  1. As I recall Milk Duds are not gluten free, have malt in them??
  2. I had gastritis for 2 years prior to diagnosis. Its much better now. Digestive enzymes helped. It also turned out I had a case of h pylori--celiacs are more prone to this apparently. I took a course of treatment for it but one thing that helped the most was mastic gum (Mastica). Also DGL--a form of licorice was very soothing to my stomach. How...
  3. I second the comment about checking out lyme disease. Addressing candida, other infections, parasites, toxicities could all be factors. Additional food sensitivities is also certainly a possibility and an elimination diet could be helpful. Soy is a real problem for me. What is currently making a big difference for me is eliminating most carbs. ...
  4. I posted earlier and want to add an update that I have lost quite a bit of weight since starting the SCD in mid July. What amazes me is that I can eat honey and fruit and still lose. I agree with an earlier poster that I gained weight prior to diagnosis because my body was in starvation mode--it just what makes sense with what I have seen. Apparently...
  5. Kirkman lactobacillus acidophilus is free of all those. Kirkman arrives really fast. I am making my SCD safe yogurt with this and it works quite well.
  6. I think the post is important because due to our autoimmune problems and compromised immune systems, many of us struggle with allergies (to mold and many other things). It is wonderful that many here get totally well on just gluten-free approaches but unfortunately there are many more of us who have other issues along with celiac.
  7. Sure hope you feel some relief soon, Carla. Andrea, not sure what the letters stand for. Would it be expensive? I wonder about trying something like SCD or some of the other dietary approaches that work for autism and other neuro symptoms. Seems like it could be a neuro symptom and not just "attitude."
  8. Carla I didn't get your update... Sounds pretty bad. Did you back off on Enula and your abx and stuff? Seems like what you are doing is good. A few times I have done a second ecoffee during the bad days and it helps a lot. Sherry
  9. I don't drip mine either, it is more like drinking yogurt. I think I may eventually drip some to try in recipes because I cannot get cottage cheese at all here.
  10. Many people reports ups and downs in the healing process. Quite often is it connected to accidental gluten, but I think not always. Many of us notice increased sensitivities as part of the healing process. Perhaps getting off gluten uncovers this problem. I now realize that GFCFSF plus avoiding a few allergens was not adequate for me. The intestinal...
  11. Good for you, I've used a heating pad before too. Good luck, hope it comes out well. My latest batch is about ready to put in the fridge.
  12. I agree with these posters. Some children need an even stricter diet that limits carbs due to digestion problems and follow the SCD. Lots of autistic kids on that diet. You can read a lot about it if you want to on www.pecanbread.com My point is that even a more restricted diet than gluten-free can be very nutritious and kids can thrive on it. Too...
  13. There are some very specific cancers that are closely related to celiac. You might do a check for those, and then inquire about the specific cancers in your family. Could help. With genes, just remember that there are still celiacs without the typical genotype. If you do have a common gluten sensitivity or celiac gene, it does help paint a clearer picture...
  14. Susie, SO GOOD to see you and what wonderful news! Hope all goes well during the pregnancy. Great updates on everyone. Kassandra--good news that this is helping. I'd love an email. Carla, I'll look forward to your email, too. Donna, glad to "see" you too.
  15. Carla, sounds like detox is happening so maybe you are fine. Other ideas: charcoal, skin brushing, temporarily remove moldy foods from diet like mushrooms, etc. My allergist tells me fall is a bad time for mold allergy. You have air filters, right? Maybe clean them frequently?? Clean any filters before you start heating your house. Clean vents and...
  16. Me, too. I passed. I have to look up my scores though. Does anybody believe that I am not biotoxic, LOL? Still passing small worms pretty often.
  17. I think what I was using was pasteurized, just got it at my local Fred Meyer. It was the Meyenburg (sp?) brand? Organic. You pasteurize it anyway yourself before you use it. I read about the greek yogurt but what I found seems like it had the same organizms. I'd try the Kirkman. It comes really fast. You'd at least have a change to try scd safe...
  18. Your experience is a common one. Biopsies can be false negative even when they are done well. Your dietary response is clear however. Do you need further diagnosis? You could do an Enterolab test to get some more information, including a gene test. Positive celiac genes and positive dietary response are highly suggestive, especially with elevated...
  19. The body's response to gluten in celiac and in a wheat allergy is quite a different mechanism, so no, they are not the same thing. The treatment is the same though, stay away from it.
  20. Sure sounds like you need to rule out lyme disease....
  21. It IS really hard at first to find all the sources of gluten. Personal care products and kitchen pans and utensils need to be considered. Is your household gluten free? If you are pretty sure that is not the problem, could be you are one of us who needs to be stricter and remove some other things. Soy, milk, major allergens, grains, nightshades, legumes...
  22. I'd second the suggestion of the SCD. If you go to www.pecanbread.com, this is almost all about kids on this diet and recovering from very similar symptoms. Check out the stories there and see if it connects for you. SCD is gluten free, but removes other things as well, mainly carbohydrates that can't be broken down by the compromised gut.
  23. Shaunnie, I think you really need to get her off gluten very very strictly. Other autoimmune diseases are associated with celiac, especially untreated. Hopefully removing gluten will allow these other things to normalize. Also it would be wise to try to supplement her deficiencies, but that needs to be done wisely and according to her needs. Most docs...
  24. I'm finding your post a little hard to read. Did you mean the total IgA is very low? If so, the other blood tests would be unreliable.
