ARCHIVED Title On An E-mail
Ridgewalker replied to imsohungry's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
OMG. If my car could e-mail me, I'd never hear the end of it. I need this, I need that, why haven't you done this for me yet, do you think I can live forever? And what is UP with those kids!? Have you SEEN what they've done to me!? -

Ooh, and Mango pooped in! I see you! I forgot to say something, now what was it... maybe it was a couple things. Emily, I wanted to tell you I was thinking about your dad a lot this afternoon. Just kept popping into my head at odd moments. Hope he's doing well. Tell him that we love him! Oh, and I read a saying in a book yesterday that... -

You said besmirch! I looooove that word. Re: the orchard..... WHAT is their tree-killing-problem!? You should file a ground breaking lawsuit because they are sucking all the air and beauty-calm-producing-life out of your environment. Alex... I am so happy that your brother got a diagnosis! Of course we don't wish this disease on anyone, but thank... -

I recently read an awesome saying that I've been just dying to work into a conversation. It seems to fit your situation perfectly. Next time, tell him-- "Don't pee on my head and tell me it's raining!" If you really say this, you must come back and tell us his reaction! -
ARCHIVED Aghhhhhh! Gas Prices
Ridgewalker replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Amanda, I remember that, too! I started driving about 13 years ago, and it was about 88, 89 cents. So that's an increase of what, 250% or something? Insane. It now costs me 65-70 bucks a week just to get my kids to school and back home, and do my shopping (which I always do very efficiently.) NC has the highest state gas tax in our region- 2-... -

Thanks Bev and Alex. I think things will get much better when Spring sets in. I've said many times that there should be a nice safe sedative for little kids that you can use for when the Mom gets sick. Thank God it's almost Friday!!! -

Loooordy, it just keeps gettin' better. Ezra actually is feeling a lot better, but I finally had to drag my arse to the doctor today. I have a doozy of a sinus infection this time. Amoxacillin at double the dose she normally has me take, plus steroids because my throat is so inflamed I can barely swallow liquid, nasal spray.... oh yeah, and I have pink... -

Oh... mah... gah... this makes me sooooooo mad. She sounds like one of those WRETCHED girls I went to school with who can't stand to have attention away from herself. She always has to say something that really shrieks, "Look at me, look at me!" It was a snotty thing to to say Amanda, but try not to take it too personally. With people like that, it... -

Emily, I'll be thinking of you and your parents. Susie, I'm so very sorry to here about the troubles with your friend. I don't know what's behind it, but I hope there's a chance to work things out! (((HUGS))) to everyone. -

Ridgewalker replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I soooooo agree!!! I've never particularly liked him, but he ROCKED OUT last night! I also loved Carly and Amanda. Howevah... I know there's a lot of Kristy fans out there, and normally I'm not a hater, BUT... what she did to Eight Days a Week made me throw up in my mouth. It was like a hoedown took The Beatles hostage, and then popped some... -

ARCHIVED High School Dropout
Ridgewalker replied to norcalballa23's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Norcalballa, I eventually dropped out of school too. Combine fatigue and chronic diarrhea with the fact that I was shy as a child, and I was misdiagnosed at the age of 12 with Social Anxiety Disorder. Psychiatrists, phsychologists, medication... nothing really helped. I have developed ongoing problems with depression. It's only been in the past... -

ARCHIVED Omg! There's A Pf Chang's In Greensboro!
Ridgewalker posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Ok, for almost a year now, I've been hearing you all talk about PF Chang's, and sitting here jealous. We live in a very rural area of NC, and I knew there wasn't one in Winston-Salem, the city I usually go to. But I just found out that there's one in WS's sister city, Greensboro!!! I never go to Gboro, I hate that city, but my husband works there and knows... -
Oh wow, there is actually an O'Charley's not far from me! We'll have to check it out!

ARCHIVED Dealing With Schools
Ridgewalker replied to ryebaby0's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
1. Does your child have a formal IEP, or 504 -- and BRIEFLY what accomodations have you asked for? No 2. If you have an informal arrangement in your school, was it initiated by you, or the school? Yes, by me. 3. Who did you contact when your child started school -- the teacher, the principal, or someone else? For Luke: Principal first, since I wanted... -
ARCHIVED Buying Flours At Asian Food Market
Ridgewalker replied to celiac-mommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've really been wanting to check out the flour possibilities at an Asian market too! I've only found one within an hour drive of me... rural NC ya know. Hispanic stores on every corner, though- I have no idea if they'd have anything useful. Anyway, I haven't checked out the store I found yet because of the language barrier. Yeah, basically I'm a big... -
ARCHIVED Transitioning...
Ridgewalker replied to stolly's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This sounds about par for the course. My older son was 6 when we put him on the gluten-free diet, and I swear he ate nothing but carrots, peanut butter, fruit, and cheese for a week. Fruit, homemade bread, and cheese isn't a bad start! Will she eat different types of fruits? Applesauce, grapes, peaches, strawberries, bananas-- all have different nutrients...
