  1. (((Hugs))) I know the thread founder isn't here to consult, I do believe that Sillyville has evolved into a place where we are also all welcome to rant, rave, and vent as needed!!! Friends are here for the ups AND the downs! I don't think anybody should feel the need to apologize for the downs. Who needs guilt on top of everything!?!?!?!
  2. Terrible! I have been doing just terrible! (Which means that I've been smoking a lot.) So I said the hell with this crap, and went and got some Nicoderm patches this afternoon. Now armed with patches and super-mega-size packs of Wrigley's gum, I expect to be able to report something closer to success shortly! I'm pretty determined for this to work...
  3. Susie! I must ask one crucial question! What antibiotic was this??????????
  4. Well, one thing we must remember is that Celiac Disease itself cannot be seen. Only the affects of it can be seen. The biopsy looks for damage to the villi in the small intestine. In my mind, that damage is a "symptom" of celiac disease. It causes more symptoms, but it still isn't the disease itself. Eventually any Celiac who is not on a gluten-free...
  5. I find that if I take my bread out of the oven too soon, it caves in on the sides... could this be the problem? I haven't had the top-sinking problem with a whole loaf before, but I have had that happen with hamburger buns. Through much trial and error, I've discovered that this happens to me for two reasons-- 1) I didn't let them rise long enough...
  6. Hi Barb, I'd recommend making your own flour blends, for two reasons: 1) It's almost always cheaper. 2) You probably like different blends for different recipes/products. For example, I like a little bean flour in the blend for chocolate chip cookies, but absolutely HATE it for sandwich bread. I like sorghum flour in the blend for yeast breads...
  7. Yeah, we (my family) all have various symptoms. My oldest son, my mom, and myself all get diarrhea and stomach pains, but my youngest doesn't. So far, he doesn't get GI symptoms much at all- his are neuro symptoms. My mother and I vomit, but my kids don't. I'm the only one that gets bad heartburn as a symptom... unless you count my brother...
  8. Patti, our anniversaries are only 4 days apart! Brian's and my 8th anniversary is tomorrow. Yup, we got married on April Fool's Day. (I was destined to end up here with the sillies eventually. ) Weelllll, I did smoke a few cigarettes today. But only like a quarter of what what I normally would, if not less. Still working on it. Welcome back...
  9. Thanks!! Tomorrow is the big quit smoking day. (I've decided to wait a week or so before I worry about the dairy thing.) Wish me luck!
  10. The celiacS thing gets on my nerves waaaaaay more than it probably should, too- which is why I keep my mouf shut! Oh you have celiacs? How many do you have? Where do they all sleep, and do you have enough gluten-free bread for them all? Fire update-- No flames visible on my side of the mountain tonight!!! Yay! (Although it did look reeeeally wicked...
  11.  That made me laugh out loud. *giggle* I, personally, use the word "shat" every chance I get.
  12. Yeah, there really is a Mt. Airy! Or, as I like to call it, Mt.-Airy-Home-of-Andy-Griffith-Ain't-We-Somebody. Well, that's one version of what I call it. Some of us who live just outside of Mt. Airy are of the opinion that Mt. Airians have a little bit of a 'tude. Also, they are all crazy drivers, and everything is just a tad bit more expensive...
  13. Tom, I loooooove how you're always going out to see live music. There's nowhere around here that HAS live music. Well, I take that back... there actually are a couple coffee shops in Mt. Airy that have live music sometimes. I need to get out more, sigh.
  14. Sitting around on Friday night, chatting with friends... The only thing that could make it better is if we were all at that chalet in France.... with several bottles of wine.
  15. That poor toaster poster shall live on forever in infamy. At least in our little kingdom! Amanda, I think babysitting Landen is going to work out really well for you guys. I'll be thinking about your dad! Is Sabrina going back to her birth mother for a visit, or permanently?
  16. Phecal matter on the remotes!?!?!?! Oh... mah... GAH!!! AND fluids on the bedspread! We neeeeeeeeeeeeed that green-barfy-guy emoticon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Queen Jess, did it again, wooooooooooo!
  17. I have been eating a plethora of Hershey's candies this week, and I can tell you I have been having a mild reaction to one (or more) of them. To me, that means some diarrhea and cramps, a little heartburn. No severe heartburn or vomitting. I really have no way of knowing which candy I'm reacting to but I'm convinced it was Hershey something.
  18. Susie, I see you! Speak her name, and she shall appear!
  19. Omg, where's Susie?! There's a SPAMMER over in "Other Food Intolerances and Leaky Gut Issues." Sic 'em Susie!!!!!!! What kind of lame-ass posts advertisements in a Leaky Gut forum, anyway?
  20. I don't get it! He asks what would help your frustration... instead of asking her to curb her surfing! Something about that is bizarre. Yeah, at least she's far away now, at The Crappy Desk.
  21. Dude, that was so not me! Those crazy uncomfortable film strips were seared into my brain, forever and ever, Amen. Junior High should be illegal. GAH!!!! Good one! Well, they'd gotten the fire pretty much put out on our side, but now it's cresting the top and trying to come back over again. We've got a 20% chance of rain...
  22. Quickie update... They've made huge progress on the fire this afternoon, and although it's still burning, it definitely looks like the worst is over!
  23. Scat sculpture.... Thank God Ezra can't read yet.
