 tsp or more of soda in some water. See if that helps. It is what...
  24. Yes, the convenience and difficulty eating out when traveling. Yes, I agree about the guidelines. I use pecanbread as a guide but not rigidly, just to try to use foods that other people have found easier to digest. But still have to do my own based on what I react to and what I tolerate. Sherry
  25. Christine sorry to hear this. Any ideas of what is contributing to the racing heart? Just wondering about mineral imbalance, lyme, or other possibilities. Hope others will post as well. Donna!! Yay!!! so glad to "see" you and that the recovery is going well. Also I hope this is the last of surgeries for you for awhile and that you can concentrate...
