  1. Hi there! To sum up... your son is borderline anemic, borderline malabsorption, severe constipation that resolved on a gluten-free diet, AND he tested positive for at least one Celiac gene. The chances that he has Celiac are almost 100%, regardless of what the blood test reported. You are also right in thinking that a scope should have been done...
  2. PS- there's some really good info and links on shopping and labels on this thread: Open Original Shared Link
  3. Thanks for the heads up. Wal-mart's Great Value brand lunch meat is also labeled gluten-free, if it is.
  4. Wow, I didn't know so many have reacted to Utz! That's almost all I buy these days. Are the homestyle and kettle cooked types the only one people seem to react to? I've only gotten those a couple times. None of us have reacted to Utz so far. I usually get the ridged reduced fat, and the sour cream and onion. I've also gotten a couple different styles of their...
  5. Oooh yeah, how could I forget pepperoni!? Yum. I like pepperoni and sharp cheddar cheese. Or pepperoni and colby jack. Or pepperoni and pepperoni! lol
  6. I agree with everything Jenny said. We used to do Frito-Lay products, but I finally had to nix them. There is simply too much CC at their factories. I almost never buy their stuff anymore, because it's just a big fat risk. And the pure maple syrup is guaranteed safe- it's virtually impossible to get straight answers on other types. Having said that......
  7. I also like Thai kitchen products- not all of them are gluten-free, but the ones that are, are labeled on the back. I eat a lot of their soup bowls for lunches. Wal-mart also labels their Great Value brand products, if they are gluten-free. A lot of their sandwich meat is labeled gluten-free. It's not the most gourmet sandwich meat, but it's not bad and...
  8. Morning Amanda... how are you feeling today? I'm thinking Ezra and I are going to have to go back to the doc. We went Monday last week, and were diagnosed with the flu, but both of us are still coughing and now gagging up mucous like mad... Dual sinus infections, anyone? Come on Spring, hurry up and GET HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. (((hugs))) My thoughts are with you.
  10. Wal-mart's Great Value brand soy sauce is also gluten-free. Fatcat, I kind of know what you mean about getting used to running to the bathroom. My problems came on gradually, and slowly worsened over the years. As a teen, I thought I just had a "nervous stomach." After the birth of my second child, it got worse... and worse... but I didn't really notice...
  11. Rachel, This was really interesting. Some of the symptoms really jumped out at me: sleep issues, aggression, tantrums, etc.... make me think of my four-yr-old. He's not autism spectrum, but our doctor has said that he has "bipolar tendencies." A lot of his problems have improved dramatically since going gluten-free, but there are still daily issues......
  12. Regarding hamburger bun pans, last fall I bought a muffin top pan on JennyC's recommendation and I really love it. It makes perfect sized buns. This is the one I bought: ............ I hope that link works. It's by Cuisinart, makes 6 buns at a time, and was only 15 bucks. Extremely well-spent money! I need to get another one, because I always have dough...
  13. That sounds about right! At our place, years ago, you add in my grandma- who would refuse to come outside while there were fireworks... shouting from the kitchen window the story about her uncle, the piano player, who blew all his fingers off of one hand with fireworks, and you're all gonna blow your hands off ya damn fools! *sigh* I miss my gram. Man, could...
  14. Hey Jin. Battling flu right now. I'll be back in later tho. Have some more candida questions for you guys. My mom's been backsliding pretty badly.
  15. Hey Janet and Patti. Yeah, I saw that Tom has the crown... hopefully his reign will be healthier than mine was! As for the million dollar question... As it was put, there seems to be no restriction on shades of green, so I say Yes, I would absolutely wear green for the rest of my life for a million dollars. (That's a million, tax free, right...
  16. Sorry, sorry, oh lordy I am one sorry chick lately. DUAL sinus infections-- both kids have sinus infections now. How many days left till Spring?!?!??! I just watched Bridget Jones' Diary for the tenth time... Colin Firth... suddenly becomes god-like toward the end... I melted into a puddle on the floor, and immediately thought of you guys. Had to share...
  17. I have been hearing really good things about the Neti Pot from relatives suggesting it to me for my own sinus problems. I do know from personal experience that teeth can affect sinuses and vice versa. (Of course, it's not ALWAYS the case-- as Patti mentioned that it didn't affect her that way at all.) But I have had a bad tooth cause sinus pain, and I...
  18. OMG I just thought a Janet's-last-name-guess that is soooo good, I'm not even gonna post it. I'm gonna go PM her and find out if I'm close.
  19. I just voted again and we're ahead by 3%. This could be sooo good for Celiac publicity. Since Celiac is so horribly underdiagnosed, I would hope that they'd have occasional articles ABOUT the disease, along with allergen-free recipes. I also think it will be HILARIOUS if Martha Stewart puts out a magazine about food intolerances after her daughter was...
  20. Oh, COOL! I luuuuuurve sci-fi. You know, I think my dad has one of his books, I'll have to go borrow it.
  21. Ohh, ok.... well now you may be starting a guessing game by saying something that tantalizing! Yep, Brian's good for that. Speaking of whom, he sure is pharting a lot tonight, and lemme tell ya they are BAD. I can't wait, I love your pics!
  22. Oh I can handle it. I can TOTALLY handle it! Look, see, I'm going back to take another look right now! (Muttering while walking away: I can handle the poop, oh yesseree bob... I'm no sissy, nuh uh... I can handle the poop...)
