  1. Oh oh. Can you make an electrolye type drink to help replace what you are losing? I'm doing okay in spite of symptoms, not severe enough to undermine daily function. A Donna siting, LOL! Wish we'd hear from Julie. Its been quite a while, and I wonder if she is doing ok.
  2. Kassandra, for ulcers (usually h pylori) what really helped me was Mastica--mastic gum. But I was on a couple other things too initially. Sure hope the pain eases soon!
  3. Yes, the lack of lactase is a problem. There are also a couple more carbohydrate digesting enzymes formed in the intestinal villi that may be missing because of the damage of celiac. This has been a real problem for me because after going gluten-free for over a year, I still was not making these enzymes. I am now doing much better after eliminating the...
  4. I don't think what you describe is too unusual for undiagnosed celiac. Sounds like the GI tract is very reactive right now. I assume you are still eating gluten to finish your testing?? One of the primary things from the intestinal damage is fat malabsorption, and fatty stools are very common. There are a lot of ways this shows up but it seems to me...
  5. Demmy, Glad you posted here. While it is possible that some gluten has sneaked into your diet, it appears to me that you have thoroughly explored the dietary options as well as some other things. I think it is wise to explore further testing, and hopefully you will get a diagnosis and some help. You might pop in to the VERY long thread on this...
  6. I'm noticing that I am now having some symptoms when I take my B vitamines and glutathione. I also had what I can only describe as a mild anxiety attack last Saturday, after taking my reduced dosage mold shot. I've never noticed this type of reaction before but noticed it today again with the shots. Since my LLMD gave me a "range" of dosage and I am...
  7. Congratulations! Sounds like a resounding success! I think that because of the damage different ones don't tolerate different things even on the diet. So I'd just eliminate something when it doesn't agree and then try in a month or so--it just could be a healing issue rather than a true allergy or food intolerance. At least that is what I am doing...
  8. Timothy, I just read through this thread and want to wish you well with your appointment tomorrow. Gastritis/ulcers are usually caused by h pylori infection, and I have read the celiacs are less resistant to this. I had a case of it for 2 years before it was diagnosed and I was miserable. That was before gluten-free for me though. I think...
  9. Happy birthday Birdie! I'm not familiar with that supplement but you sound intolerant to me. I take nattokinase and poke root to help lymph.
  10. Ali, that's right on the crock pot and rice cooker, I don't put the yogurt down inside, but up on top. I use a candy thermometer to check the temps especially the first time. So for example, here's how I use my rice cooker. Fill the pan half full of water and put the rice cooker on warm. Open the lid and put a plate on the opening to cover it. Put...
  11. Great news, both of you!
  12. Enterolab does not claim to diagnose celiac, so it won't get you an official diagnosis though it sounds like your doctor has already given you one. Enterolab says they can pick up gluten sensitivity for up to a year after gluten free. The gluten challenge is difficult. I feel for you.
  13. So multiple food allergies but not celiac?
  14. So interesting! Gene pool mixing just has increased with all the increased moving around in the world. What I know is German, English, Norwegian, but nobody really knows what all is in the mix. My grandfather had the bright red hair... I'm the only celiac I know of in the family but suspect many others; both parents have DQ2 because I have a double...
  15. Good advice. Besides your own personal need to commit to the diet long term, some folk pursue diagnosis for the sake of first degree relatives. A firm diagnosis means all of them need to be tested as well. A doctor's article I read also mentioned that with celiac many other known issues should be checked, and autoimmune diseases that are associated screened...
  16. Wonderful! Glad it worked out so well. Hope it tastes good! Ali do you have a bun warmer, rice cooker with a warm setting, a crock pot with a low setting? Any of these might work with some creativity. I've never had a yogurt maker so can't help you with the brand. My guess is most would work fine.
  17. I'd agree that it looks pretty severe, both gluten indexes clearly positive and very severe malabsorption. Based on my own experience (my malabsorption score was over 1300), I'd see if you can get further testing to check malabsorption of proteins and carbohydrates; maybe wait three months as mentioned above and see if he is improving noticeably. Enterolab...
  18. I think mold is a factor for me but not THE factor. I moved into a more moldy environment in '78, allergies worsened after that, then the tick bite and things went pretty much downhill from there. Mold has always been a major allergy problem, and until the last several years I tolerated no amount at all in an allergy shot. I've been able to treat it since...
  19. Tests that helped: Enterolab is the top of my list because it was because of that my celiac was diagnosed, and it may never have been otherwise. Bowen labs--confirmed lyme Rosmed--diagnosed sugar digestion problem Spectracell (the old version), Doctor's Data amino acids, urine (for metals, forget the name of the test), Vitamin D levels for identifying...
  20. It's weird being in another time zone and all my posts get bunched together... Rachel, count me in on the MCS. It started after I got lyme disease, and was really bad for a while. 30 seconds in a grocery store and other stores and I was faint. Especially bad are places like Costco--where there is poor ventilation. I still have problems but not...
  21. There are some articles in Scott's celiac newsletters that discuss elevated gliadin levels and no other elevations. Maybe that is a place you could look although there is a subscription cost.
  22. According to Enterolab the only genotype not associated with gluten sensitivity is DQ4, only found in Asians. Now of course there are other factors than genotype. I have read that more are getting diagnosed in Asia. Here in China though, I have yet to talk to anyone who has even heard of the disease. They find it incredulous that someone can't eat...
  23. That's a bummer. I have read about the test. Does it now include the part that checks for a low total IgA? If not, it will have the same problem as regular blood tests if that is also not checked. I read that the new version of the home test would include that. I think I would be concerned that you didn't get the correct response on the test. Can...
  24. Yes of course any of us can be sensitive to anything. True you might not like the duck eggs taste by itself but I don't notice the difference in baking.
  25. How disappointing but not an uncommon experience unfortunately. Antigliadin is only inaccurate for diagnosing celiac, it still will indicate sensitivity to gluten. Rashes definitely are a sign of celiac, there is a skin version of the disease. If she has any weeping from the rash, get her to a dermatologist who can biopsy the weeping lesion. If positive...
