ARCHIVED Medicine
modiddly16 replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't know what it is but i'm not digesting it.......i thought reactions could come only from digesting the medication, not if it's just simply injected or something, I don't have DH, just celiac. -
Captain Crunch has barley malt......I believe.....or oats. Which many don't consider safe. Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles are safe!

I got diagnosed my junior year of college as well and had a similar situation. The food staff went above and beyond but even that was limited and you can only eat fruits and salad for so long. I went to my director of res. life and asked if we could work out a special meal plan...that didn't take me off of it completley, because I certainly couldn't afford...

Is there any way you can get sick based on certain medicines that are soaked in through the skin? For example, I'm in physical therapy for my knee and my therapist, once a week for the 3rd week now, uses a patch that you put a medication on to help inflammation and then use electro-stimulus to penetrate the aggrevated area...the medicine is soaked in through...

Does anyone know if Centrium or if any other vitamins are gluten free? I need to start putting myself on some vitamins because I'm just not bouncing back as quickly as I need to be and my mother (the nutritionist) has been nagging me for years about getting on a good vitamin regiment. You'd think by the time you're grown up the mother's would calm down...

On another bored, someone posted that "it has been determined that eggs have wheat and soy in the yolk" I've never seen this information anywhere and was curious as to where this came from, the truth behind it and if anyone had an information? It just kinda baffled me and I'd like to know more about it!

Right, R. Thomas is the only late night choice that I know of. I'm actually unaware of any delivery places really....I know once Pizza Fusion opens they'll deliver but I don't know about late night. Sorry!

modiddly16 replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I did the wrapped chicken breast thing and it was delicious!!! I also checked out that crock pot lady blog and got some great stuff from there. I think I treated his stomach pretty well!!! He really liked it! Thanks again! -
I've lived in Atlanta for years.....I'm not really sure it's right to say that the city is full of "creeps, prostitutes, and who knows what", a lot of the city is pedestrian friendly AND safe, obviouslys it's a big city so you're going to have the normal big city issues....but I never have felt unsafe here. There are more places in the city than you realize...

modiddly16 replied to teamworkjr's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm on Yasmin and have been for years which has been confirmed gluten free. Your gyno should know the answer to this or should at least be willing to call and find out which pills are gluten-free. -

yes a date with a man.....shocking, I know. Usually no one likes that "i'm a freak about food otherwise I'll get sick conversation" but so far so good.... thanks for the help so far, and pushing me to y'alls blogs. Cornish game hens sounds pricey......delicious, but pricey. I'm on a strict budget here people -
Hey guys- I have a lot of recipes and have used them often but I'm in a new situation with a guy who doesn't know a whole lot about my disease and I want to cook for him on Saturday but want something special that will really impress him and make him realize that just because I can't eat a lot of things....the stuff we can eat CAN be normal and delicious...

ARCHIVED Still Drinking Regular Beer - No Problems
modiddly16 replied to Mountaineer Josh's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just because one says "best regards" does not mean that you mean well in what you have said. I feel that this post has gotten slightly ridiculous and now instead of educating people or allowing people to share their experience, others are poking fun at those people who have attempted to drink light beer calling it a "research project" in the most sarcastic... -
ARCHIVED Still Drinking Regular Beer - No Problems
modiddly16 replied to Mountaineer Josh's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm sorry...mandatory?? There is no one sitting here to hold my hand and force me to follow the diet, I choose to follow the diet because it makes me feel healthier, I know several people who choose not to follow the diet because of whatever personal reason and they deal with the consequences. So yes, while the treatment remains the same, some people do... -
ARCHIVED Still Drinking Regular Beer - No Problems
modiddly16 replied to Mountaineer Josh's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
not really sure this type of attitude is necessary... A lot of people react differently to celiac disease, Mountaineer Josh- Just because you're not having a reaction to the beer, doesn't mean that it isn't doing some serious internal damage. If you were diagnosed then I think it's best you don't drink beer, even if you don't have a negative reaction. My... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Orders Online
modiddly16 replied to capawa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just can't justify paying 80 bucks for a variety 3 pack of pizza...... I'd order from so many of these places but I just simply can't afford it! -
If you can eat seafood...go to the mom and pop seafood places...They're willing to work with you in every way. Depending on where you're staying, I've eaten out in places in Murrells Inlet and Pawleys Island. There's a Carrabba's and always Chick-Fil-A. Cheeseburger in Paradise is in Myrtle Beach as well as Sticky Fingers that offer gluten-free choices...

ARCHIVED Dedicated Lines For Rice Chex? I Suspect Not...
modiddly16 replied to oceangirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
um........you found moldy Chex and no one else thinks to comment on that? I've never seen a purple chex....I'm confused by this. What do you mean that they are made in a way that mold grows? -

modiddly16 replied to DawnS's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED Cheerwine
modiddly16 replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Cheerwine a soda from Carolina it's hard to explain......it's like a cherry dr. pepper type of taste.......with no calories -
Apparently Cheerwine is growing and moving beyond North Carolina into Atlanta...my parents sent me the article yesterday, so naturally the first thing I did was email the company asking if Cheerwine was gluten free.. here is their answer: "Although we claim Cheerwine to be gluten free, anytime you have a corn product you can have cross pollination that...

I gotta tell you though......those mom and pop restaurants in Podunk are the BEST....Corporate companies care so much less about customer service. My family has long vacationed in Pawleys Island, SC and we stop at small seafood joints all the time and have the best experiences....I'll give my money to their business before the corporate man any day. But...
