I was glutened 2 weeks ago. Symptoms were severe. Right after recovering I have started having hot flashes and sweats every time I eat or drink. I went through menopause over 10 years ago and haven't had hot flashes in at least 6 years. I only get them when eating or drinking. Anybody gone through this?

Yes, I got glutened 4 x in one week. My new son-in-law was living with us before they found a place and bought some mayo that he liked. When they moved out they forgot to take it with them. I was unaware of all this. Last Wed I made deviled eggs and grabbed what was in the fridge. We have both squeeze and jar in my fridge and am used to everyone checking...

I have a DH rash on my chest. Have had celiac 6 years and this is the first time with this reaction. I recently read about the healing properties of coconut oil. Last night the itching and burning was driving me nuts and I couldn't sleep. I had an old, barely used jar of coconut oil in the back of my fridge. It was hard and cold. I scraped some off with...

ARCHIVED Cat Scan Med
Yellow Rose posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had a CAT scan done yesterday and asked if the barium drink was gluten free. Of course the imaging dept didn't know what I was talking about. After explaining they called the manufacturer and Readi-Cat 2 barium sulfate suspension has several flavors. The flavor given out automaticly is vanilla and it is not gluten free. The other flavors are gluten... -

I've been misdiagnosed for almost a year now, and I thought that the unbearable pain was never gonna go away. But five members of my family also have celiac's and after telling them all...

ARCHIVED Eye Troubles
Yellow Rose replied to BRS-07's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Could be Chronic Blepharitis. It is a mild eye irritation. Characterized by slight redness, itching and burning, and small, white crusts that form at the base of the lashes. It is caused by excessive oily secretions on the eyelid margins and may be worsened by bacteria around the roots of the eyelashes. It is not contagious or painful. To control clean... -

Yellow Rose replied to Amyleigh0007's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had a child with JRA and worked for the school dist in the special ed dept. We 504 her and this is how it works. You need to request a 504 meeting in writing. The school has 30 days to have the meeting. You will need to have a Dr. note stating that your child has Celiac and at the meeting you will need to ask that the child be placed in 504 as other... -

Quote: major contributor to my fibromyalgia Have you looked into the Guaifensen protocol for your fibro. It (fibro) is a major contributor to restless legs. In the meantime until you can get it under control try this it does help mainly because it distracts your mind and helps relax your legs. Get a cotton sock and fill it with rice. Tie a knot at... -

Yellow Rose replied to leadmeastray88's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have been using cherries. They have seratonin in them. I find them in the frozen fruit section. I started by eating at least a cup a day usually about an hour before I want to fall asleep. After a couple of weeks I was able to eat them every other day but have found if I miss more than 2 days I will be up until 3 or 4 in the morning. My insomina was... -

Yellow Rose replied to Cath724's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I live in a tiny town and I have found a couple of options. If I eat at the steak place I have the salad bar and bring my own dressing in my purse. They don't care at all. Steak and baked potatoes are great as long as I tell them to leave the Texas Toast off the plate. At the local mexican food place I can have nachos, and at the BBQ place I can have... -

Remember to also avoid paprika, cayenne, and most brands of curry powder. Rice Guy, Why avoid these? I was led to believe they were anti-inflamatory. -
I came back from a 4 day retreat and wasn't glutened. Amazing, I am still overwhelmed by all the concern everyone took making sure I wasn't glutened. The cooking team had me look over every ingrediant even the spices before they fixed the meals and checked the menu with me as well. All my meals were cooked in seperate pans and they made sure to keep the...

Yellow Rose replied to samcarter's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Two weeks ago I went to an all day training that included lunch. I asked what lunch was and was told oh we just order a box sandwich lunch from the deli. I told the woman I can't eat wheat and she offered to get me a salad. I asked for the dressing to be put on the side and no crutons. I was starving by the time lunch came around. Of course there was... -

Yellow Rose replied to MarsupialMama's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I thought it was just me. Nice to know I am not going crazy. My hair completely changed about 6 months after going gluten free. It is very wavy now and was straight before. My hair stylist was the first to notice this and asked what was up with my hair. She had been cutting it the same way for years and suddenly I had places that would not lay down at... -
ARCHIVED Day 2 Gluten Free - Overwhelmed At The Grocery Store
Yellow Rose replied to bdeanjon's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
We have all been where you are and it is overwhelming at first. But hang in there because it does get better. You realize after a while that there are lots of things you can eat that are gluten free just not what you might have been used to. Packaged foods and convience foods are pretty much out unless you can find a store that has gluten free foods. ... -
I was getting those raspberries all the time and my Dr. put me on Vit D 50000 ut once every two weeks and Folic Acid 1mg twice a day and Vit C 500mg once a day and they have dissappeared. My brusies are finally going away as well and my skin is not peeling at the slightest bump and is thickening up. I have been taking them for 3 months now.
