  1. Thanks, Riceguy. Would it work with eggs only or eggs and melted butter? Also how to do measure for the flour then? I notice that 1/2 C of nuts makes quite a bit more than 1/2 C of finely ground. Well I could probably buy flour over the internet, but getting it sent here, and have it actually arrive, is another matter. It would be pretty expensive...
  2. Hey, everyone. Check out this chart. Open Original Shared Link
  3. I'm on SCD and using almond nut flour for baking but am struggling with getting it ground fine enough. Appliances here in China are limited, weak in power, expensive for what you get. My current appliance grinds a small amount in the blender that is "meal" rather than "flour." The dry grinder attachment (looks like a coffee grinder) makes it into almond...
  4. Glad you had this experience. I just noticed you are double DQ2, as I am. Is the the 0201 or 0202 that you have two of? There aren't too many of us on the forum.
  5. Could be parasites, my thought too. Also it is 1-2 years healing for adults...
  6. Welcome mslee! Glad you have found us. Exactly what happened with my rheumie...he was "known" for thoroughness of diagnosis, and was the recognized expert on lyme at the local med school. The only thing he said that was positive about my lyme diagnosis (by another doctor) was that I was having a clear herx response to the bicillin shots...
  7. Timothy, I think a positive ttg is pretty conclusive--and more doctors are considering it so even though the "gold standard" hasn't changed (positive biopsy). A positive anti-gliadin isn't quite so conclusive--as it can be an allergic response to the gluten. Someone please correct me if I am wrong about this. Not sure about the EMA--I've read but don...
  8. Zith is pretty much THE med for me, I don't know why. Seems like after being on it so long it would lose its effectiveness. My current thought is that my digestive problems that were pretty much unknown in the first years of treatment have undermined the effectiveness of lyme treatment. Was just reading from the Gut and Psychology--well excerpts from...
  9. I think it is common to be runny; has to do with the milk itself. Cream will make a very thick yogurt. I got pretty thick yogurt last time, I used my previous batch and put a half cup in or so, got the temperature and time right, and it was thick enough it was hard to pour.
  10. My doctor ordered more "alternative" testing to check vitamin and mineral levels in blood and the intracellular levels.
  11. Kassandra, again so sorry for all of this!!! Sure hope it is resolved readily without more invasive procedures. Blood sugar goes up when there is infection and I think with stress. Hopefully that won't be a big issue. Carla, so glad the D has stopped, and you are tolerating more food. This has been a rough period for you, and a wake up call to all...
  12. I agree with others here. I don't find the gluten-free prepared foods very palatable, other than a few cookies. But I found some things to bake that are really good. Cakes, such as carrot cake are wonderful. My non gluten-free friends think it tastes wonderful. Flax seed bread (my version is based on Lorka's bread recipe adjusted for what is available...
  13. It could be the fruit but pure fructose in fruit is easier to digest because it is a monosaccharide. Are you eating sugars and complex carbs? Celiacs can have trouble digesting carbs due to lack of the digestive enzymes made in the villi. If you aren't able to break them down, they will show up in a stool test as elevated sugar. So you can test that...
  14. I'd take it back too if it is too hot! That's a bummer.
  15. I think that is common, yes.
  16. This is extremely common with food intolerances or food allergies. Some people report some initial negative symptoms going gluten-free although your reaction seems strong. I would think that a positive or a negative response to the diet is significant and warrents staying to wait things out. Just be aware that any diagnostic testing for celiac needs...
  17. Sorry I haven't read anything about the reticulin, that doesn't seem a usual test. The others are negative. I notice a Ttg wasn't done either. My impression also from what I have read is that it can take months rather than weeks on gluten for the damage to show up enough for positive tests. As well, as you know, a low total IgA may mean no positive...
  18. Also from what I have read, some damage is microscopic only, so depends on a good lab technician to read it, too, assuming it is caught in the biopsy selection.
  19. She may not accept Enterolab. I have not seen any posts here about GHC, so I would ask for documentation about the lab's record. I've seen a couple of labs mentioned here, Promethius or something like that is one. Hopefully you'll get more responses that will be helpful. I think the "refuse more testing" comment shows a lack of understanding about...
  20. I'd try vitamin C and magnesium. The intestine must have magnesium in order to contract. Start low and work up to a dose that helps you eliminate. Vitamin C in higher doses leads to loose stool--and it won't hurt you as you'll excrete any excess. This was my main symptom for celiac, I know I used to wonder the same thing! After trying many things...
  21. I'd wait for the diet until the testing is done. Be sure they have done all the blood tests recommended on this site, and have decided whether to do a biopsy or not. Once you go gluten-free that will most probably mean any further blood or biopsy tests are negative. I'm not sure at what age biopsies are done, probably someone else can post about that....
  22. Thanks for posting this. I read about the book on this forum but didn't write down the name and then couldn't find it. I couldn't open your link though. You might look at this link: Open Original Shared Link
  23. Open Original Shared Link You all might like this link about the contents of a book on the Gut and Psychology. It discusses the importance of the flora of the gut with immune system, etc. Some of what we have talked about here already.
  24. Maybe it is getting back on your meds too soon?
  25. Amber I was also thin until into my thirties and suddenly started having a lot of problems; now I am pretty sure it was the damage to the intestine, lack of digestive enzymes (undigested food causing havoc) and going into starvation mode due to severe malabsorption.
