  1. Well he is flat out wrong about the accuracy of the tests. Even if he did biopsy for celiac a few years ago that doesn't rule it out today. When your done with all the testing you choose to do then do give the diet a good strict try no matter what the results. As to the gene testing while those are the most commonly associated genes they are not the only...
  2. Do you wear eye makeup or contacts? If yes to either you may be allergic to something in them.
  3. I have to wonder how many of us who come from 'short' families and are told that since everyone is short it is our 'genes' are actually from family lines that have strong celiac backgrounds. I know in my case I got my celiac associated genes from both sides.
  4. I lost a full shoe size also but in my case it was from getting rid of full body edema. I now wear the same shoe and clothing size I did in my teens.
  5. I'm 5'2" doctors told my mom when I was two that I would be 5'8". Some sort of calculation they do with thigh bones. I have very long legs but a shortened trunk. My son is 5', he became celiac in infancy and has shortened thigh and upper arm bones, my DD is 5'4" she was hit with celiac as an early teen, we were told she would be tall but stopped growing at...
  6. It does look like it could be DH. Did they bake those cupcakes in the classroom?
  7. I didn't have that happen as a result of being gluten free but it did happen as a result of taking a prescribed drug that was being given to me at toxic levels. This sometimes happens to folks that have gone through chemo or have lost a lot of hair and had it grow back. Mine eventually went back to being wavy instead of curly but I can't say whether yours...
  8. Do go gluten free no matter what the tests say, it may help a great deal. When folks have more neuro impact than gut often the tests will be a false negative. I don't know if you also suffer from depression or other mood issues but if you do you may want to check out this thread and the links to NIH abstracts.
  9. Yes it is. Here are links to a bit of info. On the sidebars of these abstracts are other studies. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link "Coeliac disease should be taken into consideration in patients with psychiatric disorders, particularly if they are not responsive to psychopharmacological therapy, because withdrawal of gluten from...
  10. I agree it is likely the withdrawl. It should pass soon. For me it took about 2 weeks for the withdrawl to end for others it ends sooner, for some a bit longer. Hang in there.
  11. You do sound like your in the right place. Keep eating gluten until after your endo and then you can give the diet a good strict try. Kudos to your doctor for realizing that low total IGA causes false negatives on the testing. Endos can have false negatives also. The diet has relieved depression and other mental health issues for quite a few of us. It also...
  12. For me stress really doesn't make any difference. If this started after adding the supplements you may want to stop them for a couple weeks and see if it helps. There may be something in them that your body doesn't want, either the supplement or the fillers.
  13. Are you eating mostly whole unprocessed naturally gluten free foods? If not you may want to do so for a while. If your still consuming dairy it is best to drop that for now. Until you heal you may be lactose intolerant. In addition soy is sometimes an issue for us. So drop the dairy and soy for now and see if that helps.
  14. Ditto. Also some of us with neurological issues have to be very strict to have those resolve. It does sound like you have gluten sneaking in somewhere. Do you have a significant other who eats gluten? If you do are you having him/her brush their teeth before intimate kissing? If not you should as that can gluten you. Also you should avoid baking with wheat...
  15. You do sound like you could be one of us. Make sure you keep eating gluten until your testing is done. When your done with testing give the diet a good strict try no matter what the results as false negatives are not uncommon.
  16. I use the Garneir line for skin and hair products. They make a great exfoliating scrub that can also be used as a mask as well as just regular cleansing products that are pretty gentle.
  17. Different folks have different tolerance levels. As always the choice is an individual one. You may tolerate it just fine. Myself I simply prefer not to risk items that are 'processed to be gluten free'. When you do find it I hope it works for you. I agree the sorghum beers are not great that's why I go with ciders or rum and pepsi usually.
  18. You would need to go back on gluten and stay on it until the biopsy. I would take your doctors diagnosis and be happy he is educated enough to give you one. Many doctors are now skipping the biopsy when the bloods are positive as the endo has a high risk of a false negative anyway. Stay on the diet and consider yourself diagnosed.
  19. You have had positive blood tests. I would just go gluten free and not look back. There are doctors who will skip the biopsy with positive bloodwork as the biopsy has a fairly high chance of a false negative anyway. The TTG being negative is a good thing as it shows (I think) that as of right now you don't have a lot of autoimmune damage going on. If you...
  20. It is not unusual at all for all in the family to be celiac. Hold off on gluten free breads and other replacements for a bit. Often after people have been gluten free for a while they find the replacements a bit more tasty. Go with whole naturally gluten free foods, stews can be thickened by cutting a potato or two really small and letting it cook down to...
  21. Thanks for all the helpful thoughts yesterday! You've been so patient answering all my questions and it has made me a lot more confident that things will resolve. I just have to be patient and hang tough. When I think I cannot do this anymore, I tell myself that Krista and so many others with really debilitating symptoms have healed, so can I. Thanks a million! Jack says thanks, to...

  22. I am so sorry you are going through this. Do make sure that any meds they are giving you are gluten free. What are you eating? Is it being cooked in pans that you changed out after you were diagnosed? You got some good advice from the previous poster so I don't have a lot to add. Don't give up and don't let them try to tell you it is 'all in your head'. If...
  23. Part of it may be a reaction to the gluten you accidently injested. After we go gluten free our reaction to small amounts can be intensified. That is normal as it is your bodies way of telling you that you are doing the right thing and it really doesn't want gluten. If you can go with mostly unprocessed whole naturally gluten free foods that is best for now...
  24. They almost look like they are a cross between Siamese and Abysinian (sp) they have such regal looking faces. Remind me of Egyptian statues.
