  1. The low BUN could be a result of malnutrition which could be caused by celiac disease. I do think it could fit in the picture with celiac. Open Original Shared Link Low BUN levels are not common and are not usually a cause for concern. They may be seen in severe liver disease, malnutrition, and sometimes when a patient is overhydrated Open Original...
  2. You mention alcohol intolerance, are you drinking distilled gluten grain derived alcohols? Although many of us are fine with them there are celiacs who do react. If you do consume them you may want to stop for a bit and see if that helps. As far as SSRI's are concerned there are folks who just don't tolerate them. I am one of those. They make me worse not...
  3. Kinnickkinnick pizza shells, Gluten free pantry French Bread Mix (makes great pizza crust as well as bread, Gluten Free Pantry Cake Mixes, Tom Sawyer flour mix, this make really good stuff like scallop potatoes, Glutino crackers, Pocono Buckwheat in cream of buckwheat and kasha form, in the frozen dept Glutenfreeda makes some pretty good Burritos, I like...
  4. You may want to do a search using the name of the ataxia and the word celiac. There are quite a few studies that have been done in the last few years on ataxia and celiac or gluten intolerance.
  5. Yes please do. From what I understand although some oral meds may have gluten binders I have never heard of it being in an IV. Perhaps in nutrition that is coming from a tube into your digestive system but not in an IV.
  6. Yes and if you don't have gut symptoms the tests may come back a false negative. After you are done with testing give the diet a good 2 or 3 months to see if it helps.
  7. Technically those are gluten free but many of us do react to them. Including myself, I might as well eat a slice of wonder bread, it has the same effect, as I learned the hard way.
  8. Do give the diet a good strict try now that your testing is done. You do sound like your in the right place. False negatives are unfortunately not rare but if you get good results from the diet you will know you have the answer.
  9. It is possible to get relief quickly. It also isn't unusual to have some ups and down for the first couple months so hang in there if you still have some occasional setbacks. The exhaustion is normal also, many of us go through a bit of withdrawl when we first start the diet and that will pass. The withdrawl may make you a bit more emotional also but that...
  10. You might be able to have her send you a script for the test if she is familiar with your history. If not a General Practioner or Internist as well as an OB/GYN if your female can order the celiac panel for you. If you can't get to a doctor and need to just go gluten free on your own there are lots of folks here willing to help. In some instances the changes...
  11. Welcome to the board you will find a lot of very supportive people here. The first question I have is are you taking name brand Xanax or a generic? The name brand is not gluten free so that could cause issues for you. What do you typically eat? Are you going with mostly unprocessed naturally gluten free food?
  12. Should be no problem with that. Some stuff may cook a bit sooner in a smaller amount so check if about 3/4 the time for the one in the recipe.
  13. You may want to go back to the doctor and ask for a celiac panel. Do it before you go gluten free as you need to be eating gluten for the tests. Celiac disease can cause depression and anxiety due to the antibodies action on the brain. There are quite a few of us who have gotten relief from that type of issue once gluten free. You low B12 and D are often...
  14. You could go with Enterolab but keep in mind that they don't diagnose they look for antibodies in the stool but that is not considered diagnostic by most doctors. For all the other available tests you would need to go back on gluten for a couple of months before testing.
  15. You could also try the library for info if you can't catch a priest or try calling the rectory and make an appointment to talk.
  16. You can get small crockpots and you can also halve recipes. I do that all the time. I sit with the recipe and a pen and cross out the measure given and write in half that amount so I don't mess up when I make whatever it is.
  17. If you want an answer to transubstantiation you may want to talk to your local priest. Most will be happy to talk to you.
  18. You could be reacting to casien (milk protein) along with lactose. You could also be reacting to soy. Or you may not have healed enough yet to handle as much processed food as your eating. Can you go with naturally gluten free whole foods for a bit instead of all the processed stuff? That will help you heal faster with less risk of CC issues. It might be...
  19. If your fairly new to the diet it is likely you are getting CC'd somewhere. Are you eating mostly whole unprocessed foods and have you eliminated gluten from toiletries?
  20. I would go ahead with the D3 for a bit, have your doctor check your levels after a couple months and if the levels are then normal you could cut the D3 back to every other day or three days. You don't want to little D3 but you also don't want too much. If your having neuro symptoms you would want to take a sublingual B12 until you are healed fully gut wise...
  21. You should get a celiac panel if you can. That is the first step for diagnosis. The next step is usually an endoscopic exam of your small intestine. Both of those tests do have a chance of a false negative though. If you have no insurance you do have the option of going on the diet strictly for a few months and seeing if your issues resolve. However if...
  22. Welcome to the board. It will get easier in time. McDonalds is one of the restaurants that you should be avoiding. In fact it is best to avoid restaurants all together for a bit unless they have a gluten free menu and even then it can be risky. You want to go with as much whole unprocessed food as you possibly can. You could so a search by naming the restaurant...
  23. I don't really agree with that statement. Nor do I think unless you have a genetic predisposition to develop gluten reactions that you will develop a wheat reaction by eating it daily. Many people do have wheat daily and never develop celiac or gluten intolerance. There are a lot of children who react to peanuts the first time they eat them and lots of folks...
  24. I made Biscuits again last night. I halve the batch as I am the only one here to eat them. I use a combo of coconut shortening and butter and used just the egg white of 1 egg and they turned out well without the 'eggy' flavor they had the first time. Thanks for the suggestion to just use the whites.
  25. What I did was to drop iodized salt, I used sea salt which does not have added iodine. I also made sure that I wasn't taking iodine in supplements and avoided seafood for a bit. I added it back in after I had been DH free for a while as it is an important nutrient. Have you called the maker of the med your on to make sure it is gluten free? If not you should...
