  1. Paula, what a nice thing the school did for you!
  2. Nora the SCIO sounds interesting. Let us know how it goes.
  3. Yes I am sure it is a factor. However, it is far worse in the winter when coal is used to generate heat. Our city is much better though. Sherry
  4. I'll be thinking of you when I go to the night market this evening! We arrived finally this morning after being in transit more than a day. I met with the chef this afternoon at the hotel and he was totally nice, and very aware of gluten issues, apparently is gluten sensitive himself. He went over all the things I could have or not have, asked questions...
  5. Sure worth a try, and hope it helps!
  6. My thought on the canned food would be to call to confirm that no sugar or corn syrup is added anywhere in the food processing, even to correct pH. I'd check to make sure all the food processing is done by the company you call rather than only part of it. I think but not sure I remember it, that the diet soda restriction has to do with aspartame being...
  7. Paula, too bad it doesn't check for food residues, especially sugars. That would be better than digestive enzymes to see if you are digesting fats, proteins and carbs. Mslee, good news that you are finding some answers. If you do SCD initially dairy free, you might be able to tolerate small amounts of the goat milk yogurt, a lot of people can. You could...
  8. Yes, and ask if celiac is pre-existing, how that impacts coverage for other things? Like blood tests for malabsorption or checking levels of nutrients. Ask if this diagnosis will exclude any other autoimmune condition? Once you are diagnosed celiac, the current treatment is diet. Sometimes a follow up blood test and or biopsy is done after going gluten...
  9. I guess that is what I am trying to get a sense of, what would be the expense involved in the whole picture. I'm afraid it is out of range for me.
  10. Along the lines of a little starch in the meds....I am still taking all of my supplements and stuff which my doctor agrees that I need. Many of them have ingredients we are not supposed to have on SCD. But I have still had a dramatic response to the diet. Everyone, I think I have identified the diet problem, at least today I am finally having a better...
  11. Carla, interesting about the mold. My major downhill occurred after I started living in a moldy climate. I started treating lyme after I moved from there, so its hard to compare. Donna, yeah, that's why I couldn't treat mold all those years. Probably I detoxed enough after leaving the moldy climate to tolerate the shots. I am using AG styling...
  12. Yep, lots of weird things. You must be on the right track! LOL.
  13. Pretty hard to make sense out of a lot of our symptoms sometimes. You've had this before though, right? Sherry
  14. Could be a detox period for you. Since it is just a little over a week, I think I'd give it longer and see what happens. I have experienced a lot of shifts after going gluten-free. Magnesium might help.
  15. Healing for adults takes 1-2 years, so though I know it is really hard--patience is needed. I went through lots of different phases of symptoms. I'd give it another couple of months and if you are still making progress, great. Be sure you are very diligent about gluten-free, and check all your kitchen items and personal care items as is commonly mentioned...
  16. Thanks for the encouragement Pele, I am in a place where I need that. I have tried so many things over the years that helped for awhile and then problems came back so it is easy to get discouraged again. In terms of the almonds, it could be flour or starch. What I am told though is that they soak the almonds in water, salt and flavorings and then dehydrate...
  17. Rachel I agree with you, Paula I think diet could be why you have such dramatic ups and downs. Carla, I keep hoping the stomach problems will pass. Are you still taking all of your probiotics? Glad you are feeling quite good other than the food problem. Andrea, sorry about the cancellation. This is tough for you. I may have figured out one food...
  18. Jilly, There have been some good points here. After being gluten-free for almost a year, I discovered via labs that I have many profound deficiencies as I just wasn't absorbing. My doctor has been heavily supplementing since, some by injection, and am feeling better. I agree with Shay that testing and a good doctor are important. At the same time...
  19. Scott, this is a positive, so yes, biopsy is next. Dom't go gluten free until after the biopst though. You might do some research on GI's, not all are this best with celiac.
  20. Fig girl, sorry I can't help with the pain med question. Deb, welcome to the thread--I know you have "been here" for awhile but it is nice to see your post. Pele, I agree about the info on canned vegetables. Do you think that calling a company is adequate? I'm wondering where in the production process something like this would happen. Cici, are...
  21. I have a really superb allergist. He titrates the dose not just based on my skin reaction but my symptoms. He'll go way way out to very tiny doses (dilutions). When I start reacting to the shot, like I did recently, he assesses the situation and then cuts the dose back appropriately. For many years he was unable to treat me to mold because even the tiniest...
  22. That's the way I used to be. Out here my worst season is fall, my doctor said it was likely mold. The shots have helped a lot. So far this is my best year.
  23. I got creative with my buns: I cut strips of parchment paper and stapled them into rings the size I wanted. Then I put these on a piece of parchment. I put the gluten-free dough in the middle in "globs" to divide it up evenly. A spoon or knife dipped in water help smooth out the dough to fill out the ring and smooth out the top. After baking, I pull...
  24. I could very well have both. I'm not feeling that bad, so hopefully it will pass. If it is mold I'll probably get a lot worse when I go to Thailand Friday for a week.
  25. Hmm, well my results haven't been unclear, I have been extremely sensitive to mold, its gotten better just the last several years enough that I could do a shot. Never could tolerate them before. Also my allergist is trained in environmental medicine and always backs the dosage off when needed. I've backed off to the lowest dose possible with what I have...
