ARCHIVED I Think My Dog Has Celiac!
ravenwoodglass replied to pain*in*my*gut's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
We use Innova Evo. My pets thrive on it. When changing your pets food remember to do it gradually. They are more likely to accept the new food that way and less likely to get any tummy upset. -

ravenwoodglass replied to pain*in*my*gut's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my best freind last summer and it does hurt so much. ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) -
ARCHIVED Update
ravenwoodglass replied to Booghead's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The person you want to see is an allergist. When you call for the appointment make sure you ask if they also deal in food allergies and intolerances. If they don't continue looking. It is likely the doctor will have you do an elimination diet after doing the skin prick test. The doctor will ask you detailed info on what you eat and them form a starting point... -
ARCHIVED My Daughter Had Her Endoscopy....dr Prescribed Nexium
ravenwoodglass replied to carecare's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is only my opinion but you might want to just have her go gluten free. Many times the irritation is from the gluten and gluten free she may not need the meds. At least that was the case for myself and my DD. We also eliminated dairy at first. -
ARCHIVED Experience With Nylabone Pet Products?
ravenwoodglass replied to livelifelarge24's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I got my little dog a new chew yesterday so I can finally post back with the kind we use. It is Hartz 'Chew and Clean'. They last a long time and no gluten issues with them. -
ARCHIVED Mother Drives Me Nuts Cooking Gluten Laden Foods
ravenwoodglass replied to catlover0329's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I respectfully disagree. This should be a safe place for us to vent when things happen and we shouldn't be attacked for it. To attack a new member like that is not what this board is for and it teaches them nothing except not to vent their frustrations again. We all need to have a safe place to vent and for some of us this is the only place we have. ... -
ARCHIVED Picks Up Every Virus She Comes In Contact With
ravenwoodglass replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When we are celiac our bodies use up a lot of it's defenses fighting the reaction. It isn't the case for all but for myself I was constantly sick when I was eating gluten. I have been gluten free now for 9 years and haven't had a virus or infection of any kind since even when I worked in a school around sniffing and coughing kids all day. Don't know if that... -
ARCHIVED No Major Symptoms
ravenwoodglass replied to ibax's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
IMHO everyone should be tested. You really have nothing to lose by getting him screened. Since celiac can affect mood and learning as well as the more typical GI and growth problems you have a wise doctor who is being cautious about your son's health. Many of us have to fight to be tested. Let him get tested as if it is positive you will be saving him from... -
ARCHIVED Mascara Brands gluten-free?
ravenwoodglass replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Same here. That is the only mascara I use too although I don't wear it often. It may be something else that is being reacted to but I don't think it is gluten. -
ARCHIVED Question About My Protein Powder
ravenwoodglass replied to Cashe2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes. Watch out for those ingredients in supplements also. If you haven't opened the package you may want to return it for a powder that doesn't have either of those. -
Glad to hear this! I am sure you will continue to improve. When I was diagnosed I thought just the D would stop as I had no idea that all the arthritic pain and brain issues were celiac related. For me healing came in subtle ways at first but by six months I caught myself running up the stairs that I used to have to pull myself up. It still seems a miracle...

ARCHIVED Are You A Biopsy Confirmed Celiac But Gene Negative?
ravenwoodglass replied to researchmomma's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Although the second challenge my GI insisted on resulted in a severe GI bleed so I was unable to have the biopsy my DD did have one and much later had her genes tested. Our GI diagnosed her based on positive blood work and biopsy but later when had had gone to college she had her genes tested and her new GI told her she couldn't be celiac because she didn... -
ARCHIVED Upper Gi/ribcage Pain
ravenwoodglass replied to pondy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So sorry you are having to go through this. I hope you are feeling better soon. (((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))) -
ARCHIVED Beyond Confused! Help Plz!
ravenwoodglass replied to hspichke's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Childbirth is often a trigger for celiac in women. You do sound like one of us. This is only my personal opinion but I would wait on the drug that will send you into menapause. If your GI didn't do a full celiac panel along with a total IGA then call the office and see if you can pick up a lab slip Monday to get that done. If you are going to agree to an... -
ARCHIVED Strange Food Label
ravenwoodglass replied to tennisman's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The difference I think is in labeling regs. Some would consider the the glucose syrup processed enough to be gluten free. Personally I would pass on the item. -
ARCHIVED This Is Just Confusing (Iga, Ttg, Iga Deamidated)
ravenwoodglass replied to eborzecki's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The deamidated Gliadin is a different test from the gliadin and is more sensitive than the gliadin IGA. With two weeks on the diet is isn't unusual for the TTG to be lower than before you went gluten free. What it means is you are celiac and you are doing the right thing by staying gluten free and you may want to retest in 6 months or so and make sure the... -
ARCHIVED Interpretation Of Blood Work Results
ravenwoodglass replied to Debbie48's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No that is not uncommon at all. Celiac tests do have a high rate of false negatives but not false positives. -
ARCHIVED Two Docs With Differing Opinions
ravenwoodglass replied to AVR1962's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Can you stay with the new doc? If you also have something else going on being gluten free isn't going to mask it or prevent it from being picked up in tests. It sounds like your old doctor may not like that after your being ill for a long time and him not being able to figure it out someone else has. Might not be the case but I would change to the new more... -
ARCHIVED A Summary Of 2011 (Funny)

This is just too funny. Off to email this to a freind... Mawwwhaaaahaaa -
ARCHIVED Interpretation Of Blood Work Results
ravenwoodglass replied to Debbie48's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That is a positive celiac panel. Don't go gluten free yet though if you are having an endo. Wait until the endo is done and then you can go gluten free that day. Even if the endo should come back negative you still need to be on the diet. Ask any other questions you need to and read as much as you can here. I hope you are feeling better soon. -
ARCHIVED Who Makes Best Pizza Crust?
ravenwoodglass replied to ScarlettsMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Of those I would vote for the Kninnickinnick. Gluten Free Pantry makes a French Bread Mix that makes a great pizza dough if you have that locally. A bit more trouble to prepare than the premade but tastes great. It did take a bit for me to get used to having to spread it with a greased spatula but worth it. -
ARCHIVED Severe Symptoms All The Sudden & Not Sure Why
ravenwoodglass replied to Macbre's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you are not feeling better today do call your doctor. Not everything is always gluten related and with pressure in your chest and breathlessness it is a good idea to get things checked out just in case. -
ARCHIVED Communion Wafers
ravenwoodglass replied to ScarlettsMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you are catholic Canon Law requires the host to have wheat. You could try the ones that are used by your church or that the other poster mentioned. You might want to wait until you are well healed first though so you will know if you are reacting to them. Some other faiths that observe communion will let you sub a gluten free cracker or piece of bread... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy Afte Effects?
ravenwoodglass replied to NoodleUnit's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You may want to call your doctors office and ask to speak to a nurse. It sounds like the anesthesia may still be in your system. Use extreme caution if you have to drive and if you can avoid driving for at least today that might be good. Also be sure to tell the doctor that it was not effective when it should have been so if you need to have a procedure that... -
ARCHIVED Intermittent Symptoms?
ravenwoodglass replied to Kitagrl28's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My symptoms came and went for years. I would be sick one or two days a week and then GI wise would be fine for the other days except for a constantly growling tummy and bloat. It wasn't until the last 5 years before I was diagnosed that my GI problems were a daily and then day and night happening. Do stay on gluten until all celiac related testing is done...
