  1. First of all, I definitely wouldn't give the baby those crackers again. Maybe note down the ingredients, so that if he shows that reaction with another food, you can cross reference the ingredients and figure out what caused it. For your almost 4 year old... does he eat any other dairy products? I personally think the milk is more likely the culprit than...
  2. Thanks, guys! Thank goodness the principle at his current school much better. When I went in to speak to her before the school year started, she immediately knew and understood what I was talking about-- her cousin is Celiac. I'm not crazy about his lead teacher... Every time I try to have a conversation with her, she has this utterly blank look on...
  3. Unnnghhh.... so... tired... Up all night with Luke, who is feeling like major crap. Either a sudden bout of allergies, or a nasty virus on top of everything. All night. No sleep. I hate that. Gawd, I'm the first one here this morning. Totally stressing about how much school the kids miss. I always feel guilty when I keep them home! Like...
  4. WOOOHOOO!!! Fantastic, Patti!!! Bev, ugh sorry about the heinosity with your PICC line.
  5. I'd better start writing down these jury-avoidance methods! Well, both of the kids were home yesterday and today with glutenings. Ezra actually had a GI reaction this time. Sigh. When I was doing all that cleaning last week, I found a couple can of spaghetti sauce stuck back in a corner. I dusted them off, checked the date, and threw them in...
  6. Chunky poop! With no health benefits! I don't think I've done the skirt in tights thing.... I have, however, split the butt in a pair of jeans in public.
  7. Spaghetti is a good idea. Make sure you check the sauce companies' websites to check which varieties are gluten-free. I do recommend making the gluten-free pasta first, and then the wheat pasta. Every time I try to make both on the stove at the same time, glutenings end up happening. I think it's just impossible to keep the gluteny pasta water from splashing...
  8. OMG! OMG! Brian is sooo getting one of these for Father's Day or something. He always goes to bed earlier than I do, and every night when I lay down in bed, about 30 seconds later he pharts. Every night! I told him about this one day and demanded an explanation. He claims that he doesn't sleep as well when I'm not in the bed. So when I come to bed,...
  9. Welcome to the forum! I'm no doctor-- but to me, the fact that you and your daughter BOTH have symptoms make it more likely that you both have Celiac. It's much more hereditary than official studies show. I'm glad that you decided to go gluten-free no matter what the biopsy shows. It sounds like your gastro doc knows his stuff, but even when taking...
  10. Thank you!!! I know, I can't keep away from a discussion like this. I'm glad the event went well!!! I can't do public speaking. At all. Ever. Well, maybe if they let me talk about poo. Yeah, seriously. I can't handle that-- too gross.
  11. Only with the proper incentive, my friends! Ok you guys are going to hate me for this, but-- Yes, it totally matters what was eaten! Think about it... corn? I would find it much easier to down a smooth homogeneous poop, than one that was... chunky. Ok, you can all throw up on me now.
  12. See, that's what I'm saying! "guaranteed perfect health." Perfect health means perfect body-fat percentage, guaranteed, for life! Am I right, Em??? (Wondering if I'm too eager to eat poo........ NAH!)
  13. True... I don't think Brian would ever kiss me again, perfect body-fat % or no. Weak stomach. Hmm.... I'd do it anyway! You know... I never got in on the feet/butt face conversation because it was too freaky-gross. This one though, is doable. So glad that Son of Silly had such a good time!!!
  14. Carol, I know it can seem incredibly overwhelming at first. You're doing a great job! Just realize that mistakes will probably be made at first... if they do, take a breath and move on. Every single person here went through, or is going through, a period of adjustment and learning. I've been doing this for a year now, and it gets much, much easier......
  15. Ok... PERFECT health? No more sinus infections or allergies? No more worrying about blood pressure or lung cancer? No more Celiac and I can eat whatever I wa.... wait a minute. Perfect body fat percentage??? I would totally eat a piece of poop. Happily! With a sh!t-eating grin on my face! Serve it up with a knife and fork, baby I'll take one...
  16. Ok, this makes me feel a lot better about the possibility. Thinking about it, a diuretic would make sense too-- I've had nearly constant edema in my feet and legs for months now... warning sign, maybe? I dunno... Though I shudder to think what a diuretic would do to my bathroom habits. I already have to pee every hour. No exaggeration. Anyway...
  17. I love The Stand, I reread it every summer. Just goes to show how tastes can differ... Yeah, Heinlein was brilliant. Which one was Tunnel in the Sky? I'm sure I've read that one, I know that title... The Talisman is one of the very few Stephen King books I couldn't get into. I need to pick it up and try it out again. His Dark Tower series...
  18. I'm currently reading The Cat Who Walks Through Walls, by Robert Heinlein. I love Heinlein. My favorite of his so far (I haven't read them all yet) is Starship Troopers. It's NOTHING like the movie whatsoever. 2nd fave would be Stranger in a Strange Land. I also love anything by: Amy Tan, literary fiction Stephen King, horror Anne McCaffrey, Generally...
  19. Patti, what are the blood pressure meds like? Or are there a bunch, and they're all different...? I had a consult with my doc yesterday over the phone, and I told her mine hadn't gone down much. She gave me two more weeks for my numbers to go down, or I'll probably have to go on meds. At age not-quite-30. What does this mean??? I just don't know...
  20. I'm with Amanda, all I got to say is TGIF!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Just pooping in. I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off, trying to get my house cleaned. Ezra's b-day party is Saturday. My baby's turning 5! But my house is gross. I've been sick so much... and frankly, even when I'm not, I'm not reeeeally Miss My-House-Must-Be-Spotless-At-All-Times. But I'm trying to clean the grody bits, at least...
  22. I used the word "yetis" in an online Scrabble game with my best friend last night.
  23. I'm trying to catch up a little, but my mind is here and there... I am feeling better than last week though, that's for sure. I wanted to mention before I forget though, Patti-- I agree with Laura, Bradford Pears are beautiful-- but they are a pain in the butt. I have 6, and one of them (the female?) sends out volunteers 9 months out of the year...
  24. Correction-- it's not Visterin, It's called Vistaril.
