  1. You may be low in B12. Get some sublingual B12 tablets and see if that helps.
  2. It would be helpful if you could post the actual test results, the names of the tests and the lab reference range. It does sound like your in the right place. If you are going to be having an endoscopy then you need to keep eating gluten until that is done. Some doctors will diagnose on blood tests that are positive and response to the diet.
  3. WOW!!!!!!!!!! That's a video I am going to have to bookmark. Looks like a relaxing way to spend a winter afternoon. Thanks for posting.
  4. You bet. Wouldn't want to be without her although she is hardly a puppy. Actually I am thankful for that too as she was already crate trained and housebroken. I think she is thankful to be gluten free also because she doesn't have to deal with the upset tummy she had at the shelter and the first couple days here. I am also thankful for the 16 year old...
  5. Did they also do a spinal tap to confirm the MS? Gluten ataxia causes brain lesions like the ones you get with MS but the spinal fluid won't show the 'debris' that MS does. They thought I had MS until I had the spinal done. I hope you continue to do well.
  6. I am thankful that I am still alive and not in daily pain anymore. Don't miss the gluten at all....well, except for phyllo...
  7. Is the house gluten free? If it is a mixed house make sure you are taking the precautions needed for him to be safe. If he is in school or goes to a sitters make sure that they are being just as careful. Also be sure stuff like the clays, paints, glues etc that he may use for arts and crafts are gluten free. He could also have another intolerance, soy...
  8. Since Celiac is autoimmune and even if folks don't get symptoms they are still flaring the antibodies I would say, IMHO, yes all should be concerned about CC.
  9. I am sorry you are feeling so awful. It seems your body is giving you a pretty clear answer. 2 weeks will likely not be long enough for positive tests as it is advised we go back on gluten for 3 months or so. Do call your doctor, ask to speak to a nurse and explain in detail what is going on symptom wise. If you are being woken up at night by your tummy do...
  10. ((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))) You did not choose to have celiac, it was in your genes from birth. Your husband married you for better or worse and you are lucky he is understanding. Don't feel guilty about the cost as the money you will save on scripts and doctors appointments will outweigh the cost of the specialty foods you get...
  11. Are you using a baking mix or just plain gluten free flours? If you're not using a mix that has it in it then I would say yes you do need to get some for the cookies to come out right. You should be able to find it in with the spices in many grocery stores. Perhaps someone else might know something you could sub for it?
  12. Since you have had the testing you need to have done you can now start the diet. You need to be on the diet no matter what the results of the biopsy as your blood test was positive. As others mentioned the biopsies can have false negatives so do keep on the diet even if that test isn't positive. Ask any questions you need to and read as much as you can here...
  13. I am an American mutt. Mom's side was Welsh, Irish and English and Dad was German, Dutch and ?. Oddly enough I carry a double copy of a Celiac associated gene that is from either the Middle East or Asia and is uncommon in the US caucasian population. I got one copy from each parent. Forever a mystery at this point.
  14. Welcome to the board. The first thing you need to do is to get a celiac panel done before you go completely gluten free. Do make sure it has the total IGA included. It is important that you are eating gluten for both the blood test and the biopsy (if you choose to have one) to have the best chance to be accurate. The tests do have a high false negative...
  15. Have you called the doctor and told them how severe your reaction is? If not do so. Ask to speak to a nurse if your doctor doesn't do call backs. This is especially the case if your D is waking you up at night as that is a typical Celiac symptoms and not a symptom of IBS. Some will call off the challenge or they may put you on a cancelation list to get you...
  16. Some hospitals can be pretty savvy. One I cooked at, for example, would have the eggs for the cafe line done first on a clean grill before anything else. The only problem was if we ran out and then had to order from the back kitchen. I was hired there because I had experience in cooking for people with dietary restrictions (boy do I know now how much more...
  17. This could also be from low humidity in your room. You can pick up a small humidifier or a low or no cost thing that might help is putting large bowls of water in your room. On a radiator or near a heat vent works well or just in a corner if your someplace where you don't need heat right now.
  18. If you had a positive blood test you need the diet no matter what the endo results are. It is entirely your choice as to whether you want to have one done or not. Some doctors will diagnose if you have been having symptoms, had a positive blood test, symptoms resolve on the diet and return if you accidentally get gluten. If you are going to have the endo...
  19. ((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I hope things continue to go smoothly.
  20. The poor guy. Do get the blood tests done ASAP. Call your doctor's office and tell them you want to pick up a lab slip for the draw today. When you call ask to speak to a nurse rather than telling the receptionist. Explain what has been going on briefly and that after all this time throwing up repeatedly and having D you have been feeding him gluten-free...
  21. You can be celiac and have negative test results on blood, biopsy and genes. Have you tried the diet? If you are done with celiac related testing that would be a good next step.
  22. I don't think enough is really known about GI or Celiac to say for sure one way or another.
  23. Glad to hear you are going to try and get in to see a doctor. Not everything is food intolerance related and you might have something more serious going on. I hope you are able to be seen soon.
  24. Although I am officially diagnosed celiac some doctors would consider me gluten intolerant because I don't show up in blood tests and don't have one of the two most common associated genes (in the US anyway they are considered celiac genes in other countries). My symptoms were very severe and well advanced by diagnosis and are in my sig. Personally I consider...
  25. It does sound like you are making some progress. Hopefully things will improve more soon.
