  1. If you are forming antibodies you have a 'diagnosis' IMHO. You may find after you have been gluten free that seeing doctors on a regular basis is no longer needed. Why do you care what the medical community thinks if the diet restores you to health that should be proof enough for them. I didn't need to see my doctor for almost 2 years after diagnosis....
  2. Great article, but I feel so sorry for the untreated biopsy proven celiacs that they used for the testing. I hope they did it the day after the biopsy not weeks later.
  3. It is amazing how far we can come in 5 years. Happy Happy Anniversary and may you have many, many more.

    ARCHIVED Appt With Ped. Gi

I just hope with all the misery you are all enduring that it doesn't come back a false negative. With the progress he has had I pray even if it does that you will continue the diet with him.

    ARCHIVED Appt With Ped. Gi

Since she is already off it and showing progress I would not put her back on. Talk to the doctor first at the appointment, some are getting smart enough to realize that especially in children as young as she is the response to the diet is much more reliable than testing. False negatives abound. If you have stuff like her growth charts or records of her...
  6. I would go with the Enterolab tests as far as the celiac is concerned. I don't know alot about the other test, but I do know that when I was at my worst it was done over and over again and always came back fine. But so did my celiac panels. In other words I don't know how many false negatives are seen or how reliable they are at picking up antibodies rather...
  7. My furry freinds thrive on the Innova Evo. It is totally grain free, no fillers.
  8. How about just trying her on the diet for a couple of months? You'll really get the clearest answer that way.
  9. Once your diagnosed and on the diet it shouldn't be as much of an issue anymore. When I was still working and not yet diagnosed I generally got up 3 hours early because I knew that was how long it would take my system to 'clear out'. Then I would take an Immodium dose and go to work. Not a pleasant way to live but it enabled me to keep my job. You...
  10. It sounds like you have a smart PA there. If you get results from the diet he will most likely make note of it and state that you have either gluten intolerance or celiac in your record. With your history I suspect you will be a different person after a few months gluten free. You may even find your RA is relieved or even goes into remission. You have...
  11. You got a new hubby, a new home AND got to go to Disney!!!!!!!!! Okay now I'm realllllly jealous. It sounds like things are going well and I can't wait till you get the chance to post us a pic. I always thought Arkansas would be a very nonscenic boring place, until I got to really see it in person. I was surprised how pretty it was. Update us more...
  12. While you are puzzling things out get yourself some gluten free sublingual B12 tablets and a good vitamin, gluten free of course that has a good amount of the other B's and C's. The sores on your tongue could very well be related to vitamin absorption problems. If you are going to use dietary exclusion as a trial be sure to be positive all you are eating...
  13. You might want to really 'challenge' them and have some of those bars a couple times a day or at least 2 to 3 servings of the gluten-free oats for a week. You may find that the gurgles are a precursor to a reaction. I get the gurgles within a couple hours and the real tummy misery starts 3 days later.
  14. Glad the biggest part of the move is over. I hope you settling in well and enjoying the privacy and peace. Have you opened your arms spun around and gone "mine all mine" yet? I think this move is going to make a huge differnce in your quality of life and I am so glad you are finally in your own place.
  15. First off I would let him take care of bailing himself out, give him guidance but I would keep my bankbook closed. Feed him while he pays off stuff, help him stick to his budget and help out in small ways but if you bail him out he will learn nothing from the experience and it will likely repeat. You have recieved some good advice already, the best IMHO...
  16. If you find for some reason that you don't tolerate the probiotics yogurt will do the same thing. We start with eating it twice a day the day we start the antibiotics and that alone does the trick for my family. Of course this is not possible if you can't have dairy, but then again most probiotics are not dairy (casein) free either. My naturopath suggested...
  17. Personally I wouldn't touch it. A nutritionist may say it's fine, after all it has had the 'gluten' 'processed' out of it just like distilled vinagers and alcohols. I learned the hard way about vinager and alcohol, early on, after reading so often that they were safe I kept challenging in the first few months and learned that for me they are anything but...
  18. My DH and I were discussing this today. One thing we thought may happen is that some of the unsafe script drugs may start using safe binders, since they will be cheaper. My hope at least.
  19. Have you eliminated dairy as well? We often need to in the beginning to heal and may remain symptomatic if it is not eliminated. Also have you checked all meds, toiletries, are you the only one at home that is gluten-free? That really makes CC very likely. I agree with your husband that you need to give it a bit more time, also eliminate the dairy for...
  20. Holly if your already gluten free that will impact the tests and they are not all that reliable anyway. The fact that you are feeling better is really a good indication that the diet is needed. Have you eliminated gluten from your toiletries and cosmetics and other sources of CC? Once our bodies are starting to heal even tiny amounts can set off the antibody...
  21. I would start her on the diet and skip the pills, just my personal opinion here. The diet will most likely take care of any issues within a very short time. If she is having stomach pain and there is no reason not to take pepto bismal, name brand liquid, that may deal with the tummy pains for the days until the diet kicks in. I am glad you discovered...
  22. That reaction is a positive diagnostic result. If you want a positive diagnosis solely for the sake of healing and CC knowledge you could not have found a better place than you have right here. Most of us have been through the idiot doctor routine, some for so long that it almost killed us. You may be able to find a good allegist who deals with food...

    ARCHIVED Ugh

Does the can list any natural and/or artificial flavors? It could have been lurking in there. I don't know what brand you purchased but Hormel makes some gluten-free and they have a list on their website of the ones that are.
  24. It is good you finally know. You may want to watch out for iodine in salt and in stuff like vitamins for a bit. I would rethink the chemical peel idea. The scars will fade and if they are really troublesome there are cosmetics that can cover them. You don't want to risk furthur damage by burning the skin. Be careful of all toiletries and such as well...
