  1. Your pain sounds a lot like what turned out to be lyme disease for me. It is for me most typically in the extremities or upper back. I had an incident that is exactly like Raynauds but that wasn't typical either. The pain can travel around, like one joint be extremely painful for an hour and it be totally gone in 3-4 hours and another areas start hurting...
  2. I'd push for him doing something...its important.
  3. My thought is that you could try to call the GI office again but don't talk to the appointment taker---she had no business answering your question in my opinion. Ask for the nurse. Explain what has happened. Some GI's would diagnose you from just your dietary response. Others will say it is not important. Then ask if you go off gluten and end up with...
  4. I've just had a summer from H__ dealing with insurance about my own stuff, so I can totally relate. Its to the point that any email about bills or insurance claims triggers anxiety and physical symptoms. The next thing you know, your appointment and diagnosis on the day before will be used to exclude a prior condition! Maybe you better check on that...
  5. Yes, I found another post that explains the components that are irritating to the gut but forget the details. Some of the foods were eliminated due to clinical practice--it didn't seem well tolerated. I think it is true that it isn't the carb content. I don't have too many symptoms either, but testing shows a lot of gut problems, so I don't think you...
  6. More good suggestions! I second Carla's ideas...parasites have clearly been part of my problem too. I've passed a lot too. Feel free to PM if you want more info about what I think helped get rid of them. One other thought I had, would your chef be willing to make a list of the brands/names of products he/she is using for you? If so, you can post...
  7. It's probably still okay, maybe the count will be lower. Too hot and it will be like spoiled milk looking. Just work on your system until you get it stable... Sherry
  8. I find this curious because after my mold shot reaction I have had a rash area on my hairline, and more facial breakout. The rash is very unusual for me and it is sort of like what you describe. Sherry
  9. I agree, the taste of the yogurt is mild not hugely sour like you would expect. I add fruit, or top fruit with yogurt. Now that I have found honey, my sweet treat is blended yogurt and frozen fruit with a little honey and vanilla. It is SOOOO good, like a shake but much better than anything I have gotten in a fast food place. I add it to my carrot chicken...
  10. Donna you have/are going through a lot!!! This is scary, but glad you like the surgeon. I find surgeons can be very offhand and not personable at all. Sherry
  11. Yes, I am alternating Zith and Enula on a two week schedule to try it for 2 months. My LLMD would like me on both but ART says I shouldn't so he wants to try this first.
  12. I'd agree with Carla. It could be that he didn't have a long enough abx treatment and as he is aging his immune system can no longer keep it at bay. It could be that treatment might give him a number of great years still.
  13. Glad you are a lot better, hope you can get the meds you need with the area hit so badly.
  14. There is a lot of research and documentation that supports this. I think that when we are holding back on the emotional things--with denial or whatever like you mentioned Kassandra--we also don't connect that we are in this category. We can block out whole incidents or block out the significance of them or whatever. Then not connect that we need to deal...
  15. One more comment, I remember a poster on the forum who said she had to puree her food for about 6 months. The intestine can be in pretty bad shape.
  16. That's an unusual way to diagnose celiac. With no change after 2 months either good or bad I'd want to start exploring other reasons for the malabsorption. The other thought might be that you will have to much more restricted initially. Check out SCD perhaps. Try the book Breaking the Vicious Cycle and see if that fits you. Here's one idea: Open...
  17. I sure hope you are better today! Kassandra, ditto from me!
  18. Isn't it strange? and Zith is the other abx that tests well for me on ART, too. I think perhaps some of the differences are that maybe I have an Asian strain of the bugs.
  19. Happy Birthday, Andrea! Wishes for a special day...
  20. What I read from Elaine was that minor infractions might not be too impactful but she is concerned that people would constantly make exceptions and undermine healing, then decide the approach doesn't work She also said that people who are not strict might still improve over time but it would be much slower and perhaps less complete healing. I think trying...
  21. I agree with this post. Can't figure some doctors out!! At least he picked up the changes suggestive of celiac and told you! Do the five blood tests recommended on this forum if you haven't already. IF you have and have negatrive results, and you don't want another biopsy, you could do Enterolab for some further evidence. I feel for you. I had h...
  22. I agree with this post. Did you have any other testing but the intestinal permeability? Have you seen any changes at all, even worsening of something? Are you taking digestive enzymes? The damage you have may be impacting your ability to make enzymes. I take two prescription dose pancreatic enzymes with every meal and it helps a lot. When you...
  23. Patti, sure hope it isn't lyme! Too bad you didn't have the tick to send for testing. Bev, so glad you are getting some pain relief. I recently realized how much pain relief I get from Zithromax. Was off 2 months and had pain the whole time, pretty mild but gradually worsening. Got back on, herxed, and have felt better since. I'm back off now for...
  24. I'd suggest that you check out the lyme disease thread on this forum, as you didn't mention that being ruled out. Certainly it could be a food intolerance and I'd guess a careful elimination diet could help with that. I agree about the deficiencies. I had low levels of many things, plus didn't absorb things well when I supplemented. Vitamin D is another...
  25. You can find information on google. The basic text is "Breaking the Vicious Cycle." My favorite website is www.pecanbread.com www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info www.scdiet.com Here's some to get you started. The diet sounds like it could be helpful to you for a period of healing. It eliminates carbohydrates that have to be broken down. So...
