  1. I was fine on doxy for awhile, and then very suddenly started getting sunburn--and oh my, it was bad. It took me by surprise. I agree taking it on a full stomach, even so, I just had nagging nausea on it. I was able to cope with small snacks and just enduring. The powerful regimen is good because it takes the lyme by surprise and it doesn't have a...
  2. Not here in China, maybe next spring in the USA. I am hoping that digestive healing will make a difference. It seems to be going pretty slowly. Its hard to be hopeful after 8 years on antibiotics.
  3. Kassandra, the only thing I can think of is that maybe you had inflammation do to the GB problems. The other thing is maybe not digesting fat well? Did they give you extra enzymes and stuff to help with that? Or maybe a bile type supplement? Still, am glad you are feeling better. Maybe the weight will start to turn around soon.
  4. Tommy, sounds like a good treatment beginning. Doxy gave me a lot of nausea, and eventually sun sensitivity but it is a good abx for lyme. Hope you do well. Ceftin worked very well for me. Flagyl is rough but is very good for getting at the cyst form. Do you take flagyl every day? I hope you can get a break. My DH and I used to joke that I was "flagyl...
  5. My family and friends that have tried the cashew cheese have liked it. I've made pizza with it. Roasted cashews taste more like cheese to me. Mia, with lyme disease you can have the improvement on antibiotics. CarlaB had major digestive issues and was gluten free until one course of antibiotics that was for bartonella (lyme co-infection). It totally...
  6. Rachel, this is WAY cool! It will be great to hear the new plan from Dr. P! Paula, I hope you can figure out what to do very soon.
  7. Tommy, we'll look forward to your update. You and I are in the the same boat, both celiac and lyme. My lyme was diagnosed 7 years before the celiac though. Sleeping issues are very common with lyme as are the joint symptoms. People have tons of symptoms--after you start treatment you'll know more about what is related. After you get started on your regimen...
  8. Too bad about that mold, Paula! I'll bet your son will naturally detox with that mattress gone (I hope it is gone, LOL)! Maybe binders would help? Chlorella seems ok for kids, Andrea's kids have taken that I know.
  9. Valda, I use to make cashew cheese all the time and we made it with raw cashews, then I tried it with roasted ones and it has such more flavor! I can't put the yeast in either, I didn't test well for it. Shay, that's an interesting site. My MD told me we could culture these ourselves with our yogurt starter. I haven't tried it with veggies though...
  10. BTW, I also saw an email by Elaine on a website that said that roasting cashews yourself is just fine; I think the book says you have to use them only raw. I love them after they have been dry roasted in the oven. I found some raw almonds in Thailand in an organic store, hopefully they will be fine. I am pretty sure that what threw me off was the cinnamon...
  11. Well, even if you have to keep on, it sounds like all of your investment in healing is paying off. Sure hope your iron numbers are not further dropped and that you are absorbing some of the oral iron now. Will look forward to your next update, which your social life allows, LOL!
  12. Thanks everyone for posting about strictness--AND your improvements! Seems like we are all getting better which is good news!
  13. Art girl, You might look into whether duck eggs are available in your area. You may not have any sensitivity to them (lack of exposure in the past), and they might be fine in baking. They taste a bit different in an egg dish though.
  14. Hi Kassandra! What wonderful news!!!! I'm thrilled with your progress and you've taught us all a good lesson again about making sure we deal with our emotional stuff. Are you still doing IV treatments? Sherry
  15. Hi Tommy, Yes large doses of ABX plus herbs to support the body and enhance treatment. Hopefully you'll be screened for other things, such as metal toxicity. Are you celiac as well? A low carb diet is good too, lyme feeds on the carbs. Be prepared for what we all call a "herx" from the term herxheimer. The spirochete borrelia gives off toxins...
  16. Hi ArtGirl, welcome! Be sure to check out www.pecanbread.com for an SCD source that has a lot of info about a dairy free SCD approach. If you click on the yogurt tab it talks about making yogurt with non dairy milks. Most canned coconut milk has guar gum in it and that isn't allowed on SCD. You could try it before starting the diet though. Some people...
  17. Could be. I was having my worst symptoms in the fall and thought it was weeds but my allergist said it was most likely to be mold. I wonder if it is possible that you are less mold toxic so now your allergy is showing up more??
  18. I found this on a page giving answers from Elaine G about canned fruits and veggies.
  19. The big C is my main symptom. Be sure she is getting some magnesium, the intestine cannot contract without it. Vitamin C and magnesium have helped me. You might read the posts on www.pecanbread.com. The SCD has a constipation protocol. I wonder if it might be worth a trial on the SCD and follow the constipation protocol to see if this helps. It could...

ARCHIVED Need Dr In Portland Or Area

Good to know if I need a GI. I got in this summer to see Dr. Glenn as a new patient, and so did my daughter. We both like her. She didn't have much to add to my care. She knows the doctor I am seeing for lyme disease and thinks he is wonderful--he is why she became a doctor, she said. So she didn't think she had much to add. I had a colonoscopy...
  21. Just be aware that a gluten or wheat allergy and celiac are totally different but similar treatment--avoidance.
  22. Could be an allergy, but could also be celiac. Hope you find the answers you need. You may improve on gluten-free, but might also need an elimination diet to determine the cause.
  23. Are all of you pretty much following the full version of the diet? I'm wondering about the bloating and whether it means I need to stay back on the early portion of the diet.
  24. I'm traveling so have just skimmed along here. I agree, it sounds very like lyme. I wonder if there is a support group in your area that might help you. Also as young as you are and so debilitated, I wonder if there might be some source of help through a research source. You have you story written out here. Hopefully someone will be able to offer more...
  25. Cici are you also positive for celiac disease? I have both celiac and lyme. The SCD is helping a lot. With lyme, low carb is best.
