  1. I am so glad you are feeling better and not giving up on the gluten free diet. It takes time for a lot of us to get relief I am so glad you have stuck with it and it payed off. I was so happy when my D stopped I never expected my arthritis, fibro and neuro problems to be relieved, but they were also - it just took about 6 months to heal. My GI, after...
  2. Before my diagnosis of celiac I had arthritis and fibro along with neuropathies. I was on Canadian canes and we expected me to be in a wheelchair soon. It took almost 6 months but I grew more pain free as time went on. I cryed the day I found myself running up the stairs. I have no need for meds anymore but have to be very diligent in my avoidance of...
  3. Oh yea, sounds like she got glutened. It is amazing how even a microgram can cause such misery in some of us. I hope she feels better soon.
  4. The B12 is not like an asprin, it may take a few days to see a difference depending on how low your levels are. Have you tried a Rolaids for the pain? It may help.
  5. I also have DH so this may not apply for you but I get a rash and lose hair for at least a month after using a color with wheat in the ingredients. Some folks have no problem, unfortunately I am not one of them.
  6. I thought it was normal too until the off and on symptoms became part of my daily existance. Then it was at least 10 years before I was diagnosed. I get dizzy within a few minutes, then the tummy rumbles and gas, then I get GERD symptoms, the next day joint and muscle pain arrive along with a truely vile depression that will hit along with obsessive thoughts...
  7. Ask them to run a complete Celiac Panel and also to do a B12, folate and iron check. Then go gluten free as soon as the blood is drawn. Many have a false negative on the blood tests so regardless of the results you will want to at least try the diet. And yes those pictures in the other post sure do look like 'celiac teeth'. I have had 8 crowns and more...
  8. You should be able to find the sublingual B12 at GNC with no problem, the folks at the counter can help you find the right one if needed. Just be sure it says Gluten Free somewhere on the box. There is no problem with taking this on top of the Centrum.
  9. You may want to also get a sublingual B12 that will help a great deal with the brain fog and energy, gluten free of course. Also if you can add some spinach to your salad and maybe some sliced zuccini or yellow squash, green beans are also good that would help round out those vitamin and mineral needs. With veggies the brighter the color the more vitamins...
  10. Lister we have all been where you are. Being diagnosed with something like this changes your life, it can seem daunting at first but things will improve. It won't be too long before folks start to say, 'hey you look great how did you do it?' and you will be able to educate them. Your young and were diagnosed promptly, you have a long and most likely healthier...
  11. Yes this is a good idea, you need folate also not just a developing fetus. Make sure though that all your vitamins are clearly labeled gluten free. You may also want to pick up some sublingual B12 if you are fatigued or have any neuro type symptoms like pins and needles, headache, balance problems or mood problems.
  12. Gluten intoelrance may allow candida to develop more readily but I stand by my statement. If gluten intolerance is not in your genetic soup you are not going to develop it. Standard blood tests do not show whether it is in your genes, they show whether you are throwing antibodies into your blood fighting the reaction. Gene testing is not something a...
  13. I could of course be wrong but he may also be wanting to see how much relief you get from the diet. You said in another post you had a normal BM today, that is an excellent sign. You also seem to have strong neuro effects from the gluten, depression and obsessive thought patterns and this may take longer to subside. Your doctor may not be a great personality...
  14. Your genetics cause gluten intolerance. If it is not in your genes you will not develop it.
  15. Lister, you doctor is an on call doctor for emergencies, that is what he meant by the blood or vomit statement. From what you have listed here as going on yesterday and today 'emergency' does not really apply. While I am the first to doctor bash, I've had some doozies, this was not out of line. He may have been up all night putting someones intestines...
  16. The inflammation could be a gluten reaction, in some places they use a suppository and biopsy of the rectal tissue for celiac diagnosis because of this. This inflammation is also why so many of us have hemmies. Hopefully if there is anything to find the doctor will let you know soon.
  17. We all have our low days, and this board is a great way to get through them. I am glad you are feeling better. Trust your doctor on the parasite issue, they can tell from stool samples quite reliably. I would not take anything from any web site to deal with this, there are some folks that advertise on TV and in magazines that would like us to think that...
  18. This is just me but what with the Chrons diagnosis and being newly diagnosed celiac and having a 1 1/2 year old at home I would take a 'leave of absence' if I could. I don't know what your career is but perhaps your company will give you a medical leave?
  19. I am so sorry you are going through so much right now. I am relieved to hear that you are staying gluten-free that is really important. You did not have enough damage apperantly yet for the doctor to diagonse celiac but you are lucky he recognized that you need to be gluten-free to keep from getting that way. It is going to take awhile to get all the nasty...
  20. I also get a gluten reaction from Kahlua, even though they say it is gluten-free. Many believe all celiacs can tolerate grain alcohols as long as they are distilled. I have found out from my own experience that is not the case.
  21. While I would never reccommend this for anyone if it wasn't for that substance I never would have survived pre-diagnosis. Now that I am gluten free I no longer need it. You have only been gluten-free for a short time, make sure you check non-food sources for gluten also and that gassy ikky feeling should go away without assistance.
  22. Your not nuts IMHO. I used to get this also. I don't know what causes it but I do know that for me it has gone away. It felt like when I was carrying my son and he would move in such a way that it felt like he was kicking me in the stomach from the inside under my ribs. It wasn't painful. I just figured it was gas and that I was feeling the contractions...
  23. It can take a while to feel better. I know it can be hard but things should improve. You may want to take a sublingual B12 in addition to a regular gluten free vitamin to help with the energy. Also remember to be diligent about nonfood sources like lotions and shampoos etc. and make sure you have gotten a new toaster and replace wooden cutting boards and...
  24. You have alot of company when it comes to stupid doctors. I am glad you have decided to listen to your body. The gluten police are not going to come and toss us in a bread walled jail if we decide to forgo this poison. You know what your body is telling you and your body will appretiate your listening to it. Welcome to the family
  25. Oh no, I hope things don't get too bad. Try not to use too much of the Immodium if you can avoid it though you want to get that stuff out of your system as soon as you can. I hope this passes quickly for you.
