  1. Welllll.... I'm back from the doctor. My doctor is awesome, I don't know what I'd do without her. She normally closes at 5, but they made my appt for 5-- and she stayed and talked to me for so long, I never felt rushed, and I knew she was listening to every word I said. I didn't get out of there till almost 6. She really is great. Don't know where to...
  2. A whole month in the hospital, plus 2 heart surgeries? You're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars. When something devastating like that happens to someone here with no insurance... They're going to lose their house and probably have to declare bankruptcy. With a bankruptcy on your credit report, you can't get a loan, can't get a car, many landlords won...
  3. Straight up-- They can't. People in this country die every day because they can't afford medical care. This is absolutely, horrifyingly true. Hell, I should have had back surgery after Ezra was born, but couldn't afford it. 20,000 dollars? Out of the question. My friend has a one year old, and is still making payments to the hospital on the...
  4. Well there've been more than a few BAD WORDS and tears over here this afternoon. My auto insurance was late, so I called today to pay it, and they said I had to pay March AND April to avoid cancellation... Even though April's payment isn't DUE until the end of the month. I had to go ahead and pay it. Which took my doctor money. BUT it's ok. After I got...
  5. OMG Janet!!! I heard about it on the news this morning, and wondered if any Sillies were in the affected area. I've never been in an earthquake. Did you have any damage? Everybody ok? That would've scared the crap outta me!!!
  6. Hey all, just popping in real quick. The kids are being pretty good today, which is a relief. I called the dr. and made an appt. for tomorrow. I told the receptionist that I had a few things going on, and it was going to take more than 5 minutes. So she gave me the last appt. of the day, at 5pm. So I'm going to see if I can get someone to watch the boys for...
  7. Thank you so much, you guys. I can't tell you how much it helps to be able to talk to you all about these things. Writing it out-- and knowing that people who care will read it-- actually helped stop me from going into a full-blown sobbing panic attack. It's winding down a little now. I cannot spiral down into a depression. I've been there before, but...
  8. Hi guys... I'm not doing so good. I need to write about it for a minute. Maybe it'll help. I hope my mom doesn't see this. She comes here every once in a blue moon, but I don't think she's ever been in Sillyville. You guys know I've been under a bit of stress lately... and yesterday afternoon was kind of that last straw I think. One of my best friends...
  9. It really sounds to me like a glutening. I really know where you're coming from- it's so hard to tell when the main symptom, or only symptom, is behavioral/emotional. I'm in the same boat with my younger son. Sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up and screaming, "I just don't know what's going on anymore!!!" It's so much easier to tell with my older son...
  10. After I took Lucas into his first day of preschool, I went out to the car a sobbed like crazy. Then I sat in the parking lot for an hour before I could make myself leave. It was only slightly less hideous when it came to Ezra's first day. BTW Susie, my maternal grandmother was just about your age, maybe a year older, when she had her last child.
  11. GAH! Maybe I need to see a hypnotherapist.
  12. Ok, I'm putting a patch on tomorrow morning!!! (Haven't been using one since I've been still smoking a little.) That's a good answer! I'm stealing that. I think my mom has that book. I'll see if I can borrow it. No coughing attacks, tonight, thank goodness. That was hideous! SUSIE! You got a MySpace page!!! I sent you an Add Friend...
  13. Thanks everybody. Maybe I need a sinus transplant. Nah.... I still haven't been able to cut cigarettes out completely, although I cut waaaay back. I guess I just need to keep trying harder. This headache is miserable. I had a coughing spasm last night that was the worst thing.... Omg, my throat seized up and I couldn't breathe at all for (what felt like...
  14. What I want to know is, how strong are these suction cups? Ok, we can't be Spiderman, but would I have to jerk on my foot with each step? Forget that! I'd go with the cleats. My sinus infection is back, worse than ever. I thought the doxy had it licked, but it's back. Going to call the doc for a refill. I don't know what else to do... The only...
  15. Welcome to the forum! This is totally bizarre. Like you and others have said, casein IS milk protein. Lactose is milk sugar. What the allergist said makes no sense whatsoever. If she showed an allergic reaction to casein, then I wouldn't let her have any dairy products. I don't know about you, but if it were me, I'd confront the allergist about...
  16. Thanks for the well-wishes and everything, you guys! Nobody woke up this morning with a locked-up neck or back, so it looks like Ezra's brush burn was the only injury. Thank goodness. Janet, welcome back! Love the new av, you guys are so lucky getting to meet up! Nikki, I was thinking about Alan this evening. I hope he's having a great time!!! ...
  17. Thanks Amanda! I will def keep an eye on him... even more. I'll update you guys tomorrow!
  18. :o :o :o :o I've never thought of this!!! This really makes me wonder.
  19. I don't think this is as unusual as is commonly thought. My mother was officially diagnosed (blood test, biopsy, and genetically.) Both of my sons and myself were home diagnosed, but with no doubts and with the agreement of our family doctor. I also believe my only sibling has it, but he refuses to be tested or try the diet. I loooove the Knorr...
  20. So far, we have no had any problems with York peppermint patties. They're one of our (my boys' and my) favorite things. As Momma Goose said, don't trust Hershey's just because the ingredients "look ok." But so far, the peppermint patties are ok for us.
  21. That attitude stinks! A good doctor trusts a mother's intuition! At least she will order the test. A couple points to remember: 1) Sometimes when doctors are simply ordering the test to "humor" someone, they only order one test, instead of the full Celiac panel. Make sure you get the full panel of tests! 2) Remember that blood tests have a significant...
  22. True. Here's a recipe I recently found though. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds great. Sparkly Hard Lemonade 1 can frozen lemonade concentrate 2
