ARCHIVED New Here With Questions

First of all, Welcome to the forum! I was wondering how old your son is? False negatives are more common than most Drs would have you believe, and the number gets even higher when you're talking about small children. It sounds like your guy has a lot to deal with, but I think you're on the right track with the gluten-free diet! Click here for a few helpful... -

I thought we'd be hearing something, but no. They want her to come in Thursday to have her stitches removed (they took slices instead of a punch biopsy this time,) and I think we'll get the results then. I've got to see if my MIL can watch the boys so I can go with Mom. I made a corn and black bean salad to go with dinner tonight, and it turned... -

ARCHIVED L-glutamine
Ridgewalker replied to Emme999's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
This is an old thread from 2005, and a lot of the people in it don't post anymore. But I'm pretty sure that was some kind of typo! L-glutamine has helped a lot of people. -

Ridgewalker replied to Ursa Major's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Ohh, the poor, sweet baby! This is the age where they really get into playing outside, and the poor thing is going to miss 1/2 of her summer. I agree, I've never seen a child that age be able to focus enough to color like that! She's going to be a smart cookie. -

Ookaaayy, so the kids and I went to the doctor today because Lucas has a nasty cough that doesn't want to quit. He saw a P.A, who said it looks like a sinus infection, and she gave us Rxes for abx and a strong cough medicine. I gave him a dose of the cough med a little bit ago, and it's working really well! So then I asked the nurse if she'd gotten... -

Bev, somehow I KNEW you'd be right there with me on that one! And the PICC line! How unbelievably unfair to get an infection while getting IV abx!!! How is it even possible?! I've got an idea, we'll start a "whinery!" Now, how do we charge for that..? I love you, Patti. Ok, so if anyone denies us needful meds, we'll sic Patti on their ass... -

Symptoms vary by person quite a bit. Try googling "candida infection mouth" or something along those lines. I'll also look at some websites I have bookmarked, and get back to you tonight. -

I've seen this link once or twice on the forum already, but I decided it deserves a thread of its own because it just rocks that much! This woman's 2008 New Year's resolution was to use the CrockPot every single day for a year, no repeats-- and her family is gluten-free! She does a lot of experimental stuff, and I've found tons of thing I want to try... -

Cool, I will do that. I originally found the link somewhere here, but it was kinda burried in a thread about another topic, so I'll start a new thread about her. She's got some great stuff, and she's phunny. -

If the problem stays gone, that's awesome- but if it comes back, I would suspect a candida infection. Just something to keep in mine IF it comes back. -

Good Morning, Sillies! Well, I'm not feeling so whiny today! I guess yesterday was my allotted Whiny Day, and I'm over it now. Sorry. I checked out the most FABULOUS blog! I hope it's ok to post the address, since it's not mine? Let me know if I need to remove it. Open Original Shared Link This chick has vowed to use the crockpot every single day... -

Well... I'm tired, and cranky, and my stomach is hurting and bloated because I just ate waaaaaayyyyy too much Rice Chex, and I'm worried and depressed because Mom said she thinks the boys have a dairy intolerance (more about that some other time,) and of course I'm still worried about Mom (we should have results sometime early this coming week,) and frankly... -

Warning: insane, rambling RANT ahead... Well, the back pain is getting worse. Called the doctor for stronger pain pills and some prednisone, which usually helps resolve the swelling and inflammation when my back gets bad like this. Doctor may or may not call in an Rx, guess I'll find out in the morning. (I left a message on her line, hope to hear back... -

ARCHIVED What Types Of Cancer Does Gluten Cause?
Ridgewalker replied to Aleshia's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I understand your wondering, though. My mom's dad died of esophageal cancer, which was caused by years of untreated heartburn and acid reflux-- which are two symptoms I get right off the bat when I've been glutened. Was his problem actually untreated Celiac? In this case, I think the evidence piles up to a Yes answer. I inherited it from my mom... and I believe... -

Asian grocery stores. If you have one anywhere near you, that is. Trying to buy them online will cost you an arm and a leg, and then shipping costs on top of that. At my Asian grocery, they're 1.19 a pack. They have rice based ones and tapioca based ones. -

ARCHIVED Chicken Bouillon Cubes
Ridgewalker replied to Amanda C.'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I particularly like to put the chicken ones in boiling potatoes, and the beef ones in green beans! It's much healthier than dumping in salt and butter. I've used them in rice, too, but I never would have thought of eggs. -

Yup, my stomach is feeling ok today. My back is being a complete BIOTCH, though. It was already bothering me, and stomach issues (particularly marathon toilet sessions, i.e. poopathons) kill my back. So I'm on the handy dandy ole muskle relaxers today. Patti, let me know how you like the papaya pills. Remember to chew them, instead of swallowing whole... -

I second the HerbOx recommendation. They have a good flavor, and don't have a lot of extra junk, either. -

OK something weird happened last night. I've been really fatigued the past couple days, and went to bed early, around 10 o'clock. I woke up at midnight on the dot, and FLEW out of bed to the bathroom. What occurred next, you don't need details of, but it involved a lot of doubled-over-groaning-abdominal-pain. WTH? I haven't eaten anything risky that I can... -

The biggest time saver I've found is to make up mixes ahead of time, and I keep them in labeled ziploc bags. I usually have sandwich bread, corn bread, chocolate cupcake, and pizza crust mixes ready to go at all times. I usually make these mixes on Sundays. This doesn't take a lot of keeping up with or organization. Just make your mixes on Sundays. Do... -

I don't slur, but I do stutter when I get glutened. Never happened before going gluten-free, but does happen now when I get glutened.
