  1. Oh my, you are newlyweds, aren't you? That phrase you uttered may evolve over time...
  2. Paula, where do you live? We're all coming over!
  3. Oh yeah, he'll come back to Nikki asking her to pull his finger... asking if he can borrow a couple bucks... if he stays in NC long, he'll be wanting grits and gravy for breakfast... and he'll greet her with, "Hey Ya'll! I had a good ole time over yonder!"
  4. BTW--- I am TOTALLY having a dragged-through-a-hedge-backwards hair day today!!! Over the weekend, though I decided to do a little mini-makeover. I trimmed my hair, did a pore cleaning mask, and colored my hair (natural brown... it had turned a little brassy at the ends.) So Sunday morning, I fixed my hair and got ready for Mass, and came out into...
  5. If we can "scale" that Yeti down, maybe he can come by our house for a couple days! In fact, scale him down far enough, and I'll hang him on the tree next to the Bumble ornament!
  6. I live just a few hours from Momma Goose and we're having the same weather. *sigh* My plants are trying to sprout up, too. We watched Christmas movies in shorts yesterday afternoon!
  7. As far as the worsening symptoms go... We put my 4 year old son on a gluten-free diet in October, and his symptoms not only worsened, but he got new ones. For just over a week, things were wretched! But then, he started getting better... and better... He's doing VERY well now, better than ever. I do think that some people will go through this....
  8. My family has a kind of long reaction time. For Lucas, it takes 12-36 hours for a CC issue. For me, with my challenges, I've noticed that wheat only takes a few hours, while barley takes about 24 hours. CC wheat (a smaller amount) takes about 24 hours. My mom takes a shorter time, generally within just a few hours even if it's only the tiniest CC...
  9. Yay!!!!!!!! What an incredible relief!!! OH GOOD GOD!!! *faint* I know it probably doesn't feel like it right now, but you are one lucky girl! (((Hugs!)))
  10. I agree with Ursa... This is a treat FOR you and your hubby. (Happy Early Anniversary!) Your friends are going to want the restaurant to be someplace where you can have an enjoyable experience. Having dietary restrictions does not make you a stick in the mud!!! No one would expect to serve PB&J sandwiches to someone with a peanut allergy. It's just...
  11. EGADS! Sooo sorry about the strep.  But this cracked me up!!! Possibly more than it should have... Well apparently, our Christmas cookies got contaminated at the decorating party, despite best efforts. Over the weekend, Lucas and I have been blowing up the potties, and Ezra has been out of control. Maybe next year...
  12. Carla, What wonderful news, for both you and your daughter! Very exciting!
  13. I'm sorry Emily! It's grEy here too right now, with very thick fog. Should burn off soon though, as it's supposed to get up to 76 F today! No white Christmas this year... *sigh*. I do remember we had one white Christmas since we moved down south. That was back in the mid 90s. It snowed on Christmas Eve... seemed like magic!
  14. I'm not sure about the pudding question, but I got a recipe from someone on here that we're in love with. I can't remember who posted it, sorry, I'm awful about that. But it doesn't call for pudding, and turned out great! They tasted like regular sugar cookies even before we frosted and decorated them. I think the ticket is using real butter. Butter...
  15. You need to be just as careful as if you were diagnosed with Celiac. Gluten sensitivity isn't less serious than Celiac. It can come with all the same damage and long term problems.
  16. Quick update on my mom... She's been taking that swish-and-swallow probiotic (Magic Mouth) for over a week now, and has seen only a tiny bit of improvement. On top of that, she's developed a female type yeast infection. She also realized that her nausea worsened in conjunction with the burning mouth and throat symptoms. I told her it sounds to...
  17. A Very Merry Un-Birthday To You, Susie Q!!!
  18. Scottish and Irish accents are INFINITELY swoonable!
  19. Wow, good one!!! I love hearing about people's bargain finds!
  20. WOOHOO for retail therapy! YES! I'm making a trip to Tar-jay tomorrow morning, in search of Legos and Transformer bedsheets! I made some gluten-free sugar cookies last night, first time. They turned out GREAT, just like regular! (whew!) They even taste great with no frosting. The boys and I are taking them to a friend's house this afternoon for...
  21. Mine does that sometimes. If I just leave it alone, it runs a self-diagnostic thingy and fixes itself! Ok, that just made me SHUDDER and filled me with gladness that I'm not longer in college.  OMG this had me giggling like a fool! I can picture it so clearly!
  22. We're a big mix, too. German, English, Native American, French Canadian- does that count?
  23. Actually I think using more potato starch would be fine. The starch doesn't really have a potato-y flavor. Potato flour definitely would, but those are two different things. (Tapioca starch and tapioca flour are the same thing, though.)
